  1. Concept: Bird of prey, Champion of the skies, Underboob, ethnic outfit
  2.
  3. This time, it's a familiar demon beast, with the wings of an eagle and the lower body of a lion, the Griffon!
  4. Unlike harpies, whose arms are bird wings, they are characterized by having their wings growing from their backs. Though as of right now, I actually kind of screwed up... her wings are supposed to be in front, and her poncho is meant to be draped over them. Sorry!
  5.
  6. Back on topic, the idea of the Griffon originates from India or Mesopotamia, and eventually somehow travelled to Europe. She's a pretty major and famous monster!
  7. Their existence is devoted to protecting the treasures of the gods, and they will tear apart those who try to steal them.
  8. In the Encyclopedia's world, their role is unchanged, though their aggression towards robbers is turned into a more carnal kind...
  9.
  10. You may be wondering why the Griffon likes horse meat in particular. In fact, in the original myth, the Griffons drew the chariots of the Gods, and perhaps they just saw Horses as bitter competitors for their role...
  11.
  12. Her design was close to done even at the sketch phase.
  13. While the Griffon already has a ton to her design even naked, I felt like she'd look a bit... lacking and bare, in a way, if she wasn't wearing anything? So I gave her an outfit in the style of a poncho and loincloth, along with face paint, simply to give her a bit of a more ethnic and wild look.
  14. While it doesn't exactly hide anything, its purpose is really more just to fill out the shape of her lower body.
  15. While her rather "voluminous" wings and lower body (and boobs) really help convey the size of her body, I made her stomach area rather typically feminine and not visibly toned. With the Griffon, I was really trying hard to strike a good balance between the kind of atmosphere the different parts of her body give, and possible gap appeal between one part and its surrounding ones...
  16. I worked very hard at trying to make the feeling of those wings and lower body just right, and have them contrast with her human torso just right, as well as just making her look really fluffy.
  17. Her hair also has a lot of volume to it, and it's white on top. It was difficult to design that mesh in a way that it resembles the body of a brown eagle, and I was quite worried about how it would work out.
  18. I went with a similar coloring for her wings, as well as the legs. If the legs were just entirely brown they'd look a bit bland and not terribly eye catching, so I added some white highlights around her calves.
  19.
  20. Since I drew her at an angle that really emphasizes that underboob (really important), it's probably a bit difficult to tell, but the accessory on her chest is actually styled after a bird's beak.
  21. In the initial sketch she had some hair under her breasts, but I ended up dropping it for the profile illustration to emphasize the underboob and make it really easy to see...!
