  1. When the fight starts, walk to the edge of the spikes (I stop with mega man's right toe just over the edge).
  2.
  3. Wily Press will move to center itself above you. This doesn't count as part of its hovering cycle. The easiest way to explain it is to ignore the first time Press switches direction on the left side of the screen. The second time it does that, start counting each time it does.
  4.
  5. When Press stomps down, you'll dodge it either to the right or left. Either way, start walking back to your spot next to the spikes as soon as Press rises up again. If you dodge getting stomped by moving left, start counting cycles the first time he switches directions on the right. Vice-versa if you had to dodge his stomp by jumping right across the spikes.
  6.
  7. Press's three hover patterns are called "3, 5, and 7" but this isn't technically correct. A "5" stops at what would be 4.5 in the counting cycle, but it doesn't affect anything. Basically if you're able to count to 5 using the method I detailed above, you'll know that he stops on 7 and can arrow up and get a double hit safely.
  8.
  9. WILY PRESS HOVER SWITCHES
  10. -------------------------
  11. Wily switches which side he will land on in a specific way. He begins the fight ending on the left side of his hover pattern, then chooses sides after each subsequent pattern based on what it was.
  12.
  13. After any 3 pattern, Wily will switch to right-side hover.*
  14. After any 5 pattern, Wily will switch to the opposite side hover.
  15. After any 7 pattern, Wily will stay on the current hover.
  16.
  17. *ONE EXCEPTION: If you're doing wall doubles (either for multiple patterns or just the opening one), and the opening pattern is a 3, the next pattern will be a left hover. If he gives two 3s in a row to start the fight, the third hover pattern will switch to the right side. This is only a factor if you're trying to arrow up the left wall to hit all possible patterns -- if you use the standing spot near the spikes for the entire fight, it won't be a factor.
