It's almost here -- in fact, in many ways, it's already started: Amazon Prime Day 2019 -- aka Black Friday in July, aka everything everywhere is on sale -- begins Monday, July 15, at midnight PT (3 a.m. ET) device deals revealed: $15 Fire TV Stick, $30 Fire tablet, $85 Kindle Paperwhite to name a few.

*CONGRESS PLAYS GAMES
On Wednesday (July 10th), the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) hosted a Rocket League tournament in Congress, pitting members against each other in 2v2 matches.

The ESA paired up with Congress’ Future Forum caucus to teach members about the e-sports and gaming communities. A whole slate of members picked up the game and faced off head-to-head, teaming up with staff members. The two-hour event was streamed on Twitch and featured Reps. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), Stephanie Murphy (D-FL), Katie Hill (D-CA), Marc Veasey (D-TX), and Jimmy Gomez (D-CA).

The event included everything from professional commentary to post-game interviews and minor trolls from the chat calling for lawmakers to learn how to use their boosts. “SOMEONE TELL THEM THE BOOST KEY PLEASE,” one person in the chat wrote.

The ESA lobbies on behalf of the gaming industry, and, generally, this event was about building up goodwill with Congress. While there’s no imminent threat from Congress that would harm e-sports, there is legislation targeting the sale of loot boxes to minors and other internet regulations that could affect game companies. Events like these, that include alcohol and food, put lobbyists and members face-to-face to talk policy.

In post-game interviews, the members voiced support and interest for the gaming community, although some was a little misplaced. “We have GameStops all throughout the district,” Veasey said. “I would say that GameStop is actually extremely popular in the various neighborhoods that are represented in my district and gaming is a really big deal.”

*AMAZON MMO
Amazon Game Studios has announced its latest project: a Lord of the Rings massively multiplayer online game that Amazon is developing in partnership with Leyou. It’s planned as a free-to-play title for both PC and consoles.

The title was actually announced last year by Leyou-owned Athlon Games. At the time, Athlon was said to be working with an unnamed “partner developer,” which was revealed today to be Amazon Game Studios.

According to Athlon’s announcement last fall, the new MMO is set “at a time long before the events of The Lord of the Rings, exploring lands, people and creatures never seen before by fans of the Tolkien universe.” That may sound similar to Amazon’s upcoming Lord of the Rings TV series, which is also said to be set in Middle-earth long before J.R.R Tolkien’s main series. According to Amazon, the show and the game are being developed separately and are unrelated projects.

Between Amazon and Leyou, there’s a considerable amount of previous MMO experience: Leyou owns Warframe developer Digital Extremes, and Amazon Game Studios is already deep in the development process for its first MMO, New World, which should help assuage fears that such a beloved IP is being handled by relative newcomers.

Amazon’s Lord of the Rings MMO also won’t be the first MMO based on Tolkien’s world. The Lord of the Rings Online has been around since 2007, offering players a new adventure to play alongside the events of the trilogy during the War of the Ring, with the most recent update released in October 2018.

There are no details yet regarding when Amazon expects to release the MMO or on which consoles it’ll be available, but we’re expecting to get more details as development continues.

*COD MW MP REVEAL
A multiplayer gameplay reveal for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is coming on August 1, 2019. This will be the first time fans will have the chance to see the core multiplayer playlist in action.

Activision and Infinity Ward recently revealed the first gameplay of a new game mode coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare called Gunfight, which is perfectly suited for players on a tight schedule; however, it's completely separate from the main multiplayer playlist. While it may be different from the regular multiplayer, Gunfight shows the very familiar user interface, as well as the fast and fluid gameplay that fans have come to expect from the series. There were also some cool surprises like quick execution animations shown off for the first time.  Infinity Ward has said in the past that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will increase the player count with 20-player matches.

*AMD RYZEN
AMD Ryzen 3900X And 3700X Reviews Show The Company Delivered Big On Its Product Promises

On Sunday AMD officially announced the availability of its 3rd Gen Ryzen desktop processors and its APU with integrated graphics. True to AMD form, it was a multi-year tease starting all the way back to initial hints on the increased capability of the new Zen 2 architecture, new TSMC 7nm process, and new chiplet package. With availability comes product reviews, which, for the consumer channel desktop market, means everything, but it also matters as the showing will provide an indicator on how well AMD laptop chips and even how AMD’s Rome server could perform.

What AMD announced

AMD announced six voltage and frequency unlocked desktop processors spanning 16 cores to 6, 32 threads to 12, at 4.7GHz boost to 4.2 GHz., 72MB to 35MB cache at $499 to $199 price points

Benchmarks I've seen multi threaded benchmarks / programs are heavily favored to AMDs new offering vs. even i9 Intel offerings for much more money.  AMD holds their own in single threaded compute power however Intel still edges it out performance wise.  Note however AMD does at a much lower price point.

In gaming benchmarks since most games don't utilize multi threading all that well if at all.  The Intel platform still walks away on top in terms of FPS vs the new AMD CPUs.

*BATH WATER GIRL
Twitch streamer ‘Johnny_Now’ honored Instagram personality Belle Kirschner, famously known as Belle Delphine, by setting the stage to drink her viral bathwater she put up for sell only one week prior.

Delphine has millions of fans across the net stemming from her NSFW cosplays, and the online personality previously had her fun with them by creating a PornHub account filled with bait videos.

In another meme-fueled venture, Delphine started packaging and distributing her bathwater, which was apparently met with a surprisingly large demand. While buyers are told not to drink the product, since it should only be used for “sentimental purposes,” not everyone is sticking close to the warning label.

Going the extra mile for a spicy meme, Johnny_Now upped the ante by filling a “holy chalice” with Delphine’s bathwater to give it a good chug but not before noticing the “floaties” suspended in the liquid.

Swashing around the bathwater in his mouth, the streamer took his time getting down all the flavor notes before throwing it down the chute.

“Mmm, surprising aftetaster,” Johnny_Now said after taking a big gulp of bathwater. “It has like a little spice to it. This was very nice. This was worth it. I think this was worth it. Wow. Thank you so much Belle [Delphine].”

The streamer even topped off his cup before going back for seconds, jokingly calling the water the “fountain of youth” as he went in for more.

Johnny_Now and his chat were equally hyped for the big moment as the streamer went through tremendous lengths to acquire the bathwater in time for his broadcast.

“I spent $100 just on the shipping alone to get this here,” Johnny_Now said. “I saw this as a meme-worthy experience, I knew right away the second that this was going to blow up, and I had to order it. I placed an order the first day it came out.”

By the way Johnny only pulled a meager 60'ish viewers for this stunt. Hope it was worth it.  You may want to get tested for Hep C now John. LOL
