When Mystery, Inc. are guests of honor at the grand opening of the Coolsville Museum of Criminology, a masked villain shows up and creates havoc before stealing the costumes of the gang&#39;s most notorious villains: Black Knight Ghost, Pterodactyl Ghost and Tar Monster. Could it be that their nemesis, mad scientist Jonathan Jacobo has returned and is trying to recreate their deadliest enemies? Velma has a crush on the museum curator Patrick Wisely despite her fears of intimacy but why is he acting so suspicious? The Mystery Gang is hard pressed to succeed this time, since annoying television reporter Heather Jasper-Howe insists they are buffoons.
The Mystery Inc. gang must save Coolsville from an attack of past unmasked monsters brought to life by an evil masked figure trying to &quot;unmask&quot; the gang.
Being an employee at the movie theater (thank god i am quitting), I do get to see these movies for free, so rather bad or good, it&#39;s no skin off my nose (oh and anyone who complains about $8.75 - $10 for a movie, you must be spoiled and greedy).  This movie was good for kids, and adults alike.  All the innuendos in it of course can only be caught by adults.  The whole series in it self is an innuendo.  If you don&#39;t know what I mean then you are probably dense and born yesterday, (or the day before).  I enjoyed it with my girlfriend, since I am a huge fan of Scooby Doo.  I loved how they brought back all the old monsters that was great.  It was a tacky movie, but because of the kid feel to it.  It was an enjoyable experience for a Scooby Doo fan, and an o.k. experience for the adult fan.  I&#39;d recommend seeing it, but only once.  I give this movie a 6 out of 10.
Released in 2004, &quot;Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed&quot; has the Mystery Inc. team taking on monsters from their past adventures brought to life by an evil masked figure. <br/><br/>As with the first film, Matthew Lillard and Linda Cardellini shine as Shaggy and Velma. Freddy Prinze Jr. is pretty good as Fred while Sarah Michelle Gellar as Daphne doesn&#39;t quite fit the role, although she&#39;s likable and serviceable. I&#39;m sure she got the part because of her popularity at the time. Seth Green and Peter Boyle have significant peripheral roles, as does Alicia Silverstone, who&#39;s a highlight but unfortunately underused. <br/><br/>Whereas the first movie was shot on the east coast of Australia this sequel changes the locale to the Vancouver area of British Columbia. Of course, it&#39;s location is Coolsville in the story, wherever that&#39;s supposed to be. In any case, the extreme switch in locale changes the dynamics a bit. <br/><br/>There also seems to be more emphasis on action and paying homage to the cartoon, which makes it marginally better than the first movie, for me anyway. Plus it emphasizes the obvious – that Velma is sexier than Daphne, at least with Cardellini as Velma and Gellar as Daphne. There are some worthwhile morals as well, like simply being yourself and not trying to be someone else. <br/><br/>The film runs 93 minutes.<br/><br/>GRADE: C+ or B- (5.5/10)
Like its predecessor, this cartoon adaptation is a bit too all over the place for its own good, never entirely clear on whether to play as parody or homage.
