- Tips for void opal mining :
- Try to find a ring with multiple void opal hotspots, and if possible hotspots that overlap (for double chance of opal core asteroid spawns, this will increase the chance of the cores you find to be void opals, it does NOT increase the drop rate of core asteroids).
- Drop in 2 Mm or more from the nav markers, and try to mine towards the planet (target the planet) or towards the star, and keep that reference point and heading to prevent backtracking. It used to be the case that the contents would respawn every 2 hours. For core asteroids, FDev have changed that to 6 days, which is more easily depleted, your results will vary based on current amount of mining done during the past week or so.
- Use Inara to locate the stations buying the commodity at the best price. In this case, void opals.
- Inara.cz -> galaxy nearest -> commodities -> void opals -> system you are in -> best sell
- Select a station that's reasonably close to the star and has a landing pad you can land on. Note the system. Use EDDB to locate Pristine Icy rings using the station's system as a reference. Select "Ref" in the results table to list them by Ly distance from the system you're going to be selling to. Closer to the star is better, as is multiple planets in the same system (more candidates for VO hotspots). Keep in mind the prices do change, so check Inara daily to keep yourself updated. If they change, repeat the process.
