- In the grand scheme of things we are nothing, we are just a small insignificant blip of existence that has little effect on the universe as a whole, even if we are alone in the universe the best we can be is a chronicler of the universe while inside of it, meaning that even if we live to the very second the last atom decays, we can't chronicle even a fraction of what the universe holds - and whatever we do save is lost just as everything else will be. People joke that life sucks then you die, well that's true, but not for one person, but all life ever to exist. Our race will someday end, no matter what. It may be long after the universe does, or tomorrow at 6:56pm, but we will all die, our descendants will die, our species will die, our planet will die, our sun will die, our galaxy will die, black holes will die, the universe will die. We mean nothing, we are next to nothing. If there is any meaning in life it is death and nothing will ever change that. Our race thinks in spans of life times, or reigns, but even thinking in the scope of all of human history is not even enough, we need to start finding ways to outlive the universe, not each other. We need to think of ways to outlive the sun, not the planet. We need to think of ways to survive after everything else is gone.
