  1. Despite our houses being directly next to each other, the walk to Sayori's leaves a deep chill in my bones. Sayori and I were supposed to meet 15 minutes ago to go out and enjoy the fresh snowfall, but she hasn't been replying to any of my texts. Feeling worried I decided to head out and check on her. Stepping through the unshoveled snow leading to her steps, I reach Sayori's house and knock on the door. I don't expect a response of course since her parents are out of town before Christmas and she's probably just asleep in her bed, but it's the thought that counts. Letting myself in I stomp the snow off of my boots and onto the rubber mat placed just inside, then call out to see if Sayori will be so easily woken.
  2.
  3. "Sayori? I'm here!"
  4.
  5. No response, she really is a heavy sleeper. Deciding to directly wake her I walk up the stairs that I have many times before and stop in front of Sayori's door, giving it a knock.
  6.
  7. "Sayori? Wake up dummy."
  8.
  9. No response again. I'm starting to feel a pit of worry form in my stomach, is something wrong? Panic takes hold of me and I quickly open the door.
  10.
  11. "Sayor-" I cut my panicked cry short as I see her.
  12.
  13. Sayori is sleeping peacefully on her bed, and I feel a massive sense of relief wash over me. Taking in the scene I realize that she seems to be sleeping on top of the blankets and that she's already dressed in her winter coat and snow boots. Putting 2 and 2 together I gather that she must have tried to wake up extra early in order to not oversleep and miss our date, got dressed, and then fell back asleep with nothing to do. I walk closer to her and can see her rose blonde hair splayed out slightly on the pillow beneath her head as well as hair slightly sticking to her forehead from sweat. That kind of thing tends to happen when you sleep wearing a coat after all. I watch he soft lips as she takes slow rhythmic breathes. Maybe I should wake her up with a kiss? But seeing how she didn't wake up before when I called her she may even sleep through that. Then I have a better idea and lean down to her ear.
  14.
  15. "Sayori, breakfast is ready." I whisper to her.
  16.
  17. Sayori sits up extremely fast, missing headbutting me by a couple inches.
  18.
  19. "Breakfast!?" Sayori exclaims, then notices me standing next to her bed. "Anon? What are you doing he-" realization dawns on her and I watch her face fall.
  20.
  21. All bitterness I may have felt for having to come get her disappears as I see tears are about to well in her eyes. Deciding to step in before she can really start to feel guilty for missing our date time I bring her into a tight hug and run my hand through the back of her hair.
  22.
  23. "Sayori it's fine that you slept in, you wanted to make sure to be up in time right?" I softly say to her.
  24.
  25. "Y-yeah..." she replies.
  26.
  27. "Well that's what counts, you wanted the best so there's no need to be upset." I lean back from the hug and place both hands on Sayori's shoulders, giving her a reassuring smile.
  28.
  29. "You're right anon, thank you!" Sayori's face returns to her usual happy demeanor and this time she pulls me into a hug.
  30.
  31. I'm about to return the hug when I hear a very loud grumble come from Sayori's stomach.
  32.
  33. "Ehehe, I guess that's what happens when you wake me up with the promise of food." Sayori says with her face buried in my chest.
  34. "Anon could you pretty please make me some breakfast before we go?"
  35.
  36. "Sure thing Sayori, what do you want?" how could I have said no?
  37.
  38. "Pancakes!" she exclaims as she pulls back from me and slightly bounces on the bed.
  39.
  40. I tousle her cute hair and we both head down to the kitchen. Finding the pancake mix is easy, I've made them for Sayori countless times over the years and at this point I'm pretty sure she's gotten addicted to them. With practiced hands I cook Sayori 4 pancakes and myself 2 in no time. As I hand Sayori her plate she immediately reaches for the syrup bottle and begins to add copious amount of it.
  41.
  42. "You know sometimes I wonder if you really love syrup and just use pancakes as an excuse." I joke as I sit down next to her. "I could just not cook and hand you a bowl of syrup if you want."
  43.
  44. "nhilvfyrcodig" Sayori tries to force words through a mouthful of syrup and pancakes and only succeeds in getting syrup on her chin.
  45.
  46. "Chew." I remind her as I take the first bite of my own pancake. This could really use some syrup on it, but I need to prove a point to Sayori.
  47.
  48. "I said I love your cooking, Anon! It's always so yummy!"
  49.
  50. I pat her on the head, and we both continue eating in peace.
  51.
  52. When we finish eating we place the dishes in the sink for later and prepare to head outside.
  53.
  54. "So what is it that you wanted to do out in the snow today?" I ask Sayori as we head out of the door.
  55.
  56. "Well aside from spending time with you, I really want to build a snowman!" Sayori says motioning to the snow in the yard.
  57.
  58. "Just like when we were kids? That sounds like fun." I say as the memory of us building snowmen comes back to me.
  59.
  60. Up until a couple of years ago we would always build snowmen out of the first snow that we could, we would also always make the snowmen look like us as much as possible. My mom still has all the pictures of those snowmen in a scrapbook too. Leaving from my memories I return my focus to Sayori and we begin the process of building the base of her snowman.
  61.
  62. "This snow is really good for sculpting." I say as we make quick work of the first ball which serves as the bottom. "It's not too powdery but it's also not so hard that you can't mold it."
  63.
  64. "Mhm, it's almost like fate wants us to do this! It's kind of romantic..." Sayori says.
  65.
  66. She's right, there is something oddly romantic about this even if we've done it at least 10 times before normally. Now that we're a couple just working together like this puts a warm feeling in my chest. Before I know it the 2nd and final balls of snow have been built, and we now have the general shape of a snowman created.
  67.
  68. "It's not as cute as you." I state plainly and begin to gather snow to make the base of my snowman, leaving Sayori to blush.
  69.
  70. Work on my snowman takes a bit longer than Sayori's did because of its larger size, but we work as a well oiled snowman building machine and have my taller snowman put up next to hers in a relatively small amount of time. Standing back to look at them both I notice that they're much closer than we used to build them, practically touching each other.
  71.
  72. "It's like they're holding hands..." Sayori says almost to herself.
  73.
  74. Seeing this as a good moment I take her gloved hand in my own.
  75.
  76. "Like this?" I ask as I pull her closer to me. "Now they're really like us."
  77.
  78. "Anon you can't do stuff like that till we're done! You're so warm I might not let go." Sayori hugs my arm close and nuzzles it.
  79.
  80. I smile down at her and wait until she's satisfied, then we both get to work on the finer details, using some stones from some cleared ground to decorate the faces. Sayori even adds her bow to the top of hers.
  81.
  82. "Alright! I think these are just about perfect!" I say happily as I look at the 2 snowmen, the taller one on the right and the shorter one decorated with a bow on the left. "Let me get a picture of this to show the girls in the club and my mom" I say as I pat my pockets looking for my smart phone.
  83.
  84. "I think I remember seeing it inside Anon, it was on the kitchen counter." Sayori surprises me by being the one to not lose an object.
  85. "Could you get mine from my room while you're inside? I want it for when we leave."
  86.
  87. "Sure thing Sayori, I'll be right back." I say while turning around and heading towards the house.
  88.
  89. Just like Sayori said, my phone is right next to the stovetop I cooked the pancakes on. Wondering how I could have forgotten them I climb up the stairs to Sayori's room and begin to look for her phone. As I start the search I realize Sayori never actually told me where he phone was so I start with the most likely place, her nightstand. Checking the top and all the drawers reveals nothing so I move on to the next, slightly more intimate, place; her bedsheets. Looking under the pillows I find nothing so I start to take each layer of blanket and sheet individually to shake it out. Nothing in the sheets either, but it does do a good job of spreading Sayori's strawberry scent more around the room than it already was. While I'm tempted to enjoy this smell for longer I know Sayori is waiting for me and get back to thinking of where to search.
  90.
  91. "Where could it be? It's not in the bed or nightstand. Maybe the dresser?" I take a step in that direction when a flash catches my eye from next to the bed.
  92.
  93. Taking a closer look I see the blue notification light flashing on Sayori's screen from between the bed and nightstand. I reach my arm down into the crack and return with the cute pink phone in hand.
  94.
  95. "Sweet! Now time to get this to Sayori." I say to no one.
  96.
  97. I return outside to find an odd sight. Sayori is just standing up from kneeling in front of the snowmen and her back is turned to me, but there seems to be a new addition to the scene. A smaller snowman, about a quarter of the size of Sayori's, is right between both larger snowmen. While I think I have a good idea what this is supposed to be, I decide to ask Sayori anyway.
  98.
  99. "I got your phone Sayori! What's that there?" I feign ignorance.
  100.
  101. Sayori turns around quickly with a blush on her face, so quickly in fact that she trips and falls towards me into the snow. I walk the extra couple of feet and pick her up into a hug.
  102.
  103. "What are you so embarrassed about Sayori? It's just a snowman." I tease her.
  104.
  105. I can't see her face but I can tell she's red and nervous.
  106.
  107. "W-well i-it was supposed to be, um..." Sayori trails off unwilling to end her sentence.
  108.
  109. "It was supposed to be what?" I tease again
  110.
  111. "I just felt really romantic and sappy after helping make the snowmen so I got carried away and added a new one." Sayori hugs me tighter. "And please don't make me say what it is, it's to embarrassing!"
  112.
  113. Oh this is just too cute, I have to get more reactions like this out of her.
  114.
  115. "You know...I could make that a reality if you want" I whisper into her ear sensually.
  116.
  117. Sayori immediately tenses and I can hear her trying to stutter a response. I'm not really sure if I've ever seen her so embarrassed before, she's even trying to break the hug, causing me to hold her tighter.
  118.
  119. "No way Sayori! You just fell in the snow and you need me to keep you warm!" I chuckle as I lift her off the ground still in the hug.
  120. "Now let's go get some baby supplies!"
  121.
  122. "Anon!" Sayori exclaims as I finally let her go.
  123.
  124. "I'm just kidding Sayori, let's go have some more fun in the snow." I say patting her head.
  125.
  126. The winter weather isn't so cold with someone to warm you at your side. Sayori and I have a wonderful day in the snow together, making memories along the way. Maybe one day we'll get to tell our children about this day? That thought puts true joy in my heart.
