  1. Hello everyone, today I'm going to speak about a guy named Eric Prydz who is a musician, producer and a disc jockey. You may have heard of him from the commercial anthem "Call On Me" which did a huge success back in 2004. Why I have chosen to talk about this particular person is because he has been really inspiring ever since I started to listen to the electronic kind of music and not just because he's one of the best DJ's around the globe.
  2. If we go back to 1994 when Eric started his musical career he became a drummer in a synth band called "Enemy Alliance". Eric and the other members in the band started to tour around Sweden in hope of becoming the next Kraftwerk which is a German electronic music group. He also hooked up with two friends who had a small studio set were he made even more pop based material. He even skipped his job and started to make his own techno-funk tracks and he DJ'ed locally when there was any gigs available or whenever he got the chance.
  3. When Eric released his first own work, it almost happened by an accident. He made some new material on a Roland MC-505 Groovebox which is a all in one synthesizer & drum machine. Later on he gave a cassette band to one of his friends who had a clothing store in Stockholm, and when his friend started to play the music in the store it became quite popular so he got to sign up with EMI and released an EP on their label "New Religion" which contained the two tracks "By Your Side & Mr. Jingles".
  4. After the success of that initial release he made a track that became the biggest instrumental tune on Ibiza summer 2003, and then he started to remix songs by other famous DJ's like Steve Angello for example. He had another kind of accident in his music making and this time to hit even bigger. He made a record with a sample from Stevie Winwood's 'Valerie' that was just intended to be played for his friends in Stockholm but it became another big club banger that one year later got released as "Call On Me" on Ministry of Sound. The song topped half of the national charts in Europe and stayed at top 1 for six weeks in the UK and sold 2.5 million copies worldwide.
  5. Today Prydz is the owner of three separate labels called Pryda Recordings, Mousville Recordings and Pryda Friends where he releases almost all of his stuff. He releases different styles of electronic music on each label, and he goes under separate names under each label as well. The label Pryda Recordings releases more house influenced style of music, and the Mouseville label releases more underground music. He has done a huge commercial success as well by first releasing "Call On Me" as I mentioned before but he also got to be the first to ever to remix a Pink Floyd song namely "Another Brick In The Wall" which he turned into "Proper Education" that reached number two in the charts. One and a half year later he topped the charts with a track called "Pjanoo" that also made top two in the charts.
  6. So he's not just an hero in underground music, he's pretty good at the commercial stuff as well even though it's not happening that often.
