MoaR Session 9

<Cliven> [For side B~ You people are about a quarter mile from the ruins where the others are staying but the jungle is dense and filled with various things that would make you cry back home to your mumsy.]
* Lynette does her best to navigate the foliage, though it's difficult going and her dress makes it no easier.
* Dr_Henry_Jones has no difficulty making his way through the jungle, it's positively homey compared to some of the places he's been.
<Cliven> [Oh crap Tesla, hold on a sec..][
* Aneki follows the group in her own place. Too much physical activity will cause anemia.
<Cliven> [Lynette is a far ways from ther ruins now, well not taht far but.. the dense foliage makes it feel that way.]
* Aneki hums russian tank march.
* Lynette struggles through the damn forest. What a nuisance...
* Lynette adjusts her pack and climbs halfway up a tree to get a better view, then drops back down and sits to rest. She has some water.
<Aneki> Sometimes I wish I am that agile...
* Aneki thinks out loud.
<Dr_Henry_Jones> Stop that complaining, Annie. Or did you forget that promise you made?
<Cliven> [The foliage seems to get thicker and you even see a wild boar pass by Lynette. And seem to see some movement in the fair distance.]
<Aneki> Refresh my memory, doctor.
<Lynette> Whoo, tired. I wonder if someone in our group's got sleeping pills- Whoa!
<Aneki> And i'm not complaining, mind you. This much is nothing.
* Lynette scrambles to her feet and pulls out her weapon, screwing on the barrel; she takes a glance at the movement in the distance twice or thrice but is a little nervous about the boar.
<Dr_Henry_Jones> You promised that if I got you a spot on this expedition, you'd grit those teeth.
* Aneki is, in fact, pale as a sheet of paper. The fact that she is an albino makes it even worse.
<Dr_Henry_Jones> Now let's see some grittin'
<Aneki> I'm not complaining, sheesh.
* Dr_Henry_Jones taps Aneki's side lightly with his cane.
<Dr_Henry_Jones> Better not, sweetheart.
* Aneki wobbles with only a slight touch.
* Dr_Henry_Jones continues leading the way
* Lynette puts a magazine in her rifle, works the bolt, and ducks down. This time she focuses on the movement in the distance. Is it getting... closer?
* Aneki bumps into Lynette.
<Aneki> f!
* Aneki falls ass first.
<Aneki> Why did you stopped?
<Dr_Henry_Jones> I didn't stop, what are you talking about?
* Dr_Henry_Jones turns back towards Aneki
* Aneki points at the ducking girl.
<Aneki> her.
* Lynette scrambles back out of surprise, then falls on her own ass. When did they get here?!
<Dr_Henry_Jones> Oh good, you found them. Not sure why one of Cliven's girls would be sitting around here alone, though.
<Aneki> Sorry, though. You alright lass?
* Aneki offers Lynette her hand.
* Lynette takes it and uses it to stand.
<Lynette> Yes, quite. Um... who might you be?
* Aneki nods at the prof.
<Lynette> ...?
<Dr_Henry_Jones> Dr. Henry Jones Jr, Ph.D, at your service. And this is my young protege, Annie.
<Dr_Henry_Jones> You must be one of Cliven's girls, because everyone else around here is either mercenaries or head-hunters.
<Lynette> Ah, I think I see. Before I introduce myself, why are you here?
<Dr_Henry_Jones> What do you mean, why am I here? I'm here on my afternoon walk, obviously.
* Dr_Henry_Jones raps Lynette lightly over the head with his cane
* Lynette brings her weapon to bear.
* Dr_Henry_Jones raises an eyebrow
<Lynette> You should expect I can't just take that as an answer. Could you please be specific?
* Dr_Henry_Jones peers at Lynette incredulously
<Dr_Henry_Jones> I'm here to see your boss, Dr. Cliven Harts. Now where is he?
* Lynette lowers her rifle.
<Lynette> Ah, okay... I believe he went out for some fresh air, so I can take you to where I think he is but I won't guarantee we'll find him.
<Lynette> By the way, my name's Lynette. Lynette Pinfield. Sorry I was suspicious.
<Dr_Henry_Jones> Never mind that, let's keep moving.
* Dr_Henry_Jones resumes his brisk pace
<Aneki> no biggie.
* Aneki follows. Wobble, wobble.
* Lynette moves ahead of the two, going back in the direction of the camp. She's still on edge, though.
<Lynette> That's odd... I don't recall Cliven saying he was expecting anyone...
<Dr_Henry_Jones> Yeah, sounds like Cliven. Kid has the foresight of a gnat.
<Dr_Henry_Jones> And twice the libido, if I remember correctly.
<Cliven> [Also, whenever you guys are ready to transition to Side A lemme knwo.]
<Aneki> Don't get disheartened, lass. His mouse is always rotten like that.
<Aneki> *mouth
<Lynette> Hm.
<Lynette> Yes, I guess it's partly true. Did he tell you he was coming out here?
* Ravion_Brutus walks up in a starch white suit carrying a cane and luggage
<Dr_Henry_Jones> Of course he did, why else would I come to this forsaken toilet?
<Ravion_Brutus> "I must figure out how to make all of this easier to carry."
<Dr_Henry_Jones> Never did like South America.
* Aneki gives Lynette an apologetic look.
<Lynette> Hm... I don't know, but I don't think I've been to the continent more than once or twice.
<Lynette> Anyway, we're nearly there. Bear with me now.
<Cliven> [OK~ for side A with Cliven~. It is a nice day and he has given everyone permission to go outside for a bit and take in some fresh air and familiarize themselves with the area and perhaps some strange and wonderful encounters~.]
* Iris` sits on a fallen stone slab, just looking at the surrounding rainforest. It's a safe area, but she wears her armor out of habit(and just in case).
* [BNS]Mina is outside, practicing with her new sword to get a feel for the balance and new weight... it's a LOT different than the wooden bokken she's used to
* Iris` glances at Mina and her practice, watching for a short time.
<[BNS]Mina> Hyaa-! Sha!
<Cliven> [And for some reason Lynette has stated that she left to group to explore on her own for the time being in hopes of finding... something.]
* [BNS]Mina cross-slashes the air with difficulty as the sword doesn't stop moving when she wants it to... too much weight and momentum.
* [BNS]Mina nearly topples over as she stumbles to keep her footing and the sword buries itself into the ground next to her
<[BNS]Mina> Wahh!
* Cliven claps as if to cheer Mina on.
<Cliven> Keep Trying Mina.. you can do it~
* Iris` observers a few moments more, then standing and walking closer to Mina.
* Iris` looks at her, awaiting recognition...
* [BNS]Mina looks up at Iris, wondering what she wants...?
* Iris` holds out her hand.
<Iris`> Here.
<[BNS]Mina> Egh... I'm fine.
* [BNS]Mina widens her stance, then pulls the sword from the dirt it's embedded in
* Iris` motions towards the sword.
<Iris`> I'm not very good, but I could still give you a tip.
* [BNS]Mina raises an eyebrow
* Iris` holds out her hand again.
<Iris`> I'll show you.
<[BNS]Mina> ...
* [BNS]Mina tentatively hands the sword pommel-first to Iris
* Iris` takes it, and steps away from Mina.
* Iris` then swings it in the open air before her- but never stops.
* Iris` keeps a repeating, flowing slash motion going for several seconds, and offers the sword back to Mina.
<Iris`> If you aren't strong enough to use it well, then just keep it moving.
* [BNS]Mina looks on, intrigued by Iris' demonstration
<Iris`> Try it.
* [BNS]Mina takes her sword back, then readies her stance, bringing the sword up, then across, following through with the momentium of the sword, spinning a full two times before coming to a stop, holding the sword at her side in a ready position
* Iris` speaks with a flat tone.
<Iris`> ... That would get you killed.
<Iris`> Use your wrist to bring it in an x.
* Iris` begins walking back inside.
<Iris`> You'll figure it out.
* [BNS]Mina sheathes the sword for now, thoroughly nonplussed with her lack of progress...
* Iris` enters, leaving Cliven and Mina alone.
* [BNS]Mina suddenly notices the group of people approaching
<[BNS]Mina> Hey... Dad! There's people here!
* Lynette waves, hoping to get the boss's attention.
<Cliven> H-huh?
* Cliven pulls out his rifle and takes a zoom and aim at the old looking man.
* Dr_Henry_Jones throws open his coat, grabs the bullwhip at his belt, and whips it out at Cliven, wrapping the tip around the gun and yanking it from his grip
<Cliven> ...tch.
<Cliven> Well, didn't think I'd see you so soon Doctor.
<Dr_Henry_Jones> You never do, Cliven, you whelp.
<[BNS]Mina> !!!
<Lynette> Ah, so you were indeed expecting him. Do you need anything else, sir?
* Ravion_Brutus puts down the luggage. He brushes his startch white suit and leans on his cane.
<Cliven> Get yourself acquainted with this old bumbling fool if you haven't already.
<Cliven> Mina I'm sure you know this man right?
* Cliven motions to Henry Jones.
* [BNS]Mina has stars in her eyes...
<[BNS]Mina> It-it-it's...
* [BNS]Mina points at Dr. Jones
<[BNS]Mina> Y-y-you're...
<Ravion_Brutus> "Doctor you must let me know how you do it."
<Dr_Henry_Jones> Ah, a fan I see.
<Lynette> Hm? Mina, who is he?
* Lynette looks at him as if she's sizing him up, rubbing her right temple a little.
* [BNS]Mina stares at Lynette incredulously
<[BNS]Mina> You... you really don't know who this is?
<Ravion_Brutus> "This is the good doctor Jones, mon amor."
* Aneki waits her turn to be introduced like a sophisticated assistance she is.
<[BNS]Mina> This is Indiana Jones! He's my hero!
* Dr_Henry_Jones chuckles
<Dr_Henry_Jones> Oh... that name... been a while.
<Lynette> I... um... don't know if I've heard of him. Maybe I have, but... well, I don't remember lots of things.
<Cliven> Good to see you again Jones. How's life treating you?
<Aneki> You're not as famous anymore, jones.
<Aneki> Ha ha~
* Dr_Henry_Jones turns to Aneki
<Dr_Henry_Jones> Quiet, you.
* Dr_Henry_Jones turns back to Cliven
<Dr_Henry_Jones> You know, you've got a lot of backbone to be making an old man like me come all the way out here.
<Cliven> And seeing how you disarmed me just earlier I say you're doing fine
<Dr_Henry_Jones> Bah, maybe if you weren't such a nancy-boy, you'd still have your gun.
* Cliven laughs half-heartly.
<Dr_Henry_Jones> Anyway, this is the young one I was telling you about.
* Ravion_Brutus already seems bored of this conversation and diverts his attention to the others
* Dr_Henry_Jones directs attention towards Aneki
<Dr_Henry_Jones> She's my sharpest student, and it's time she got some dig time.
<Cliven> Ah her?...
* Cliven looks at Aneki.
<Dr_Henry_Jones> Try and keep her out of any manual labor, though. Poor girl's fragile as a flower.
<Aneki> Greetings.
<Cliven> Well.. she's going to be doing alot of Manual Labor. Such a shame...
<Aneki> And don't listen to him, Mr.Cliven. He's being old and forgetful. I'm as tough as a wild stud.
* Aneki flex, though it doesn't look convincing.
* Dr_Henry_Jones taps Aneki with his cane again
* Aneki wobble.
<Cliven> Well, I hope you'll do fine with our group then.
<Dr_Henry_Jones> Don't let her kid you, Cliven. She falls over in a stiff breeze.
<Cliven> Janie! Come meet Mr.Jones!
<Lynette> Wouldn't that be Dr. Jones, sir?
<Ravion_Brutus> "Oh mon amor do not insist in straining yourself.  I will handle your lifting for you."
<[Rut]Janie> Meet who, Mister Cliven?
* [Rut]Janie is beside Cliven. Wait, what?
* Cliven points to the old looking man.
<Aneki> Thanks, Ravion. You are always kind, unlike certain professor.
* Aneki snickers.
<Cliven> Come now.... we don't need to be fighting each other except Ol' Jones here.
* Ravion_Brutus grins
<[Rut]Janie> "Jones"?
* [Rut]Janie tilts her head sideways.
<Ravion_Brutus> "Of course mon amor, I would never let a lady be subjected to such behavior."
<Cliven> He's an old friend of mine Janie. Please meet Henry Jones, some know him as the Indiana Jones.
<[Rut]Janie> Indiana... Jones...?
<Aneki> Or Harrison Ford.
<Aneki> [yay 4thwall woot woot]
<Cliven> I don't know of any Harrison Ford Aneki...
* Cliven thinks about it.
<Dr_Henry_Jones> Don't think too hard, Cliven, you might short something out. Besides, Annie's just being a wise-ass.
* [Rut]Janie thinks for a minute. Then her eyes grow wide.
<[Rut]Janie> Indiana Jones? You mean... THE Indiana Jones?
* Ravion_Brutus sighs
<Ravion_Brutus> "Everytime."
<Cliven> Here we go again...
* Dr_Henry_Jones grins
* Lynette circles around the doctor to greet this Ravion. Ot
<Cliven> You really need to retire old man.
<Dr_Henry_Jones> I'll retire when I'm dead, Cliven.
<[Rut]Janie> ... Gosh, that's amazing! It must be swell to have a -whole- state named after you!
* Lynette It's turning into the same routine over and over back there...
* Aneki stifle a laugh.
<Lynette> ...Hello. Ravion, is it?
<Aneki> Good one there, lass. Good one. I almost laugh.
<[Rut]Janie> What one?
* Cliven would drop a sweat if he could right now... he simply smiles onward.
* [Rut]Janie looks confused.
<Ravion_Brutus> "Ah yes, Ravion Brutus at your service mon amor,"
* Ravion_Brutus bows to Lynette
<Aneki> The joke.
<Dr_Henry_Jones> You sure picked a winner here this time, Harts.
* [Rut]Janie stares at Aneki blankly.
<Cliven> I know, right?
* Aneki goes '?'
* Cliven laughs.
<[Rut]Janie> ... I don't get it.
<Aneki> Never mind that.
<Lynette> Lynette Pinfield, at yours, monsieur.
* Aneki ruffles janie.
* Lynette curtsies.
<[Rut]Janie> Kya~
<Ravion_Brutus> "How refreshing.  Civility is so spare in this line of work.  Which is baffling given that I am a butler."
<Aneki> I'm pretty sophisticated, Ravion! How could you say I'm like -him-?
* Aneki pokes Jones.
<Cliven> [This goes on after some time and the sun is beginning to set as people are catching up on the good old times.]
* Ravion_Brutus tries to respond faster then he can speak
<Ravion_Brutus> "I d-dind't mean you o-of course mon amor!  I j-just mean the people we meet!"
<Dr_Henry_Jones> Well damn, how long have we been talking here like this? Sun's already going down.
<Dr_Henry_Jones> Looks like we're not getting back to the airfield today.
<Lynette> Did you intend to do so, doctor?
<Dr_Henry_Jones> I did, now it seems we need alternate accommodations.
<Cliven> Come, I got a cozy home set-up inside.
<[BNS]Mina> Oh! Dad! I can help!
* [BNS]Mina jumps up and down excitedly
<Cliven> Sure.
<Ravion_Brutus> "Please let me, mon amor."
* Cliven pats her on the head before heading inside with his trusty rifle.
* Ravion_Brutus motions to help instead of Mina
* Dr_Henry_Jones turns to Mina
<Dr_Henry_Jones> Well, led the way then.
* Lynette moves to help also, picking up a few things to carry for the new arrivals.
* Ravion_Brutus grabs his luggage
* [BNS]Mina leads Dr. Jones and the others into the ruins where they've set up sleeping bags
* Dr_Henry_Jones follows Mina in
<Ravion_Brutus> "Cozy."
<Aneki> wait, what?
<Cliven> It's not the best of sleeping quarters but it sure as hell beats sleeping out there.
* Aneki interest is piqued.
<Aneki> ..."dad"?
<Dr_Henry_Jones> They all say that until the giant boulder comes crashing down the hallway.
<Cliven> Oh you... come now.. that only happened once.
<Ravion_Brutus> "I'm sure that's the least dangerous thing that could spring in this room."
* Aneki asks Mina.
<Aneki> Is he your -dad-?
* [BNS]Mina nods at Aneki
<[BNS]Mina> Yep!
<Aneki> Where's your mom, then?
* [BNS]Mina throws her arms around Cliven's waist!
<Cliven> Ah!
<Cliven> S-something the matter Mina?
* [BNS]Mina suddenly looks a bit surprised
<[BNS]Mina> M-mom?
<Cliven> Excuse me for a moment.
<Aneki> ?
* Ravion_Brutus becomes visibly uncomfortable and busies himself with his luggage
* Cliven pulls Aneki away from the group.
* [BNS]Mina 's expression changes to one of uncertainty
* [BNS]Mina turns away from the rest of the group
<Aneki> ? ? ?!
<Cliven> [You and Cliven are audibly away from the others now Aneki, in a faraway corridor.]
<Cliven> Aneki was it?
<Lynette> Hm? Mina, are you okay?
<Aneki> Yes. That's my name.
<Aneki> What's the matter?
* Lynette leaves her hand hovering over Mina's shoulder, unsure whether she should bring it down or not.
<[BNS]Mina> I'm... fine.
<[Rut]Janie> Oh, that's right! I never met your mom! I'll bet she's a really nice lady, huh?
<Cliven> Firstly, Mina is an orphan I decide to adopt years ago. Secondly, none of us will ever speak of anything involving Mina's past. Got it?
* Cliven is quite dead serious, he's not playing around anymore.
* Ravion_Brutus cringes
* [BNS]Mina suddenly turns her head to Janie, tears starting to well up in her eyes...
<Aneki> Ah, um, okay?
<[Rut]Janie> ... Hey, Mina... how come you're crying...?
<Lynette> ...Mina?
<Aneki> I don't know, so, uh, sorry there. haha.
<Cliven> Just please be mindful of our situation and we'll be fine.
<Ravion_Brutus> "Ah I think I left something..."
* Ravion_Brutus edges out of the room
* [Rut]Janie 's smiling face twists into a neutral mask of horror as it dawns on her.
<[Rut]Janie> ... Did something bad happen?
* Cliven pats Aneki on the shoulder.
* Aneki nods.
<Cliven> Mina is precious to me and I will not forgive anyone who makes her sad.
<Aneki> I still don't know about a lot of stuff, so...
<Aneki> I leave myself to your care, mister.
* Cliven nods.
<Cliven> The others are waiting for us now, please come along.
<Aneki> aye.
<[Rut]Janie> Mina...?
<Cliven>  And be sure to apologize to her.
* Cliven stops before leaving to join the other group.
* Lynette gently grips Mina's arm, hoping to comfort or at least reassure her.
* [BNS]Mina is on the verge of breaking down...
<[Rut]Janie> ...
* Aneki appears!
* [Rut]Janie doesn't know what to do!
* [BNS]Mina is using all of her willpower not to cry...
* Ravion_Brutus decides to walk over an offer a hankerchief to Mina. He seems extremely nervous
* [BNS]Mina hastily accepts the handkerchief and buries her face in it.
<[Rut]Janie> Aah, um...
* Cliven sighs as he sees his little girl on the verge of crying again and appraoches the group. He announces cheerfully~
<Cliven> There is a pool awaiting us down below if anyone is interested.~
<[Rut]Janie> I-I don't know what I did, but I'm awful sorry!
* Aneki is in a very, very awkward situation.
<Cliven> I'm sure you girls all need a nice bathe after dealing with all that sweaty humid jungle right?
<Aneki> man, apologizing is SO not my thing...
<[Rut]Janie> Um, yeah... Good idea, Mister Cliven.
<Lynette> Yes... Right you are, sir. Here, come along.
* Lynette gently tries to lead Mina along in that direction.
* [BNS]Mina resists the leading
<[BNS]Mina> ...I'm fine, you go.
<Cliven> Lynette.
* Ravion_Brutus doesn't move
* Cliven looks at her, and nods just a bit.
<Aneki> Don't worry. I'll follow you in a bit.
* Aneki sit besides Mina
<Aneki> and I'm not good with crowds, too.
* Lynette nods, leaving them to their business. She looks worried.
<Aneki> I'd rather chill here with this little one.
* Aneki pets.
* [Rut]Janie trots off with the others, looking perturbed. She doesn't seem to understand what happened.
* [Rut]Janie keeps glancing back at Mina as she leaves.
* Lynette claps Janie on the shoulder and shakes her head.
<[Rut]Janie> But...
<Cliven> How about you Henry? Mind a bath too?
<Lynette> I know. I don't like it either.
<Dr_Henry_Jones> I'm fine, I'm just gonna hit the sack, it's been a long day.
* Dr_Henry_Jones retires to one of the sleeping bags...
<Cliven> Rest well then Doctor.
<Ravion_Brutus> "Well I know when my presence should be past tense.  You may keep the hankerchief mon amor."
* Ravion_Brutus turns to go anywhere else
* [BNS]Mina is sitting on her own sleeping bag, still clutching the handkerchief
* Aneki waves at the young man. Bon Voyage.
* Lynette walks along with Janie, deep in thought. What a... situation...
<Aneki> ...
* Aneki just kinda sit besides Mina for now. Thinking about how to actually apologize someone. Never did that in her entire life.
<Lynette> Janie... what do you think we should do?
<[Rut]Janie> Aw, gee, Lyn. I dunno what's going on!
* [Rut]Janie looks down, deep in thought. As she does, Lynette notices that there's a bulge in her pants. It -moves-.
* Lynette does a double take, but decides to ignore it.
* Cliven sits around, cleaning off various things.
<Cliven> Don't mind me you two.
* Aneki glances at Mina, observing. Aw, sheesh. what to do now?
<[Rut]Janie> Huh? What's the matter, Lyn?
<Lynette> It's nothing. At least in the face of what just happened.
* Aneki place her hand on Mina's head, stroking it a little.
<Aneki> ...
* [BNS]Mina sniffles
<Aneki> Hey. Big girl doesn't cry.
* Aneki pets.
* [BNS]Mina inhales, then rolls over onto her sleeping bag, her back facing Aneki, still sniffling a little
<[Rut]Janie> But I don't know what just happened? Whatcha looking at?
<Aneki> ...
<[Rut]Janie> [=-= first sentence was supposed to have a period.]
* Aneki can't really do anything. She's not a very social type to boot.
<Lynette> ...Probably nothing. Don't mind it.
* Aneki , instead of saying anything that might aggravate the situation, just sit there looking at the bonfire (which I suppose there is one).
* [Rut]Janie 's "pocket" moves again. It seems to wrap around her hip, just below the waistline. She doesn't seem to notice.
* [BNS]Mina slowly drifts off to sleep...
<Aneki> sigh... guess I still have a long way to go.
* Aneki tug the blanket over Mina.
* Aneki sits besides her sleeping bag.
<Aneki> Sorry, girl. I don't know you were....like that.
<Aneki> But you're asleep so I guess you can't be hearing this, haha.
* [BNS]Mina fidgets and whimpers in her sleep
<Cliven> ...now you see what I have to deal with Aneki?
<Aneki> kind of.
<Cliven> This girl's alot more fragile than you think so I give her all I can to make sure she never has those memories relapse.
<Aneki> I'm just an outsider, so I speak rash things.
<Aneki> It's my nature.
* Aneki then focus on the bonfire again.
<Cliven> I'll have to talk to the other maids about it too..
* Cliven sighs...
<Aneki> ...
<Cliven> ...cat got your tongue?
<Aneki> I don't talk much.
<Cliven> I'll tell you straight now Aneki.
<Cliven> Things are not looking good for you in my group.
<Aneki> It's fine.
* Aneki waves.
<Aneki> If you don't like my company, I'll just go back to the uni.
<Cliven> Though as such its an initial impression, which should be easily dismissed.
<Aneki> and... get back to my old, boring life.
<Cliven> All I ask you when you are in my group is that you be mindful about things, if there is something doubtful on your mind and if the subject proves to be sensitive to certain ears, let me know and I'd be glad to discuss it with you.
* Aneki smiles.
<Aneki> I don't have one, thankfully.
<Cliven> Have one...what?
<Aneki> Just your ordinary girl you can find on the archaeological dig site.
<Aneki> I don't have anything you should really care about.
* Aneki coughs.
<Cliven> I treat my fellow workers and friends alike I don't want them to see me as a master with absolute power.
<Aneki> mm.
* Aneki wipes her hand. There's a small stain of red on it.
<Aneki> I see, I see. Good company you have there.
<Cliven> ...sick too?
* Cliven catches eye of that stain.
<Aneki> hm? nothing. It's nothing major.
<Aneki> Don't worry.
<Cliven> ...I won't tolerate if you gotten my girls sick.
<Aneki> sure, sure.
* Aneki waves.
<Aneki> It's not something I can put on others.
<Aneki> Just me and only me who have to deal with this.
* Cliven nods.
