  1. Vanderbilt, Aokiji glances over those present, and sighs softly, contemplating the crowd slightly.
  2. Maki, Chiyoko says, I..
  3. Zikoro says, Hmm
  4. Maki, Chiyoko says, I don't...realy..
  5. Sugi catches the scroll with a single hand before placing it in his pocket.
  6.
  7. "Thank you I appreciate it." He'd say offering her a faint smile.
  8. Sabaku, Tyrel Sighing, the boy continued to try and regain his Chakra... and bandaged the gash and stab wounds from his sparring match. They hurt less now that he was resting, but it didn't make them any better to have.
  9.
  10. "Did he have to aim for the stomach...? Geez..."
  11. Rin says, Excuse me, Aokiji. What was that message about a mission?
  12. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, The Headmaster was sending two squads out on a mission, yes.
  13. Rin says, Oh.
  14. Sabaku, Tyrel says, And the second was because he thinks the first failed..?
  15. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Because he felt the first needed the backup.
  16. Rin says, What was the mission?
  17. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Now, I have a class to teach.
  18. Robin, Taizen hands Vanderbilt, Aokiji a The Five Elements by Daisuke Kishikami.
  19. Himura, Akihiko says, FIRST
  20. Renehan, Tashiro says, Fuck you.
  21. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Order.
  22. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Or else.
  23. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, I'll wait a while for some more people to arrive.
  24. Renehan, Tashiro thinks, Man, I hope some of my team ACTUALLY SHOW UP so I don't have to take the fall for their inattendance.
  25. Himura, Akihiko impatiently taps his foot.
  26.
  27. He's antsy.
  28. Hikari, Ken says, I see no body on my team here.
  29. Hikari, Ken says, Am I the only one that takes innitiative there?
  30. Yugen, Koi says, Stop complaining.
  31. Mio settled her tablet onto the table before herself, preparing to tap at her notes application so that she could type out what the teacher would be saying.
  32. Vanderbilt, Aokiji calmly leans into the table, a pensive expression on his face.
  33.
  34. "Hrm... One more minute, and then I'll begin, assuming that this is all that we'll get."
  35. Yugen, Koi says, Oi teach.
  36. Kaguya, Chitsuki says, You missed a extra history lesson but I will fill you in later. Is that alright?
  37. Renehan, Tashiro says, Yeah, that'd be great.
  38. Senzo, Sakaki sits down and prepares to take notes on anything he didn't already full well know.
  39. Kaguya, Chitsuki would see the paper air plane and like a protective big sister she would grab it and crush it in her hand. She gives the male a glance but nothing more as she focused on the teacher now.
  40. Vanderbilt, Aokiji settles into his chair, relaxing backwards and templing his hands on his desk. His eyes veer over those present, as he soaks in his attendees.
  41.
  42. "Good evening, class. Today we'll be learning the basics of the five elements utilized by Shinobi; both what they are good for, and how to combat them. This lecture is focused on the theory, and tactics related to those elements- not practical use of them or actual Ninjutsu. With that said.."
  43.
  44. He cracks his shoulders, a relaxed smile on his face.
  45.
  46. "Who can name for me the five basic elements?"
  47. Yugen, Koi raises his hand.
  48. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Speak.
  49. Hikari, Ken raises hand.
  50. Hikari, Ken thinks, Tartar sauce!
  51. Vanderbilt, Aokiji gestures at Koi, who raised his hand first.
  52. Himura, Akihiko raises his hand.
  53. Yugen, Koi says, Katon, Suiton, Doton, Raiton, Fuuton.
  54. Himura, Velvet thinks, Kill me.
  55. Senju, Chieko thinks, Hm.
  56. Hikari, Ken thinks, Pshh, no. It's fire, water, earth, lightning, wind. Duh.
  57. Mio stood from her seat, moving toward Rin and grabbing hold of his hand before moving toward the front. She quickly muttered toward Tashiro, "Could you scooch so we can sit together?"
  58. Senzo, Scarlet thinks, Wish we could've sat at a table as a team... and not next to the guy that called his team 'prey'...
  59. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Correct.
  60. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Katon, also known as Fire.
  61. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Suiton, also known as Water.
  62. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Doton, which is Earth.
  63. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Raiton, which is lightning.
  64. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Fuuton, which is Wind.
  65. Senzo, Scarlet glances over her shoulder, at Velvet.
  66.
  67. <We already learned this, too..> She muses, turning her head back shortly after.
  68. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, These words are totally exchangable, and mean the same basic thing.
  69. Himura, Akihiko thinks, Murder, Mutilation, Death, Evisceration, Decapitation are the five elements...
  70. Rin thinks, Oh. Mio's here too.
  71. Vanderbilt, Aokiji leans into the table, and thinks for a moment.
  72.
  73. "So. The circle of elemental weaknesses is pretty simple. Fire conquers wind, wind conquers lightning, lightning conquers water, and water conquers fire- the circle is as such." He says calmly; as he forms a single handseal, and focuses.
  74.
  75. Particles of water and light refract and rise into the air; forming a series of simple diagrams depicting a fire attack consuming a wind attack to spiral on towards the initial user of the wind attack, only for the enhanced fire technique to be consumed by water; which the other conjures a wall of earth to block.
  76.
  77. It's a quick back and forth, and then the illussion fades.
  78.
  79. "So. We'll start with Katon. Can anyone tell me the main strength of Katon Ninjutsu as an element?"
  80. Renehan, Tashiro says, Uh, it burns flammable stuff?
  81. Renehan, Tashiro says, So it's better for causing damage to hard targets like buildings.
  82. Senju, Chieko thinks, Mukuro used it in one easy way. .
  83. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, .. Correct, but raise your hand next time.
  84. Senju, Chieko raises her hand.
  85. Hikari, Ken raised hand.
  86. Vanderbilt, Aokiji gestures to Chieko.
  87.
  88. "Yes?"
  89. Senju, Chieko says, Crowd control when it comes to fire?
  90. Renehan, Tashiro thinks, Hrm.. Area denial, too?
  91. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Crowd Control is a general strength of Ninjutsu as a whole, fire is no better or worse at it than others.
  92. Hikari, Ken keeps his hand raised.
  93. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Ken?
  94. Hikari, Ken says, For light.
  95. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, ... Accurate, I suppose.
  96. Sabaku, Tyrel raises his hand too. Why not?
  97. Ozias, Hirotaka thinks, I didn't think any classes started today!
  98. Vanderbilt, Aokiji shakes his head, and then speaks again.
  99.
  100. "Fire is one of the more destructive elements of the five. It is primarily utilized by expelling fire from one's lungs and mouth, though some, few, techniques, do deviate from this. It's also an emotionally charged art; excitement and anger are key for tapping into the power of Katon. Katon is weakend by Suiton, as water can put out flames; but Fuuton tends to be consumed by the fire, increasing the power and speed of a Katon attack greatly." He explains simply.
  101.
  102. "As for it's tactical applications; it is ideal for damaging structures, as Tashiro said. It is also exceptional at crowd control, but most elements are; that's not unique to fire. Fire is mostly favored for the raw damage and pain it can cause, both to villages of wood, and fleshy targets." He explains calmly.
  103.
  104. "Any questions about Katon?"
  105. Senzo, Scarlet thinks, Isn't all ninjutsu painful...
  106. Renehan, Tashiro leans to one side, a 'thud' audible as the butt of his polearm presses to the wood floor. He seems to use it as an incredibly lazy way of standing up, like a 'pole lift' from sitting to standing, so he didn't have to take any effort whatsoever with his upper body. The roughneck then steps across the classroom, and flops down next to either member of his team with a simple motion of dropping into the seat, scratching the openings of his nostrils and making a small, congested snort. All class.
  107. Ozias, Hirotaka hadn't been yelled at yet, so the Ozias simply tried to make his way over to a seat with Durendal, hoping that he wouldn't be punished.
  108. Hikari, Ken raises hand.
  109. Bostar, Noel says, ....
  110. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Yes?
  111. Bostar, Noel says, This isn't the headmaster offices..
  112. Bostar, Noel says, What's going on here?
  113. Hikari, Ken says, Can you put a fluid on someone to make fire burn hotter?
  114. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, This is a lesson on the five elements of Ninjutsu, Noel.
  115. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, And Ken, Oil serves that purpose.
  116. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Some Katon Ninjutsu generate gasses or oils that supplement other Katon, even.
  117. Himura, Akihiko raises his hand.
  118. Hikari, Ken writes furiously in his notes.
  119. Mio typed along on her tablet as the teacher spoke, looking over toward Rin every now and then. She offered him an orange juice box.
  120. Mio hands Rin a Orange Juice.
  121. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Yes, Akihiko?
  122. Himura, Akihiko says, How do you beat fire...without elements...
  123. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Hrm.
  124. Himura, Akihiko thinks, I need to punch it.
  125. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Some truly powerful physical techniques- utilizing Chi, for example.
  126. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Can cause pressure waves that would deny a flame technique fuel and oxygen.
  127. Senzo, Scarlet raises her hand.
  128. Bostar, Noel says, ..How do we find out what element we have?
  129. Durendal LaCroix widens his eyes at the mention of a familiar word.
  130. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Chakra Paper, Noel.
  131. Bostar, Noel says, ...Can I got one of those?
  132. Rin took the beverage offered to him by Mio, searching for the foil circle on top of the box before poking his straw through in order to take a sip of the juice.
  133.
  134. "Thanks."
  135. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, I don't have any- they can be requested later.
  136. Bostar, Noel says, ...Alight ..
  137. Rin says, I have a piece of paper he can use.
  138. Rin says, Or she.
  139. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Moving on.
  140. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Water...
  141. Renehan, Tashiro says, Hey, Koshiro, up here.
  142. Rin reached into his pocket, turning around slightly to face Noel's general direction.
  143.
  144. "Here." he said as he held out a piece of paper.
  145. Sombra, Fiona raises a hand.
  146. Miraki raises his hand.
  147. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Auyona.
  148. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Speak.
  149. Bostar, Noel reached over and took it "Thanks.."
  150. Sutoka, Ayona says, It's can do a lot of things! It's versitile!
  151. Sutoka, Ayona says, *It
  152. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Correct. Any examples?
  153. Mio raises her hand.
  154. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Yes, Mio?
  155. Mio says, Well, on top of putting out fires, water can be used for many supplemental things, like the Kirigakure No Jutus.
  156. Naegi, Shotaro says, W-Water c-can be u-used for h-healing too.
  157. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Correct. The Mist Village's signature technique is a good example of the style's versatility. FIona, yes?
  158. Himura, Velvet has fallen asleep at this point.
  159. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Fiona. Did you have something to say?
  160. Senzo, Scarlet slumps against the desk with her arms folded upon it, and her chin resting upon one of her forearms.
  161. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, It seems not.
  162. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Very wel then. Bonus Question, then-
  163. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Can anyone tell me the name of an advanced release combining fire and water?
  164. Mio raises her hand.
  165. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Yes, Mio?
  166. Hikari, Ken raises hand.
  167. Mio says, Boil Release.
  168. Himura, Akihiko thinks, The fuck
  169. Durendal LaCroix thinks, Hmm..?
  170. Senzo, Scarlet thinks, So Water Release users can't just heat their water so it reaches a boiling point? That's... boring.
  171. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Correct.
  172. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Boil is an advanced release characterized by two varitions; One in which it is used to enhance ones own strength, and another that creates damaging zones of boiling mist
  173. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, It is achieved by combining fire and water, and is relatively high level.
  174. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Next, we'll discuss Earth.
  175. Renehan, Tashiro starts writing notes n' shit.
  176. Renehan, Tashiro has gone AFK!
  177. Mio continued to tap along the screen for her note-taking, furrowing her brow.
  178. Ozias, Hirotaka had been scribbling down a few things in a scroll.
  179. Vanderbilt, Aokiji creates another projection using his Ninjutsu, showing a depiction of a man on a flat field, who slams his foot down to create a wall which blocks a spear of fire, breaking it upon it.
  180.
  181. "Earth Release, or Doton, is a strong element. It is characterized by a defensive bent, and many Doton users are typically considered sturdy individuals. They are known for rock solid mindsets, and terrain alteration. Doton has few direct attacks, favoring techniques that manipulate the battlefield- but it does have a number of them, nonetheless. It is weak against lightning, which tends to obliterate rock and tear through it... but Suiton usually just turns earth into mud- which many Doton techniques utilize to great effect."
  182.
  183. He thinks for a moment, then smiles.
  184.
  185. "Any questions or tactical suggestions regarding Doton?"
  186. Renehan, Tashiro has come back from AFK!
  187. Durendal LaCroix lifts his hand.
  188. Ozias, Hirotaka raised his hand.
  189. Renehan, Tashiro has gone AFK!
  190. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Yes, Durendal?
  191. Durendal LaCroix says, In regards to manipulating the battlefield, this may prove useful for such things as attaining higher ground in order to combat larger forces with crowd control effects.
  192. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Correct.
  193. Sutoka, Ayona much like a cat, is starting to lose interest as she yawns heavily.
  194. Hikari, Ken raises hand.
  195. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Yes, Ken?
  196. Hikari, Ken says, So fire and earth is good for crowd control?
  197. Hikari, Ken says, So one earth user and one fire user is all an army needs?
  198. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Accurate, yes. So is Water, and so is Wind. And so is Lightning.
  199. Ozias, Hirotaka raised his hand again.
  200. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, All Ninjutsu is good for crowd control. And to suggest that an army could function with only a single user of either is folly.
  201. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Yes, Hirotaka?
  202. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Correct, Hirotaka. While offensive doton techniques exist.. they are the minority. Yes, Miraki?
  203. Miraki says, Would it be one of teh better elements for sneak attacks?
  204. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, It's up there, yes. Concealment in the earth is one of their signature Jutsu.
  205. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Now.
  206. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Bonus question.
  207. Senzo, Scarlet keeps her hand raised.
  208. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Does the Element of Ear- Yes, Scarlet?
  209. Senzo, Scarlet says, May I head to the bathroom?
  210. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, ... Yes, but I won't pause for you.
  211. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Now, as I was saying.
  212. Senzo, Scarlet says, --alright. Thank you.
  213. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Does The Element of Earth permit advanced users to Fly? Yes or no?
  214. Hikari, Ken raises hand.
  215. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Yes, Ken?
  216. Hikari, Ken says, Yes by levitating rocks.
  217. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Partial Credit.
  218. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Yes, but that's not how.
  219. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, There exist advanced Doton techniques that manipulate an individuals personal gravity, enabling flight.
  220. Miraki says, Interesting.
  221. Hikari, Ken says, Really?
  222. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, There is an inverse of that technique that increases an objects density, as well.
  223. Ozias, Hirotaka thinks, That sounds so cool..
  224. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, I'm not sure how that's Doton, but it exists.
  225. Hikari, Ken says, So people would rather change their own gravity then use rocks?
  226. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Well, changing your own gravity is more effective.
  227. Durendal LaCroix thinks, That's... a thing?
  228. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Now..
  229. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Next, we'll handle wind.
  230. Vanderbilt, Aokiji leans forwards.
  231.
  232. "Winds main advantage is the difficulty in percieving many of it's techniques; it's hard to see something as intangible as a gust of wind until it hits you, after all. Wind is also known for keen precision and sharp penetrative power; it can easily be shaped to eviscerate and maim others." He explains calmly.
  233.
  234. "It is also valuable to defend against projectiles; being capable of repulsing them if the wind is stronger than the physical force of the projectile, or altering their course in the air. This means it can also be used to empower ones physical projectiles." He explains calmly.
  235.
  236. "It can be combined with Katon to increase the range and speed of a technique, as well as the raw damage. It also works superbly against lightning; acting as an insulator to dampen and contain Raiton techniques. Finally, it is excellent when combined with Suiton, adding force to the technique. Wind is one of the more versatile elements, all in all."
  237.
  238. "Questions and tactical suggestions?"
  239. Mio raises her hand.
  240. Rin lifted a hand into the air level with his head.
  241. Mio quickly brought her hand down so that Rin could participate.
  242. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Yes, Rin?
  243. Rin says, The Kazekage taught us that wind is best used for cutting, but it's also one of the strongest elements because it can be used almost anywhere and can be generated just by breathing.
  244. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, I see.
  245. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, That's accurate to an extent; however. That makes it one of the most versatile and easy to use.
  246. Mio raises her hand once more.
  247. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, But none of the basic elements are innately superior to the other.
  248. Rin says, He also said it's the best for killing because it's the only element that can kill without leaving a trace.
  249. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Rather they each have variable strengths and weaknesses. Still.
  250. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Wind does have the strenghts you mentioned.
  251. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Yes, Mio?
  252. Mio says, Is there a technique that extracts the air from a person's lungs? ~
  253. Naegi, Shotaro scoots away from Mio.
  254. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, It is hypothetically possible, but I don't know of one.
  255. Mio says, I see, thank you.
  256. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, It would likely be a relatively high rank technique.
  257. Miraki raises his hand.
  258. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Yes, Miraki?
  259. Naegi, Shotaro thinks, I thought I was designing Valerios.
  260. Naegi, Shotaro thinks, Why am I here?
  261. Miraki says, I'd assume there is some ability that allows you flight?
  262. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Amusingly?
  263. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, I've never encountered a wind user capable of flight, only a doton user.
  264. Hikari, Ken says, This is stupidd.
  265. Durendal LaCroix thinks, Ironic.
  266. Miraki says, What the heck.
  267. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Though it is, as noted, hypothetically possible; perhaps with a wing-like apprataus, carrying oneself on gusts of wind?
  268. Himura, Akihiko says, The jounin...
  269. Himura, Akihiko says, Said he can...
  270. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Hrm. Interesting.
  271. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, I'll have to speak with him later, sounds fascinating- I use Wind myself.
  272. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Anyway... Bonus question for Wind: What advanced release is composed of both Wind and Earth, and no other?
  273. Hikari, Ken says, Uhh dust?
  274. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, That uses more than just wind and Earth.
  275. Sutoka, Ayona says, It uses fire too!
  276. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, There is one that uses /only/ wind and earth.
  277. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Can anyone name it?
  278. Naegi, Shotaro says, ....
  279. Sutoka, Ayona says, But, crystal only uses wind and earth!
  280. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Correct- Crystal Release.
  281. Naegi, Shotaro was about to speak but got jacked by cat.
  282. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Next time raise your hand or it doesn't count.
  283. Bostar, Noel was fooling arond with the chakra paper during class as it reacted to Noel's chakra showing off her elements.
  284.
  285. "....."
  286. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, With that, we'll move on to Lightning, and then I'll ask a few questions and hand out some study material for you to share amongst each other.
  287. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, That's right, we're nearing the end of the tunnel.
  288. Bostar, Noel says, Hey, sensei what does this mean?
  289. Vanderbilt, Aokiji chuckles softly- then glances at Noel.
  290.
  291. "Hrm?"
  292. Bostar, Noel showed him the chakra paper "..I used one of those chakra paper things but I don't know how to read it."
  293. Naegi, Shotaro just got up, and rolled away at this point.
  294. Naegi, Shotaro thinks, I can just leave right? It's college? Optional? Right.
  295. Sutoka, Ayona thinks, I'm getting pretty hungry. . .
  296. Sutoka, Ayona stretches, "Hnngh."
  297. Vanderbilt, Aokiji glances at the paper.
  298.
  299. "Lightning and Earth Release." He says calmly, before looking up at the class.
  300.
  301. "So. Speaking of lightning- Raiton is one of the most destructive and focused elements. It is fast, and can apply stunning to those struck. Furthermore, many advanced Raiton techniques exist which amplify one's physical performance." He explains simply.
  302.
  303. "Its fast, it penetrates, and it can be conducted through Suiton techniques. It also obliterates stone, and if you have access to natural lightning, manipulating that can greatly enhance the power of your Raiton. It's major weakness is Fuuton, which acts as an insulator against lightning. Now.."
  304.
  305. He looks around calmly.
  306.
  307. "Any questions or tactical suggestions?"
  308. Shinku raises his hand.
  309. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Yes, Shinku?
  310. Shinku says, Always aim for the chest!
  311. Renehan, Tashiro slowly brings up his hand, the other tapping a pencil on the desk.
  312. Mio raises her hand for a future question.
  313. Renehan, Tashiro has come back from AFK!
  314. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, . . . that goes without saying for most attacks of a ranged nature, actually. The chest is an easy to hit center of mass. Yes, Tashiro?
  315. Durendal LaCroix lifts his hand in waiting.
  316. Ozias, Hirotaka raised his hand.
  317. Renehan, Tashiro says, Hrm.
  318. Yugen, Koi says, Mm.
  319. Renehan, Tashiro says, Would Raiton not be more effective against a metal-armed and armored force?
  320. Renehan, Tashiro says, Thus making it better for taking down a heavily armored opponent?
  321. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Correct, because their metal armor would be highly conductive, and make it harder for them to dodge.
  322. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, This combined with Raiton's penetrative power makes it excellent against those reliant on heavy armor of a metal nature.
  323. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Next- Mio?
  324. Mio says, Is it possible to use lightning techniques to resuscitate someone's heart?
  325. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Theoretically, if one was a skilled medic, yes.
  326. Renehan, Tashiro says, That's pretty cool, actually.
  327. Mio tapped her chin, nodding her head to him and writing that down.
  328. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, One could create a Raiton technique that fills the role of a defibrillator.
  329. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, But that would have to be a specially constructed technique, not just any raiton attack.
  330. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Next- Durendal.
  331. Mio thinks, Let's hope I get lightning or wind..
  332. Renehan, Tashiro dips to get some scooby snax
  333. Durendal LaCroix says, Is it possible to divert Chakra-based lightning away from yourself by using lightning's natural interactions with conductors?
  334. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Yes. One example I've used before myself is to throw metal shuriken away from oneself, towards a technique; the lightning arced to them, buying me time and space to evade.
  335. Durendal LaCroix nods slowly, acknowledging this tactic.
  336. Renehan, Tashiro comes back double-fisting two gallon milk bottles.
  337. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Next- Ozias, Hirotaka
  338. Himura, Velvet lifts up her hand finally.
  339. Sutoka, Ayona stares at the milk.
  340. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Alright, that's one more question then I'll progress the lesson, after Ozias and Velvet.
  341. Renehan, Tashiro looks between the milk and Ayona - and starts necking one of the bottles, upending it and chugging with all the power of a professional contest eater.
  342. Ozias, Hirotaka nodded his head.
  343.
  344. "I kinda have two, so sorry but uhh.... you said that wind is possibly one of the most useful elements at least a little bit becaue it can be used anywhere without any kind of setup needed, but couldn't you say the same of lightning?"
  345.
  346. He'd pause to give the teacher some time to answer it, just before moving on to the next! "Also, is there an optimal way to use lightning? I'm really interested in it, and I was wondering if there are some uses that are better than others, or if there is a certain style that lends itself to working well?"
  347. Mio thinks, Hm.. I suppose I'll make that a goal of mine in the future.
  348. Sutoka, Ayona suddenly has a look somewhere between dispair, envy, and anger.
  349.
  350. <No fair. . .>
  351. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, You are quite right. Lightning shares that strength of winds; It is highly useful in terms of the fact there are no enviromental factors that limit it. As for an 'optimal' way. . .
  352. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Lightning is one of the better elements for supplementing ones Taijutsu or Weaponry based techniques, and it's penetrative power is enormous.
  353. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, I'm not sure about an 'optimal' way- that would be. . .
  354. Mio pats at Rin's shoulder and returns to her note-taking, "Nevermind." She'd whisper.
  355. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Whatever works best with your own style.
  356. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Now, Miss Velvet. Your question?
  357. Miraki digs into his pocket before tossing Ayona a milk box. Why does he have a milk box you may ask? Cause he fucking can.
  358. Miraki hands Sutoka, Ayona a Milk.
  359. Himura, Velvet says, ....
  360. Himura, Velvet says, You spoke about the natural elements so far.
  361. Himura, Velvet says, May I ask --- what are the interactions between Darkness, Light, and the five ninja elements?
  362. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Correct. Kekkai Genkai, advanced releases, are the - Ah.
  363. Sutoka, Ayona suddenly caught the milk Miraki had thrown to her. She'd look ecstatic, her ears standing completely up.
  364.
  365. "Thanks!"
  366.
  367. Tashiro was ignored because she thought it likely a trap.
  368. Miraki says, Mhm.
  369. Renehan, Tashiro has gone AFK!
  370. Sombra, Fiona would idly poke Chieko.
  371. Vanderbilt, Aokiji smiles faintly.
  372.
  373. "On one hand, that is beyond the scope of this lesson. That said, as a Monk, I think I can explain some basics." He says simply.
  374.
  375. "There are dark and light natured variations of each element; these can be considered advanced releases, as you are using light or shadow to supplement an existing element. For example, those who wield holy flame, or hellfire." He explains calmly.
  376.
  377. "The usual effect is less so a true heightening, more an alteration to a more spiritually influenced form that is especially damaging to those who bear the opposite aspect in terms of Light and Darkness." He explains calmly.
  378.
  379. "... Now, the bonus question for Lightning- who can tell me how one would artificially bring about natural lightning for use in a raiton technique?"
  380. Miraki raises his hand.
  381. Hikari, Ken raises hand.
  382. Ozias, Hirotaka raised his hand.
  383. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Yes, Miraki?
  384. Miraki says, Fire.
  385. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Explain.
  386. Hikari, Ken gets ready to take furious notes.
  387. Miraki says, Heat rising into the air can create storm clouds.
  388. Hikari, Ken thinks, Mhm, Mhm.
  389. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Correct.
  390. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Now, for the final question..
  391. Hikari, Ken raises hand.
  392. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, . . .Yes, Ken?
  393. Hikari, Ken says, How much fire is needed to create storm clouds?
  394. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, A /lot/.
  395. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, A very, very large amount.
  396. Hikari, Ken frowns.
  397. Vanderbilt, Aokiji cracks his shoulders.
  398.
  399. "Now, I've mentioned a few so far. But who can tell me what an advanced release /is/, precisely? That is- what constitutes a Kekkai Genkai element?"
  400. Miraki raises his hand.
  401. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Yes, Miraki?
  402. Miraki says, Isn't it anything that isn't one of the basic elements or uses a combination of two or more?
  403. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, In effect, yes.
  404. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Not all Advanced releases use more than one basic element, though.
  405. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Some, such as Steel Release, are simply advanced versions of a single element.
  406. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, And others, such as the Shinobi Dark Release the Shirogane use, are totally divorced from the traditional elements.
  407. Jules Lemaître enters.
  408. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Can anyone tell me the usual advantage that Advanced Releases, in general, possess over the basic releases?
  409. Hikari, Ken raises hand.
  410. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Yes, Ken?
  411. Hikari, Ken says, No weaknesses?
  412. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Not true. They tend to have unusual weaknesses, but they do possess weaknesses.
  413. Himura, Akihiko raises his hand.
  414. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Though there are /some/ advanced Releases, such as Ice, that have no weaknesses.
  415. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, It's just not universally true. Yes, Akihiko?
  416. Himura, Akihiko says, They're the STRONGEST!
  417. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, True. Advanced Releases tend to simply have more raw power than non-advanced releases.
  418. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, They are also more difficult to learn.
  419. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, And more difficult to master, as well.
  420. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, They are the pinnacle of Ninjutsu, for most.
  421. Himura, Akihiko says, Still not stronger than me.
  422. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Now.
  423. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, That summarizes the lessons. I have four study documents I can pass out.
  424. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, I expect you to share them with your comrades, and to make copies.
  425. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Understood?
  426. Sombra, Fiona would nod.
  427. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, The first four people who raise their hands get them to distribute.
  428. Maki, Chiyoko says, ...
  429. Sombra, Fiona riases her hand.
  430. Jules Lemaître thinks, Seems like I'm late.
  431. Maki, Chiyoko returns to reality, she's been in lala land.
  432. Himura, Akihiko raises hand.
  433. Koshiro raises his hand.
  434. Sutoka, Ayona raised her hand.
  435. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, So, Fiona, Akihiko, Koshiro, and Ayona. Come to the front.
  436. Vanderbilt, Aokiji hands Sutoka, Ayona a Elements Lesson Plan.
  437. Mio says, . . .
  438. Vanderbilt, Aokiji hands Sombra, Fiona a Elements Lesson Plan .
  439. Koshiro proceeds to the front.
  440. Vanderbilt, Aokiji hands Himura, Akihiko a Elements Lesson Plan.
  441. Vanderbilt, Aokiji hands Koshiro a Elements Lesson Plan.
  442. Himura, Akihiko says, Hehehe.
  443. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Copy and distribute these.
  444. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, If you don't, I'll beat the shit out of you.
  445. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Class is dismissed for today.
  446. Sombra, Fiona says, Yes
  447. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Feel free to linger and ask any questions.
  448. Shinku thinks, That's hardcore.
  449. Kaguya, Chitsuki sweats a bit... she was having trouble wuth a intermit connect and a was out today so she missed most of the lesson. However it was just about elements and she new the basics thanks to the ninja academy. She hoped they didnt talk about anything extra but she was hoping that her teammates would have her back
  450. Sombra, Fiona says, Do we give them to everyone?
  451. Durendal LaCroix says, Thank you for the lesson, teacher.
  452. Himura, Akihiko hands Vanderbilt, Aokiji a Elements Lesson Plan.
  453. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, I'd like them distributed as widely as possible.
  454. Mio says, What're your plans, Rin?
  455. Sombra, Fiona says, Yes.
  456. Yugen, Koi says, Coulda been better.
  457. Vanderbilt, Aokiji hands Himura, Akihiko a Elements Lesson Plan.
  458. Sutoka, Ayona says, So!
  459. Sutoka, Ayona says, Who wants a copy!
  460. Himura, Akihiko says, Hehehe.
  461. Maki, Chiyoko says, U-Uhm...
  462. Vanderbilt, Aokiji says, Go take of that stuff outside. Get out of my classroom unless you have questions right now.
  463. Miraki says, I'll take one.
  464. Maki, Chiyoko looks up over at Ayona.
  465. Himura, Akihiko says, If...
  466. Sombra, Kuroi says, I have a question when your free sir
  467. Hikari, Ken leaves to go to the imaginary dorm that doesn't exist but everyone pretends do.
  468. Himura, Akihiko says, You want my copy.
  469. Sutoka, Ayona says, Follow me!
  470. Himura, Akihiko says, You have to BEAT ME!
  471. Miraki says, No..
  472. Himura, Akihiko says, HAHAHAHA!
