  1. >Sonata and her Dazzling sisters tried their best trying to live after they lost their powers from Battle of the Bands
  2. >they had no control over their finances and eventually lost their homes
  3. >many months have passed
  4. >things haven't been going so well
  5. >it wouldn't be long until Aria and Adagio abandon Sonata despite her tear-filled pleas
  6. >and then she was alone
  7. >cold and hungry in a strange world
  8. >the only thing she could do was walk aimlessly and cry
  9. >she wandered for days and slept wherever she could at night
  10. >every night was filled with cold sadness
  11. >one night in the local garbage dump, she was looking around for any signs of food
  12. >she barely found anything that was considered tasty or even edible
  13. >she felt like she was at her wits end
  14. >suddenly she finds something in front of her
  15. >one of the dump's street lights was shining over it
  16. >a wooden guitar
  17. >she took off some of the pieces of garbage that was on it
  18. >she didn't know why but she was suddenly interested in it and moved closer to get it out of the pile it was on
  19. >she remembered some of the humans from that school and the ponies back in Equestria used to play this instrument
  20. >she admits she liked the way it sounded
  21. >she got it out of the pile and from what she remembered held it the way the players held it
  22. >she gave it a strum
  23. >it sounded nice for something found in the garbage dump
  24. >she found a book on how to play guitar
  25. >she felt like it was hopeless considering she didn't like reading that much
  26. >surprisingly the book had pictures on what is needed to make certain notes
  27. >Sonata spent the night in the dump learning how to play the guitar
  28. >she was learning quite well
  29. >almost as if she actually knew how to play the whole time
  30. >as the morning sun started to rise, an idea struck her
  31. >if she can't sing then maybe she can play the guitar
  32. >she had the thought of telling her Dazzling sisters but who knows where they could be
  33. >they are probably in another town or city now
  34. >she wonders how they are doing
  35.
  36. >she looked around the dump for any fitting clothes before the garbage men arrived
  37. >there was a bunch of clothes near the security booth
  38. >a pile of sweaters, pants and a scarf
  39. >they weren't that clean but they weren't terrible either
  40. >Sonata grabbed them and put them in a plastic garbage bag and quickly headed out of the dump
  41. >from there she began to move around aimlessly again
  42. >she didn't know what would happen but she didn't care
  43. >she felt like all she needed to do was play the guitar
  44. >Sonata left the town she was in and moved out to another
  45. >she went to a local park and settled there
  46. >it wasn't cold anymore yet there a slight breeze coming through
  47. >Sonata was near a fountain and thought this would be a nice place
  48. >she put down her bag of clothes and sat on it
  49. >from there she set up her new guitar and started playing it
  50. >she was still a beginner but it sounded wonderful
  51. >people were passing by as she wad playing
  52. >but she didn't mind
  53. >she just kept looking at her guitar and continued playing for hours
  54. >she was feeling the joy of making music again
  55. >by the time she decided to stop playing she noticed it was evening already
  56. >she also noticed some money in a small cup in front of her
  57. >it had a lot of coins and a few dollar bills
  58. >it then struck her
  59. >people seem have given her money because of her guitar playing
  60. >she was chuckling at the thought
  61. >she was thinking more on how fun it was making a song again
  62. >she looks at the rising moon
  63. >she wished Aria and Adagio were there
  64.
  65. >Sonata continued to move from town to town, city to city
  66. >played her guitar in parks, town centers and subways
  67. >each song she played was better than the last
  68. >it didn't matter to her if she could sing or not, she only cared about playing that instrument
  69. >she attracted attention from the people who were passing by her
  70. >her music caught their open ears
  71. >they looked at her expressions as she played her melodies
  72. >she looked like she didn't have a care in the world and was happy
  73. >sometimes people give her money
  74. >either by adoration or pity
  75. >from little coins to dollar bills
  76. >she was able to afford food because of her small earnings
  77. >she met a lot of people along the way
  78. >as she traveled day by day
  79. >one time she played guitar
  80. >for some homeless people who were traveling in a boxcar
  81. >she continued playing as she traveled far and wide
  82. >while gazing at the wonders of the world outside
  83. >it made her smile with no more tears
  84. >it made her forget about the battle of the bands and all the struggles she dealt with ever since coming here
  85. >eventually she used the trains as her means of transport
  86. >whether it was paying to get on the train or hopping in a boxcar, it didn't matter
  87. >but every night she would think about her Dazzling sisters and wonder how they are doing
  88. >are they alive? did they find a way to live better? Are they eating? Did they find a way to fix their gems?
  89. >she thought about these things as she looked up to the moon
  90. >sitting alone in a boxcar moving to its next destination
  91.
  92. >many months have passed since Sonata started her travels
  93. >she has traveled to many places and played her guitar for many to hear
  94. >there was a time where she played with a band during a town's music festival
  95. >they loved the way she played even if she couldn't sing well
  96. >Sonata didn't mind
  97. >she just kept playing with that smile on her face while listening to the melodies coming out of her guitar
  98. >she enjoyed the traveling and playing guitar very much
  99. >however one night in a local diner, she started to feel sad
  100. >she soon found out she is probably homesick
  101. >that old place wasn't the best considering everything that happened there but it was still a home to her
  102. >she finished eating her food and set off to go back to her hometown
  103. >maybe Aria and Adagio are still there
  104. >will they even be happy to see her?
  105. >are they even there?
  106. >what will she say if she sees them?
  107. >more questions kept filling her head as she hopped onto a train ready to leave
  108. >she just sat down and looked at the bright moon as the train started to move
  109.
  110. >Sonata made it back a week later
  111. >it was around 10 in the morning
  112. >she was wearing the old clothes she had when she's was with her Dazzling sisters
  113. >they are a bit ragged now
  114. >not mention addition with the jacket she's wearing and the scarf around her neck
  115. >she's been wearing it ever since she left the town
  116. >after she got off the train, she looked around
  117. >not much seemed to have changed
  118. >she forgot how long it's been since she began her journey
  119. >months? a year?
  120. >hard to say
  121. >a spring breeze blew through giving her a small chill
  122. >perhaps a skirt was not the best idea
  123. >she continued walking around the town
  124. >seeing how little has changed since then
  125. >it wouldn't be long until she stopped at the place where it all began
  126. >Canterlot High School
  127. >the place where it all went downhill
  128. >memories of the battle of the bands and all the events before and after came back to her
  129. >she felt sad coming here but at the same time.. she felt fine
  130. >she feels like she has overcome the sadness ever since going on her journey
  131. >however, she felt a bit tired
  132. >the long train rides somehow took a lot out of her
  133. >she decided to sit next to the marble stand
  134. >at the same time, she was wondering what happened to the statue that used to be there
  135. >she sat on the edge and looked around
  136. >it was peaceful
  137. >she felt a gentle spring breeze
  138. >this time it felt a bit warm
  139. >she got out her guitar and set herself up
  140. >she closed her eyes and started playing
  141. >the sound of her acoustic melody echoed around the school's front garden
  142. >...
  143. >someone walked up to her and squeaked when she got closer
  144. >the squeak caused Sonata's eyes to open and look at who was there
  145. >from there she recognized the person standing in near her
  146. >it was that pink haired tambourine girl
  147. >they just looked at each other until the pink haired girl ran to the school
  148. >Sonata wondered if she did anything wrong
  149. >she ended up closing her eyes again and continued playing
  150.
  151. https://youtu.be/-OYyIJUTKEI
  152. I was listening to this song and it gave me this scene
  153.
  154. >the shy pink haired girl named Fluttershy was watching Sonata from her classroom
  155. >the music was reaching the open ears of her classmates
  156. >they were talking how good it sounded and some even started dancing
  157. >Fluttershy got worried about this
  158. >she assumed this is another plot by the Dazzlings and texted her friends about Sonata
  159. >it was lunch time
  160. >a handful of the students decided to eat outside while listening to Sonata
  161. https://youtu.be/vReZjXOuzDc
  162. >Fluttershy came out as well
  163. >so did her friends
  164. >they looked very cautious yet ready to fight
  165. >however one of them, a red and yellow haired girl named Sunset noticed that something was off
  166. >why after a whole year, they would take revenge?
  167. >where are the other two Dazzlings?
  168. >why is she not singing?
  169. >Sunset then noticed something about Sonata
  170. >she doesn't have her gem around her neck
  171. >maybe they are still broken
  172. >it is possible she's hiding it in her pocket
  173. >Sunset tells her friends to stay back and she moves forward
  174.
  175. https://youtu.be/3bijQXgNM0g
  176. >Sunset stops in front of Sonata who opens her eyes and stopped playing
  177. >much the complaints of the students who wanted hear more but eventually left
  178. >Sonata and Sunset look at each other for a minute until the sound of a stomach growling broke the silence
  179. >Sonata stands up and asks Sunset if there is anything to eat nearby
  180. >Sunset asks what she is doing in the high school and where are the other two Dazzlings
  181. >Sonata replies that the answers will not be given unless she gets something to eat
  182. >Sunset was taken back with the answer and had a moment of confusion
  183. >A fluffy pink haired girl named Pinkie popped in and gave her a submarine sandwich
  184. >Sonata thanks Pinkie and began to eat
  185. >Sunset's confusion continued as she looks at Sonata gleefully eating the sandwich
  186. >she asks Pinkie why give her a food when Sonata could be plotting something
  187. >Pinkie responded that Sonata will not answer unless she gets something to eat
  188. >she gave a sandwich and thus it will be quicker and easier to get the answer rather than wasting time looking for food
  189. >Sunset again stating Sonata could just be plotting something against us
  190. >Pinkie responds that she isn't evil
  191. >Sunset and the others responded with a collective WHAT
  192. >Pinkie states that she was helping at a music festival a while back and saw Sonata there
  193. >they had a great time playing music on stage
  194. >Pinkie states that Sonata looked like she really loved playing the guitar so she never really brought up the subject of the Battle of the Bands or anything related to it
  195. >they just enjoyed the festival until Sonata left the day after
  196. >Sonata confirms Pinkie's story to everyone that the music festival was an actual thing
  197. >when they first met, they weren't sure how to respond until Pinkie noticed her guitar
  198. >she was wondering if she can play it
  199. >she played a short song and Pinkie started joining by drumming her hands on a wooden box
  200. >they kept playing along and eventually played on one of the stages
  201. >Sonata forgot the name of it but Pinkie answers that it's called a Cajon
  202. >Sunset asks why Pinkie never mentioned it
  203. >Pinkie responded that Sonata didn't look like she was trying to hypnotize people just looked like she just wanted to play
  204. >The group was still unsure what to say
  205. >Sonata reached for her jacket pocket and took a small gem fragment out
  206. >she shows it to them stating she doesn't have any powers not for a whole year
  207. >it was only her guitar making any music
  208. >Sunset decided to ask where the other two are
  209. >Sonata says they left her and she never saw them since
  210. >she adds how alone she was after being abandoned until she found the guitar and began a year long music filled journey
  211. >the only thing she can remember them by was an old photo of them together
  212. >she takes out a folded piece of paper
  213. >she unfolds it twice revealing an image of the Dazzlings
  214. >a purple haired glasses girl comes closer to Sonata and looks at the picture
  215. >Twilight said she has seen those two before
  216. >Sonata loudly asks where
  217. >she said they work in a local diner near Crystal Prep in the city
  218.
  219. https://youtu.be/U3CsDqVyrWw
  220. >Later that day Sonata, Sunset and her friends headed to the city
  221. >Sunset was driving her car with Pinkie, Sonata and Twilight
  222. >Twilight noticed Sonata didn't say anything
  223. >just looked out the window
  224. >she had a look of uncertainty
  225. >Twilight asked if doing this is the right thing
  226. >Sonata says she doesn't know
  227. >but perhaps it's better off this way
  228. >she wants to really know how they are
  229. >Twilight added the fact they abandoned her to starve and probably die
  230. >Sonata acknowledged it but she doesn't hold a grudge against them
  231. >she just cried endlessly when it first happened but after she went on her journey she realized
  232. >if they never left her, she would've never this amazing journey nor play songs with her guitar
  233. >she stated that perhaps things like this happen for a reason
  234. >Sunset states she's impressed with her
  235. >Sonata jokes by agreeing with her and stating she was always the dumb one out of the Dazzlings
  236. >Pinkie responds she looked more like the fun one
  237. >Sunset just nervously chuckled
  238. >Twilight suddenly points ahead
  239. >in the distance within the city, they see a diner and Crystal Prep beyond it
  240. >Sonata started to clench her hands
  241. >she was scared to see what is going to happen
  242. >even if she forgives her sisters, will they even be happy to see her?
  243. >will they just yell at her again?
  244. >those two were like family
  245. >she kept fumbling her fingers as they got closer to the diner
  246.
  247. >Sunset parked the car and so did the one behind it
  248. >they were just a block away from the diner
  249. > as they walked towards it Sonata's eyes widened
  250. >She can see a very familiar hair style in the windows
  251. >she could never forget that ridiculously puffy and soft hair
  252. >she quickly moved forward and so did Sunset and her friends
  253. >she was about to open the door but Sunset grabbed her arm
  254. >Sonata turned her head to her
  255. >Sunset asked with a worried face if she was sure this is what she wanted
  256. >Sonata nods
  257. >Twilight looks at the window says it's okay for her since it looks like no one is there
  258. >Sonata says she has to do this
  259. >all she wants is to see her sisters even if they hate her
  260. >they can hate her as much as they want but she could never hate them
  261. >Sunset releases her hold on Sonata's arm and tells her to go
  262. >Sonata hugs Sunset and tells her she's sorry for being mean to her
  263. >Sunset also apologizes much to the confusion of Twilight and her friends
  264. >Sonata releases her hug, opens the door and went inside the diner
  265. >Sunset and the rest just stayed outside
  266. >A blue girl named Rainbow thinks this might be a bad idea
  267. >the blond girl next to her named Applejack agreed
  268. >A purple hair fashion girl named Rarity asked why did Sunset apologize
  269. >however they started hearing voices from inside the diner
  270.
  271. >a waitress with very puff hair was clearing the tables
  272. >she heard the door open
  273. >quickly placed the dirty dishes back on the table to talk to the customer
  274. >she greets the customer
  275. "Hello there, welc-"
  276. >the waitress' eyes widened with surprise
  277. "...Sonata?"
  278. "Hey, Dagi."
  279. >she quickly ran to her and put rubbed her hands on Sonata's cheeks
  280. "Y-you're alive?!"
  281. "I could say the same thing, silly."
  282.
  283. >Sonata's Dazzling sister Adagio couldn't believe it
  284. >the person she left behind, who she thought was dead, is actually alive
  285. >all she could do was hug her
  286. "I'm so sorry Sonata. We shouldn't have left you."
  287. >Sonata hugs back
  288. "It's okay Dagi."
  289. >Adagio pulls back
  290. "No it's not okay!"
  291. >Sonata is surprised on how Adagio is acting and asks her what happened
  292. >Adagio explains after Aria and herself left Sonata, they tried to survive but it was difficult with just the two of them
  293. >they needed help but Sonata was gone
  294. >they looked for her all over the town
  295. >they spent a week looking
  296. >it was there Adagio realized she couldn't be the arrogant self as much as she wanted
  297. >she lost someone who was family to her because of that
  298. >Aria was the only person left
  299. >she started looking after her
  300. >after a month in the town they decided to move to the city
  301. >they managed to find a local diner that was willing to hire them
  302. >the lady owner let them live in her apartment until they are willing to find a place of their own
  303. >the rest of the year, Adagio and Aria learned to be a bit nicer to people thanks to the owner
  304. >however at the same time they assumed Sonata was gone for good
  305. >but now Sonata is here and Adagio asks what happened to her
  306. >Sonata tells her how she went on a journey playing guitar, drifting from one town to another and riding trains with homeless people
  307. "I owe everything to this guitar. I probably wouldn't be here if I didn't find this thing."
  308. "You.. play guitar? Can you sing?"
  309. "Oh no, my singing is still terrible but people really like how I play guitar. I even played on stage once."
  310. >Adagio chuckles while hugging Sonata again
  311. >suddenly an upset voice was heard
  312. "Hey! Are you done cleaning or are you just mingling with a customer?!"
  313. >another waitress, Sonata's other Dazzling sister Aria, came out of the kitchen doors and she looked upset
  314. "Who are you even talking to?!"
  315. >Adagio releases Sonata from her embrace and shows the once lost sister to Aria
  316.
  317. >Aria's eyes widened and started to rub them with her arm to make sure she wasn't seeing things
  318. >she opened her eyes wide once more
  319. "...Sonata?"
  320. >Sonata waves at her
  321. "Hey Aria."
  322. >Aria quickly ran to Sonata and hugged her tightly
  323. >all Aria could give out were squeals and attempts of trying not to cry
  324. >Sonata hugged back
  325. "It's good to see you too Aria." she said
  326. >Aria tried to say sorry many times but she kept trying to hold her tears in
  327. >Sonata was really surprised
  328. "Did you girls really miss me that much? I thought I was nothing more than a stupid nuisance."
  329. "You were never a stupid nuisance" said Adagio, "You were our sister."
  330. "Our stupid, stupid sister." said Aria "we never really thought how much you were a part of us until you were actually gone."
  331. >Sonata just smiled
  332. "I always thought of you girls, no matter where I was. After everything, I could never hate you girls. You're my sisters and I love you."
  333. >Aria and Adagio agreed and hugged Sonata tightly
  334. >tears fell down from all three as they bask in the warm embrace
  335. "Welcome back Sonata."
  336.
  337. Sunset and her friends looked on from outside
  338. Sunset turned around
  339. "You want to know why I said sorry to Sonata?"
  340. >her friends nodded
  341. "It's because I think it was our fault this happened."
  342. >the group looked at her and spoke words of confusion
  343. "All the people that we defeated, we helped afterwards. Twilight, Camp Everfree, Juniper, myself included."
  344. >she crosses her arms
  345. "But them, we just let them leave as we smiled in victory."
  346. "But they were evil sirens. They made everyone fight each other and tried to take over the world." said Fluttershy
  347. "Yeah, we had to stop them!" said Rainbow
  348. "I know, but looking at them now makes me wonder what would've happened if we reached our hand out to them. What if we helped them after we defeated them? Would they have suffered the same fate they are dealing with now?"
  349. >she looks at the happily reunited Dazzlings and then looks at her friends
  350. "Because in Equestria, they were evil sirens but now in this world, they are just like us. Human."
  351. >Sunset and her friends watch from afar as they see the once broken sisters reunited
  352. >and that is all what Sonata ever wanted
  353. >to be with her Dazzling sisters again
  354. >and even if they can't sing anymore, it doesn't matter to them
  355. >all they need is each other
  356. >Sunset and her friends offered their help to the Dazzlings sometime later
  357. >But that is another story.
