-Lyons's role is helping students figure out their interests and questions, similar to Naples. Their dissertations are their own. Can get co-advisors for issues which she doesn't know as well.
-Longer term project in lab was working on Hall's cave, and understanding CONSEQUENCES of Pleistocene extinction rather than causes (loss of ecosystem engineers). Community structure changes are important to her.
-Other big project in lab is co-occurrence structure changes, loss of biotic interactions in Holocene. Homogenization of fauna after megafaunal extinctions and agricultural development.
-Brontotheres as ecosystem engineers? How are Asia and America different in the Eocene-Oligocene? IS there a decrease in size , and if so, did it actually change the community structure? Is it due to loss of large mammals or is that just a result of other changes?
-GABI did not result in changes in co-occurrence structure, SA immigrants just filled in different niches.
