- Open letter to the administrators
- It is the wish of your vocal user base that the rules for transfer of sub verse are change. We ask that any default sub be placed under the system account for moderation. We feel that it is important that no user is permitted to control, dictate, or otherwise subvert any default sub. We ask that any sub which suffers such abuses while being a default should be stripped of all moderators instantly and an open call for new moderators be held.
- >first point
- legistically instant removal of moderators under such scenario might not be best, there are nuances, is there mod
- infighting? one mod trying to do shady stuff and the other's are telling them to stop? or is this scenario only eligible
- when it is all mods deemed corrupt?
- >"We ask that any sub which suffers such abuses while being a default should be stripped of all moderators instantly and an
- open call for new moderators be held."
- First thing here is who defines when that point of "abuse" has been reached? secondly whether its the entire mod team or
- one mod, with out a head mod there is no one but Atko to keep them in check so i think having a report line to atko
- is the best solution here rather than drastic action the point of @system is to give atko that control
- Our second point of reform concerns the default theme or un-defaulting of any sub be the decision of the greater community as opposed to the decision of the administrators. Any sub with greater than 10,000 subscribers should be eligible for conversion to a default. Any request for the default of a sub should require a greater than 75% upvoat rate from voters and that the Voats on the request must total greater than 1000 total votes to be converted to a default.
- >second part about the defaults seems fine. Obviously atko will have his own opinion on what is eligible to be a default as
- well since it's his site
- Our third point concerns the eligibility of users for the position of moderators of communities of greater than 25,000 subscribers as 25,000 subscribers is a substantial portion of the user base and greater than the number of active users at any given moment, the moderator of these subs should be required to hold a comment and post contribution point sum that equal to or greater than a count 10% of the subscriber base. The moderator should hold a comment contribution point total for the sub that is greater than 1% of the count of the total subscribers in the sub. Ant default communities or communities with greater than 25,000 subscribers should no longer be considered the property of their moderators. These communities should require regular elections of moderators by popular vote.
- the third point hmm
- That's something I can't get behind fully. That's something me and protectvoat have clear disagreements on. I don't believe
- in regular popularity contests
- nor do I think it wise to allow the communities to vote out mods they simply personally don't like based on their political
- views or unrelated thing to the sub's moderation
- I see a lot of potential for abuse coming from the community
- <ElectroLumus> Is there a way that the effect can be achieved without being a popularity contest?
- In a democracy? not really. Its an issue we see in real life as well
- Pure democracy is a very dangerous thing to be honest. You should see that more than anyone, croweds and groups are easily
- manipulated. Witch hunts are easily started. Communities are easily trampled by outside forces. I only support these rules
- being applied to defaults and other subs atko believes they should be applied to due to their popular and neutral state.
- I don't think such rules should be imposed on niche communities or jerk subs like /v/niggers and /v/fatpeoplehate, these
- these communities do not oporate like normal subs. Though that could be my bias showing.
