  1. First off thanks for taking the time to do this interview. Could you start off by introducing yourself and telling us a bit about your history in the game?:
  2. Wassarrrrp. I'm Connor "eLim" O'Leary and I've been playing Quake Live since October 2008 (CLOSED BETA BOII). Leading up to Quake Live I played a year or
  3. two of Quakeworld (Nyarlathotep influence :3) and a couple of months of RA3. I also played Q4 at WGT 07 and got belted by Wench.
  4. That's pretty much all my Quake Experience :P
  5.
  6.
  7. Leading up to the tournament what has your training regime looked like? Have you played more than you usually would? Perhaps used a training partner?:
  8. Basically I first started playing against a lot of Div3 players to get the hang of force spawns and basic skills down pat. After that I started playing more
  9. Div2 and Div1 players so I actually knew what I was up against. I have played around 8 - 11 duels a day in preparation. I'm pretty pumped :D :D
  10.
  11.
  12. What are your expectations coming into the tournament, do you feel you've got what it takes to make it into the finals bracket?:
  13. Well Xujo is in my group as everyone knows, and as also everyone knows there's been a lot of controversy over whether he should be in Div2 or Div1.
  14. As for me, he's just another player and I think that if I play my best on the day and think clearly, I could definitely take out 1st or 2nd in the group
  15. stages. If that happens, it will only be uphill from there (which doesn't make sense, isn't uphill harder?). So in answer to your question, I definitely
  16. think I'm capable of reaching the finals bracket :]
  17.
  18.
  19. What do you think will be your biggest strength over your opponents? Will you rely on aim or brain? Perhaps a particular map you know you can always win?:
  20. Well, during the course of my training I've had a very very inconsistent time with my weapons. Which worked out well, because it forced me to depend on my
  21. other weapons and how I should play the game. So in a sense, I can rely on my brain based around what my aim is like on the day. It means I can play
  22. more efficiently at what my strengths are. My strength would be adapting to counter their play style. If anyone knows me, they know that I can distinguish
  23. someone's play style (I can pinpoint aliases sometimes if I'm not being retarded on ventrilo). So hopefully I will use that. I believe I'm an all rounder
  24. on all the maps (which can work to a disadvantage too!), so map choice will revolve around what I think of the opponent.
  25.
  26.
  27. Who do you think will give you the hardest time in your group?:
  28. Well it depends. I personally haven't seen Xujo play much lately. But either way I'm willing to bet it will be Xujo. Like come on, a Q3 V* player!
  29.
  30.
  31. What do you think about the 4SG Betting and Gamestah coverage of the tournament again this season?
  32. I think the betting system is a definite win. It can make the matches seem even more pressure filled (ZOMG XUJO IF YOU DONT WIN I LOSE ALL MY MONEY etc etc)
  33. and it can make surprising wins that much better. I think it's a fantastic system! As for Gamestah coverage, I've always been a fan and always will be.
  34. Being able to go over videos and see what people did right and wrong (even seeing what you did wrong according to other people!) has been a plus. Ask Crib ;D
  35.
  36.
  37. Who's your favorite to win your Division? Who do you think the finals will come down too?:
  38. As I poked before, I think Fuze0r could possibly take out the division. He has adapted to playing on Eastern servers really well, and is beating pretty
  39. high class players! This also means he will beast it out on Western servers as well. As for the finals, I really want to say BeazyB and Fuze0r. I think
  40. that would be a fantastic match up, especially considering they're both Western players. Good luck to everyone!
  41.
  42.
  43. Who do you believe will win in Division 1?:
  44. Despite the exhibition map, I think ZenAku has what it takes to win Division 1. If anything, the exhibition match was an eye opener for him, and has
  45. allowed him to rethink his training methods, play styles and preparations for future games. I'm a big fan of young talent. I was a huge fan of Cooller
  46. and Cypher when they entered the Quake scene during their times because they were so young and doing so well. This proves that even unexperienced players
  47. can do well if they just try hard. ZenAku has already proven that with just one year of experience he can do really well and figure out the nooks and crannies
  48. inside Quake Live.
  49.
  50.
  51. Well good luck in the tournament and once again thanks on behalf of 4 Seasons Gaming for taking the time to take the interview! Any shoutouts?:
  52. I shoutout to Mashy on Vent LOLOLOL!11111!!!
  53. and of course my favourite clan, 2good :]
  54. Lataz
