OEDA Faction Lore Details

*This is a modified version of the original writeup for OEDA lore. The original contains information for all unique characters and ranks (character skins), which aren't ready to be shown yet. References to such characters and unreleased weapons/vehicles/items/etc are in this version of the document however due to prominence and importance in OEDA lore which cannot be avoided.

-- History --

OEDA was formed in the late 21st century amidst a push to unite the world's governments in preparation for potential human colonization on other planets and served as an evolution to prior iterations of Earth's primary intergovernmental organizations. This intergovernmental organization would hypothetically not only represent humanity on Earth, but humanity on all other locations that it would settle on. Many nations became member states of OEDA, with few countries being considered for invitation into the organization. Earth would become "Old Earth," while the human colonies of tomorrow would be the so-called "New Earth" for humanity.

The primary objectives for OEDA is to maintain peace and security within humanity. To do this, member nations allocated parts of their militaries to form OEDA's peacekeeping forces, comprised of elite soldiers across the world who voluntarily transferred to OEDA ranking. This peacekeeping force is OEDA's only military force and is only sent to handle human domestic situations within OEDA territories that warrant their jurisdiction. Their headquarters and main offices are located in Europe, specifically in territory made up of modern-day Switzerland and Norway.

In order to avoid relying on member nations to provide equipment for OEDA forces, OEDA began producing its own weapons and equipments for its peacekeeping troops, selling them to member territories interested in obtaining them for their own localized militaries. This ensured OEDA received a steady flow of funding. Furthermore, this eliminated the need for OEDA to seek out weapons from member nations who, if they ever developed a dislike for the organization, could possibly refuse to provide OEDA with necessary resources.

In the midst of Earth's invasion, OEDA was confused and overwhelmed as member nations were swarmed by threats they had never seen before. Shortly after, the organization's influence crumbled and its size was cut down heavily, becoming a mere remnant of what it used to be centuries prior. The organization continued to survive and exist, still holding control over swathes of territory in Europe and small parts of the world. OEDA's influence remained in the shadow of the Civil Security organization, which became the new de facto security force for humanity. Amidst it all, OEDA continued to run its peacekeeping operations, believing organizations like CS to be far too aggressive and militaristic for something as basic as peacekeeping, and produced equipment still for member nations to buy and use. Despite falling from the height of its time, OEDA is still successful and still a large enough entity to play a role in Earth's geopolitics. However, many believe that OEDA lacks the power now to upload its own international laws, having more faith in Civil Security instead. Contrarily, OEDA does have the strength to maintain OEDA international law, but not the proper jurisdiction and influence anymore. OEDA intervention, while justified and correct, attracts the attention of Civil Security authorities and can be construed as prohibited or illegal so the once powerful organization isn't free to do what it pleases worldwide except within its own territory. This doesn't deter the intergovernmental organization to deploy peacekeeping forces to territories now outside their jurisdiction anyways because they are now willing to cast aside laws and regulations of other organizations in order to abide by its primary objective of maintaining peace and security for humanity and solving domestic issues.

Civil Security: OEDA's influence has been reduced significantly to a point where it has lost significant global power to the Civil Security faction. It still maintains geopolitical influence in its only territory in mainland Europe and operates across the world, ignoring CS boundaries for the sake of carrying out OEDA's original purpose. OEDA propaganda is geared towards painting CS as aggressors unfit for basic human defense.

Correction Nine: OEDA was aware of Correction Nine during its existence but it had never interacted with them directly. It's likely OEDA was aware of their experiments.

Usurpations: OEDA barely sees combat against alien combatants due to its main handling of human domestic issues. Even then the aliens encountered don't tend to be Usurpation but Echolocators instead. OEDA has identified Usurpation forces as hostile and openly fires upon them in the rare chance it encounters them.

Crossfire: OEDA keeps tabs on organizations like Crossfire, maintaining a neutral stance with it while making sure it doesn't do anything that may warrant OEDA intervention. OEDA's stance on organizations like Crossfire is that these organizations are free to operate as long as they do so within their own boundaries and that intervening with OEDA peacekeeping missions will lead to OEDA forces having permission to treat Crossfire troops as hostile.

Unified Allegiance: OEDA's main concern and threat is the Unified Allegiance, a terrorist group with a transhumanist ideology working to create an evolved and stronger form of humanity to adopt by incorporating alien technology to human living so that it can repel future alien threats better. To OEDA, UA's constant attempts to assimilate alien technology from races like the Usurpations and Echolocators into human existence are dangerous threats to all of humanity. Entering UA territory is incredibly risky because it easily can ignite a massive war, so OEDA and the UA limit their fighting through information warfare.

Echolocators: OEDA's contact with alien lifeforms have been mainly limited to encountering the mysterious Echolocator race in remote parts of the world, hidden away from view. Surprisingly, these aliens have been neutral with OEDA and very few have actually worked with OEDA members in the past. OEDA seems to be necessary or vital to these aliens' plans. OEDA's most esteemed scout, codename "Atalanta," has been placed under constant watch due to her interaction with a red Echolocator scout, and her fireteam is suspected to be compromised because of the Echolocators' interest in them.

-- Technology --

OEDA technology is highly advanced and futuristic. Their designs tend to be efficient and sleek in appearance. OEDA's weapons are all kinetic in nature as OEDA gunsmiths believe that laser weapons can be very unreliable, especially in rainy or snowing conditions, due to how light blooms and refracts in fog and water; furthermore, it is a sign of respect to the time in which OEDA came about to existence, as energy weapons didn't exist at the time. OEDA gunsmiths believe kinetic weapons are still reliable and useful and thus, OEDA never produces energy weapons such as laser rifles. Equipment can originate from either OEDA's main development branch, which is responsible for producing standard equipment such as the Embattled Armaments weapon line consisting of general usage weaponry such as the EA-109H, EA-107D, and so on; more dangerous and ambitious development projects originate and are sent to OEDA's R&D division, XT Researchworks. They are responsible for making weapons such as the XT-MINI micromissile rifle, the XT-MAEVE micromissile launcher, which became the basis for the EA-109H, and the XT-FATE assault rifle. In addition, XT Researchworks also created OEDA's mascot, a virtual idol-like character named XT-Riven, intentionally designed to be appealing and flashy. This mascot character creates songs and videos for entertainment, though it's also used for propaganda purposes as well, its appeal making the said propaganda very accessible to the general public.

XT Researchworks designs are all about flashiness, with its functionality being just as equal. The reason for their flashiness is to create maximum appeal in their concept weapons. It is a hallmark trait in OEDA XT Researchworks' design language, alongside possessing an inversion of OEDA's color scheme: black is the primary color while white is the secondary color. The only exceptions, where XT Researchworks used the regular OEDA colors, is in the three combat rigs they developed for some of OEDA's best operators: the Atalanta stealth combat rig, the Hecate lethality minimization rig, and the Hades demolitions combat rig. Only one of each rig exists.

General OEDA design language is described as futuristic and highly advanced. For example, the Lynx transport bike has irregular wheels; its design resembles something out of a sci-fi movie. OEDA equipment is just as effective as it is beautiful. It has developed a variety of various equipment and armaments designed for specific or general tasks.

- A/724C Atgeir

The Atgeir is a gunship that also doubles as a transport carrier. It can carry OEDA personnel, supply crates, and even small vehicles with ease. The gunship is outfitted with a rapid fire 30mm machine gun that can obliterate enemy infantry and deal considerable damage to armored vehicles.

- ATC/301 Snowdrop

The Snowdrop is an all-terrain car built for quick transport. It can fit three people inside and is designed to tackle all types of terrain, particularly arctic terrain, with a 4WD drivetrain. It can come outfitted with a .50 BMG machine gun or a quad-rocket launcher for mobile gunfights.

- RTC/729 Lynx

The Lynx is a two-man bike meant purely for transportation. It can achieve a speed up to 225 MPH. The Lynx is also used as civilian transport. All versions lack weapons.

- A/220 Nightshade

The Nightshade is a fast-attack multi-purpose aircraft with VTOL capabilities. Its main purpose is to be an air superiority fighter jet, with capabilities to deliver ground strikes through precision ordnance. Its avionics features a stealth drive that conceals its signature on conventional radar, as well as an LRAD that emits low frequencies to detect objects with.

- G/172 Strikesword

The Strikesword is a tank designed for anti-vehicle combat. It possesses standard armaments found in conventional tanks, though the tank possesses a more abundant amount of defenses, such as chaff, thermal image shielding, and a low frequency LRAD that also has a high frequency option for incapacitation.

- EA-102

The OEDA EA-102 is the standard handgun for general OEDA units on the field. It fires a custom cartridge whose performance lies in between the .44 Magnum and .50 Action Express calibers, allowing for decent stopping power against human adversaries and combat armor. It features an integrated laser sight beneath the barrel on the front end of the pistol frame which can be switched to 1-5mW or infrared mode to use with night vision.

Upon moving the slide back, the barrel locks out of the slide, allowing for the slide to move back and forth. As soon as it moves forward, it picks up and locks the barrel again in place.

Like all general-made equipment, the EA-102 is part of the Embattled Armaments weapons line.

- EA-107D

The OEDA EA-107D is a grenade launcher that specializes in firing all kinds of various munitions. Its main munition type is a sticky decoy grenade, hence the Decoy variant designation, which, when active, mimics gunfire noise in order to distract and confuse enemies in battle. Its main drawback is that the weapon's firing system is locked until the current live grenade ceases to be active. It can also fire high explosive munitions, firing small sticky grenades in bursts of three, allowing for precise micro-sized area of effect suppression.

The pump action is designed to naturally come forward when the gun is recoiled back, with the hand automatically pushing the pump forward as the gun moves back. When the pump moves forward, the barrel unlocks and moves forward as well.

- EA-109H

The OEDA EA-109H is a high explosive grenade launcher that is deployed for widespread area suppression. It fires high explosive impact grenades from a drum at a rapid pace, allowing its user to blanket a specific area with explosive firepower. It is mainly used to destroy or flush out key enemy strongholds. Its sister weapon, the EA-107D, focuses on precision strikes, while the EA-109H focuses on widespread chaos.

- EA-113

The OEDA EA-113 is the standard rifle for general OEDA units on the field. It fires a custom high-velocity 6mm round that can travel faster than other standard rounds of different calibers. It is prized for having incredibly precise accuracy and reliable range, but features a typically average fire rate. Against body armor, the weapon performs stellar but is not a dominating weapon that renders everything else obsolete. On the battlefield, it is well complimented for being reliable and easy to work with, a typical hallmark of refined OEDA weaponry.

- CR-30

The CR-30 is a modular weapons platform famed for its ease of customization for a variety of numerous tactical scenarios. It is not adopted and used by OEDA forces though member nations use it for their own military forces. Its demonstration configuration consists of a simple fixed stock with a vented handguard while an angled grip with an integrated laser is mounted underneath. Other variants include the CR-30SC, the stealth configuration which consists of a standard OEDA 1-3x optical scope, a skeletal fixed stock, and a 30 round magazine holding 7.62x54mm hollow point ammunition, and the CR-30GR, the grenadier version with a shorter handguard, special mounted grenade launcher, and a retractable stock. The GR's length is considerably short as it is supposed to be able to be carried inside a tank.

The CR-30 platform is part of the Combat Rifle weapons line.

- RS-224

The OEDA RS-224 Linear Rifle is a railgun designed for long range fighting. It fires a special intermediate cartridge at Mach 8.1 speeds with a recoil mitigation system in place to work in conjunction with OEDA combat rigs. The kinetic energy imposed by the round upon impact is enough to deal devastating damage, making this a viable anti-vehicle weapon and a lethal anti-infantry weapon. It can tear apart enemy soldiers with ease.

The Linear Rifle is part of the Ranged Superiority weapons line.

- AT-034

The OEDA AT-034 Arachne is a DMR commissioned to OEDA R&D for use by the sole Atalanta combat rig. It is the wearer's signature weapon and was fine-tuned extensively by her after its creation to better fit her fighting style and needs. It fires custom 8mm sabot rounds, loaded in through 25 round magazines. It is internally suppressed with a low profile suppressor to match the Atalanta rig's stealth fighter style and provide reduced recoil, and features a 1mW laser sight integrated in the weapon's carrying handle. The scope was fine tuned by the user to highlight targets and list zeroing distance as well as drop-off distance.

Being made for the Atalanta combat rig, it carries the AT designation.

- AT-213

The OEDA  AT-213 Black Widow is a handgun commissioned to OEDA R&D for use by the sole Atalanta combat rig primarily, though the Hecate combat rig also uses it. It is the main preferred handgun for this particular fireteam. It is a burst fire handgun that features a large suppressor for stealth engagements and reduced recoil, firing the same caliber that the EA-102 fires. It is incredibly accurate and fires its three round bursts quickly, allowing for quick takedowns with minimal trouble. At the end of the frame is an integrated 1mW laser sight tuned for concealment and easier aiming.

- HC-077

The OEDA HC-077 Megaera is a shotgun commissioned to OEDA R&D for use by the sole Hecate combat rig. The Megaera is the signature weapon for the wearer of the Hecate rig. It is a shotgun that shares design elements with the AT-034 Arachne DMR, meant to be a sister weapon for the DMR. It fires 16 gauge shells from a 22 round magazine, with a barrel that makes the weapon have a much tighter choke spread. The incredibly tight spread makes this semi-automatic shotgun a lethal and aggressive precision weapon. Like the AT-034, the carrying handle possesses an integrated 1mW laser sight.

Being made for the Hecate combat rig, it carries the HC designation.

- SS-203

The SS-203 Nightingale is an internally suppressed assault rifle chambered in a variation of .300 Blackout. It is famed for being quiet in battle while also having incredibly minimal recoil while shooting. It comes with a 1x holographic red dot sight for short range combat, as well as a special IR laser for nighttime missions, used in conjunction with NVGs. The SS-203 is used by OEDA Phantasms, especially in interior space breaching.

The Nightingale is the flagship weapon for the Stealth Specialist weapons line.

- XT-MINI

The OEDA XT-MINI is a micromissile firing rifle created by OEDA's R&D division, OEDA XT Researchworks. It is a fully automatic rifle that fires homing micromissiles at its targets. The micromissiles themselves have a small explosive payload, which detonates on impact. Each magazine can carry at least 50 micromissiles. The weapon comes with an integrated scope that can lock on to targets, allowing the micromissiles to steer towards the target in question. The XT-MINI is meant to be the main weapon used by the virtual mascot XT-Riven.

Being a concept weapon made by XT Researchworks, it carries the XT moniker with pride.

- XT-MAEVE

The OEDA XT-MAEVE, short for Mobilized Attack Encounter Vector Explosive, is an automatic drum-fed grenade launcher that fires micromissiles at its targets, much like the XT-MINI. It is derived from the XT-MINI and serves as its sister weapon. The EA-109H grenade launcher is derived from this prototype weapon. The weapon fires a single high-velocity micromissile at its target, the micromissile itself possessing homing capabilities, at a rapid pace. General usage involves using cluster explosive payloads against armored vehicles and key stronghold positions.

- XT-FATE

The OEDA XT-FATE, short for Frontal Assault Tactical Evolution, is an experimental assault rifle designed to fire high-velocity anti-infantry nanite rounds. The weapon can be preset for either offensive or defensive strikes. The ammunition itself can be replicated, albeit slowly. In its offensive strike mode, the weapon can pierce through armored soldiers and light armored vehicles, and delivers more kinetic energy upon impact. Its defensive mode focuses purely on incapacitation and disabling of enemy combatants.
