- The gentle and slow fall of the snow in the night gave a stark contrast to the drumroll fire of the artillery. It's distance yet steady beat kept him reassured. Looking out to the bombardment the night was illuminated by the lazy downward drift of flares onto enemy positions. His fighting days were behind him, his body pockmarked by bullet and shrapnel wounds; bayonet, burns, and age. Losing himself in though he went back to simpler days and living friends. To be a new officer again, ignorant and blind to the barbarity of war and the monsters of it. To be free again. Now however his biggest concern was this cold, it would take him soon if he couldn't war up. Looking over his shoulder he raised a hand to the women standing just out of sight. "I'm sorry but it is dreadfully cold, and my uniform isn't made for weather. May I please have something warmer to wear?" He heard her step away as someone else stepped onto the patio. "Well Coronal Kilmer, it's my pleasure to finally meet you." Looking over to his right a younger women walked beside him, then took a seat next to him leaving some room between each other. Looking over her he could easily tell this Lilim was someone important by her rank and uniform. "Where are my manors, I am Ventra. Mistress of the demon lords armies here in your lands." Another set of foot steps soon entered as a white fur great coat was draped over him. Looking over at the Kikimora he pulled the coat more over himself. Ventra smiled and snapped her fingers together. "It's the fur from a yeti, quite warm wouldn't you say?" He nodded as another kikimora and a shoggoth came over with a small table and glass chess set respectively. He watched as the set the table and chess set between himself and the lim. She smiled and moved the first piece. "I love little games like this, quite fun really. Coronal, why do you lead your me against my girl? All they want is love, family, and a place to live." He sighed moving a pawn up. "That wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't forced. Forcing a human to do something even if they think its the right choice is still wrong." She smiled and shifted her attention to the battle being waged in the distance. "I didn't force you to play this game, I merely presented the pieces and you still play." Looking at the game then shifting his attention to the thud of the artillery. "What does this game have to do with this war? Is it a game to you?" She shook her head and thought for a moment. "No, this is how I keep my species alive."
