  1. Ahhh, the young woman would have arrived to the house, a bit more happier than usual for an odd reason. Then again, it was probably better that way than anything given how distanced she had been around the house lately. As she motioned down the stairs, she was setting to head out, only to stop and look around, almost as if she was being told to stay.
  2.
  3. Not like it mattered at the moment, but she did have a few plans ahead that she had completely forgotten about! Phoebe noticed her mother was seemingly doing something that wasn't really odd or anything of the sort. Was something wrong? Well, it's not like Phoebe didn't mind when Charlie did nothing, it just seemed like it was a tad bit odd for her to not do anything, you know?
  4.
  5. With that said, she would only pat her mother's shoulder, "Not in your lab today, huh?" She asked, smiling softly towards the Avaline. With her eyes narrowing a bit, the young woman dragged a seat back, leaning in and sitting down herself, "How are you today, mother? I have just been thinking over what I wanted to do, at the moment." As she explained her problems.
  6.
  7. A few blueprints placed on the surface of the table, but they didn't seem to be anything really. It was blank, almost like a empty painting. . That just means there was no art in general. . Moving on, however!
  8.
  9. "Anyway, what's up? You're not in your lab today? What have you been up to?"
  10. (Phoebe Avaline)
  11. "Since when do you call me mother?"
  12.
  13. A typical tone of a distracted mummy as it seemed Charlie was focused on a parchment she had opened onto the table. Next to her, the blueprints Phoebe had set herself. The woman would set her hand on her daughter's as it posed itself on the aforementioned shoulder. Gentle rubs with her thumbs came to be.
  14.
  15. "I needed to jump out of that place. Especially for what I have prepared."
  16.
  17. If Phoebe were to take a closer look, she'd see it was a runic circle of some sort, with symbols resembling a whole lot those in her book. Speaking of which, farther onto the table, the Opacare Runic Tome was set there. It seemed the doctor had prepared this rune for quite some time now, and the details were worthy of an expert.
  18.
  19. "Anyway ... I need you, Phee. I need you to use the power of that book, as well as your skills, to ..."
  20.
  21. Charlie did not hesitate to remove her top, leaving only a bra to cover the more intimate sections. Turning, the blonde Avaline would face the mother's clear white back.
  22.
  23. "Tattoo this on me. And power it up. On the lower back, if you can."
  24. (Charlie Avaline)
  25. "Oh, well, it got your attention, didn't it? Haha.~"
  26.
  27. Phoebe laughed for a moment, before getting back into serious mode, her eyes narrowing a bit as she would tap her chin. With this being done, Phoebe took note of the Opacare Runic Tome, "Hmm. . I've read the book over and over again to be honest. Perhaps I'm getting bored of it and want a new book now. But! It's worthy for now. Maybe making a new book but for occultism alone would help. ." the Avaline shook her head a bit as she tried to shift her attention back to Charlie.
  28.
  29. "Hmm. . . Sure, I suppose." Phoebe said, as she would take note of the runic circle that was on the table. Arching her brow momentarilly, the blonde would heave a light sigh and just read over the circle for a moment. What kind was this supposed to be anyway, "Hmm? If you don't mind me asking, what's with the circle design? It seems more like a ritual runic circle. . Yeah?" She wanted to at least know what she was setting up for her mother.
  30.
  31. At this point, Phoebe would begin to flex her fingers for a tad bit before allowng for mana to fluctuate around the tips of her fingers, gently pressing it against Charlie's back, a bit of a light flair would ensue. She made sure to start it around the midpoin't of the back and trail down to the lower back. That way, the runic circle would begin to set itself up a bit. Occultic mana as always was used with a bit of fire so it would almost inact as a 'tattoo' for her mother rather than runes that were being embedded in her flesh. . It was still runes, just more burned if anything.
  32.
  33. Each layer, each line, each 'drawing' of the circle was the one thing that was noticed for the most part, "Hmm .. I've been thinking for a moment. . It's been a while since we actually took part for that project with that monster." Even though she herself wanted to be one for the most part.
  34.
  35. "Do you think I would still be able to do what I had wanted? Or is it too late? Also, I was thinking of a way to . . . upgrade my blade. Reading and stuff about what to do." As Phoebe spoke, she would slowly continue with her project, just giving her mother some things to talk about while she burned the runes, completely setting up the circle finally.
  36. (Phoebe Avaline)
  37. Phoebe Avaline: <Now for the insides. .>
  38. "It's a seal. If you follow the design carefully, you'll see just how tightly knitted it is to my mana circuits."
  39.
  40. And now, she winced in pain, but only for a little. The pain subsided rather quickly with the help of lightning mana shutting off nerves. Phoebe's carving of the rune would be met with little struggle now that there wouldn't be searing pain from the rather crude initiative.
  41.
  42. "This is part of the monster project ... This rune, it will serve to contain depravity, a lot of it. Which is why you need that book, as you will do a small ritual, when you're done."
  43.
  44. She'd say with a form of authority in her words. Charlie was definitely serious about it all, though she would seem very receptive to the subjects brought forth by her daughter.
  45.
  46. "... Yeah, I think you can still beam for whatever you want. You have the means to work with Yokai, and whatever Occult thing. Just don't throw away the book~ It's a precious artifact."
  47.
  48. The doctor replied, a small smile forming on her visage, one Phoebe could not see as she focused onto the Avaline's back.
  49.
  50. "Huh, tell me about your lead. I could probably help with any upgrade. I'm already helping Alia with her misadventures."
  51. (Charlie Avaline)
  52. "It's not that I want to work with him. It's the fact that I have to figure out how to approach him. I rather prefer not to have my mind messed up just by saying 'hi I need some things from you, can you pretty please hand it over and I will give you anything you want?' . . . Probably. . Wouldn't work. ." She realized that yokai were more fickle anyway.
  53.
  54. At that point, Phoebe would prepared a bit inside, "Hey, you have your projects I have mine. Although yours seem a bit more dangerous and more unknown. Especially since it's on something we don't know about. . I'm just hoping nothing bad happens to you when you get to the final stages of this ritual of yours." The inscriptions, the markings the faint words that were being written down. She made sure it was connected to parts of the back.
  55.
  56. Writing down a bit of the markings didn't take too long. She embedded the runes into points of the mana circuits that were on the mark, "Ahh. . So just like last time, but this time you're now using your body instead of. . parts?" Phoebe asked, now understanding this a bit more than usual. What was her mother planning with all of this? Well, only she would know herself. Phoebe was just there to see her work in action and make sure it wasn't a failure.
  57.
  58. Finally, after a bit of strenuous activity, the runes would be placed. It only took ten minutes, and the last time she had used the book it took nearly forty to fifty minutes for simple runes. Atleast she was being more careful, yet fast in her writing, right?
  59.
  60. "Finished!" She would say with a nod, "We'll do the ritual once you're ready." She would now go to what she had wanted to talk about.
  61.
  62. "Well. . I was reading more about this Dravus figure. Him being called Mordred's reincarnation or whatever?" She arched a brow as she asked that, "Whatever. My main point of this is that, there was a main fight he had done. One against an insect Kaor, Kudana. She was a Infernus Kaor, he was a. . Wind. . Kaor. .I'm not that versed in the names, okay?"
  63.
  64. "Anyway, they were both near imperfection, so it was obvious whoever lost here would decide who would have the right to evolve. I don't know what happened to Dravus or if he evolved, but I do know that Kudana was killed during their battle. Her body wasn't entirely devoured however. My plan is to get the depraved corpse. . well, whatever remains of it to help with my blade. It might be useless over the years, but I think I could make some use of it if some fire is added." She stated.
  65.
  66. A nod was given to Charlie after saying that.
  67. (Phoebe Avaline)
  68. Phoebe Avaline: <I've been saying whatever a lot. . Geez. .>
  69. "I'll be seeing him soon. Perhaps I could get a sample of his blood. That's what you need, right?"
  70.
  71. She endured, painlessly, but still in discomfort. The doctor let the procedure go by, slowly but surely. Charlie wanted this, though going full out on her own body was a first, even for an extremist like her. Something was going on, and it seemed like Phoebe was catching on too.
  72.
  73. "I've done my research, but yes ... It's a leap in the dark. But, given what's coming ... I can't waste time testing this advancement."
  74.
  75. Phoebe would know what Charlie was hesitantly talking about. It was a stressful subject for those aware of what was coming. No one had made an actual announcement yet, and it was thanks to Magnus' network that the family was made aware in advance of the horrors coming.
  76.
  77. A sigh of relief followed the termination of the tattoo. Knowing her daughter, Charlie had no problem taking her word for it when she'd say it was completed and perfectly inscribed.
  78.
  79. "Hmmm, do it now. There should be an incantation in the pages I book marked. It shouldn't be too difficult, as we're not actually sealing anything in there. But, it'll empower the runes to do a job most runes wouldn't be able to."
  80.
  81. Charlie braced herself, as her daughter was instructed to finalize the procedure, and seal the deal with a wicked ritual.
  82.
  83. "Heh ... The Belial Yokai thing. Yeah, quite the urban legend here. They say Dravus never ascended, but it's unknown what happened. But yeah, it's also said he only took Kudana's head. The remains ... Well, guess that'll be a fun adventure. Got a lead, right?"
  84. (Charlie Avaline)
  85. Phoebe Avaline: . . . Wait, so it -is- a ritual circle?
  86. Charlie Avaline: Not really ...
  87. Charlie Avaline: It's a seal, but can be push its full potential with the proper ritual.
  88. Charlie Avaline: It's not like your sword where we needed to add an entire power source in there.
  89. Charlie Avaline: This is simply to make it as efficient as the Sanctuary wanted it to be.
  90. Phoebe sighed a bit, "Blood and horns. Body of an infernus kaor that was once near it's imperfection stages. Two liters of blood. Two horns. One liter will be used as well as the horns in conjunction with the infernus' remains. This is to help boost the magical properties of the blade. The body will also be used to strengthen the blade's close combat skills." He was just a yokai right? Blood and horns shouldn't be a big deal for a large yokai such as him. Not like he was a human being, where two liters of blood would practically make anyone loopy, or near a comatose state. Practically, dead really.
  91.
  92. Plus, with the fact it was a Belial Yokai. . The possibilities would be endless on the skills it may have because of such a depraved thing. . . Though, she was only taking a gander on what could be possible at the moment.
  93.
  94. Anyway, with that stated, she would begin to grab onto the book, opening the pages from left to right as a means to find the right contents of information in regards to an incantation spell suitable for the runic circle, "Hmm. . " Her lips had parted for a moment, mumbling under her exhaled lips before she would begin to speak out loud.
  95.
  96. The words from the incantation were precise, reciting details of depravity, and it being locked up, yet not put away. Like a key to a prison door, it was only allowed to be open when it should be open. That way it wouldn't be forever stored unless her mom had willed it to be that way. The runic markings had begun to slowly glisten in a purple sheen of light. Occultic markings enhancing the properties and forcing it out. She did not skip a line while reciting it.
  97.
  98. There would be a light discharge, but the glowering of the runes would still the there. Empowering the runes and setting them up on the mana circuitry that were on the back. An exhaled sigh would exhale from her lips but that would be all. The ritual was set and the runic circle attached to the mana circuits. It was geared to the depraved, which was now set in stone.
  99.
  100. She stayed silent, staring at Charlie, and patting her shoulder as a means to show that she was now finished.
  101. (Phoebe Avaline)
  102. She felt it, the powerful seal meant to contain a force that had not yet been captured. It was a cage, prepared and tested beforehand. A cage to contain a beast serving as a weapon to fight the world-ending monstrosity. Charlie's mindset was as clear as ever, she was deadset on finishing this experiment, with herself as the first subject to come out of it.
  103.
  104. "Mmmm ..."
  105.
  106. The pain was there, however, as the runes began to flash as a response to the blonde's incantations and the overwhelming influences coming from the tome itself. The detailed locked, the mana charging the rune, the symbiosis with her own mana circuitry. One false branch in the circle, and she'd surely be dead from her mana imploding.
  107.
  108. But both Charlie's and Phoebe's hold of runewriting were beyond that of a novice. They were experts, and had all the time in the world to make sure it was the perfect tattoo. No, that was rather easy compared to what was going to come next, the alchemy portion of the job.
  109.
  110. "Good ... It seems to be working. This should be able to contain the depravity's influence and allow it to release in that specific area when needed."
  111.
  112. Her voice seemed abit hesitant, unsure. This was indeed quite frightening, as it would likely leave her completely deformed if it were to fail.
  113.
  114. "Anyway ... The ingredients for your sword's upgrade seem fine. I can help you with that when not handling this project. Okay?"
  115.
  116. She'd set her top back onto her body, covering her freshly made tattoo before she'd turn to face her daughter.
  117. (Charlie Avaline)
  118. Phoebe nods once, "Let's worry about that after we see the results of your project. . " She'd state, being more worrisome than her mother was on it now apparently. It was obvious her mother was hesitant when continueing with the project, and it was all for good reason. Who knows what could happen when it came to going through all the safety precautions. From runes, to alchemy. . She would probably need something else to help with depraved artifacts as well.
  119.
  120. "You know. . You don't have to do it alone, right? I mean, there will be people watching and making sure that it goes through with the best of care and ability. . Right?" Phoebe wanted to make sure that Charlie had knew this. Phoebe certainly didn't want her mother to just get taken over and turn into a monster just because of her expreiments. . That would've actually been too tragic of a fate for anyone, now wouldn't it?
  121.
  122. Her facial expresssion stayed silent as she would fold her arms, "YOu know. . I rather you don't. . kill yourself over it. .Right?" She placed an arm on her mother's shoulder, smiling faintly, albeit only a tad bit nervously. Considering well, depraved arts in any sort of way always had some dangerous side effects. It wasn't like Holy arts, but it was still dangerous none of the less considering it was depraved.
  123.
  124. "If you want any more precautionary methods before you get into anything else, please tell me. You know I wouldn't mind helping out to make sure it goes out well. . " She paused a bit as she tapped her chin.
  125.
  126. "I assume that is why you wanted the venom too. .Right?"
  127. (Phoebe Avaline)
