  1. Anakis "Libra" Superbia lived in a far off country with a long history. It was ruled by an iron fist and strict religious policies. It was a very prosperous country. All kinds of races, enamored by it's beauty and prestige, sought to live in it. However, this country was selective with it's blessings. It's kindness did not extend to criminals, and those who opposed the upper class, whose numbers were steadily growing.
  2.
  3. To keep the growing population in a tight leash, the King of the country established the death sentence. What might only be considered minor crimes in other countries were considered worthy of the blade in this country. While he was intent on making this country the very epitome of righteousness, his actions have gone past the border of cruelty for that goal.
  4.
  5. But he didn't intend to make the country think he was a tyrant. If his image of a kind king fell apart, it'd jeopardize the peace. Thus, he handed this job down to the captain of one of his guard squads, a tiefling commonly called Commander Superbia.
  6.
  7. These events took place over 200 years ago. That king's whim established an entire bloodline of executioners, The Superbias. To the current day population, they are rumored to be a cursed, demonic lineage of Tieflings who descended from the ferryman of hell himself.
  8.
  9. The populace refuses to touch them, under the assumption contact will curse them. Shopkeepers allow them to take their goods without paying, in fear of taking currency from them. Schoolchildren harrass them, and spread false rumors to further isolate them. The upper class loathe them, and thinks of them as carcass-stinking lower class scum. The lower class wouldn't dare look at them, dreading the idea of having to see a spawn of that family holding a sword above the back of their neck.
  10.
  11. Anakis Superbia was born into such a family, and experienced all of these things. The past 4 heads of the family gave into the harrassment, and faithfully served as executioners with their eyes glued to the floor. Anakis' father was a loathsome retired executioner now senile torturer who enjoys his job far too much. Anakis' mother was an innocent woman who was dragged into the bloodline against her will.
  12.
  13. But, contrary to what is expected from a Superbia, Anakis' poor circumstances and fate made his twisted thirst for retribution and deep hunger for power stronger. His childhood was spent burning medical science into his brain, picking up animal carcasses and selling them so he could buy bread for dinner, and taking care of his sickly mother while his father continued to neglect them.
  14.
  15. Howver, Anakis' will to seek glory for himself was only solidified at the age of 14, when he had to carry out his first execution. He had to behead a murderer. There was a crowd around him, excited to see violence, and his father was observing from far away with the country's current king.
  16.
  17. He had practiced for this day for his entire life. He wasn't the brightest boy in the world, but his instincts were as sharp as wolf's. He knew where he had to hit, he knew how to swing the sword and his body was in good shape. There was no way he'd mess this up.
  18.
  19. But he did. His sword had been switched out with a dull one, and instead of cutting the executee's head off, his neck bent the wrong way, and he was still alive.
  20.
  21. Anakis was confused, and the crowd cried out in disappointment. He tried again, but the head still wouldn't fly off. He tried again, but the sound of bones being crushed had caught his attention more than the flecks of blood that flew off.
  22.
  23. In a blind rage, Anakis began to beat the executee's neck with the dull sword. The crowd started throwing rocks at him, but he didn't stop. He yelled, cried and screamed. This was the day he'd go on the path to gain honor, but he had been pushed 6 feet down into the ground.
  24.
  25. By the time the executee's neck was nothing but an ugly mixture of crushed bone and muscle, the crowd had disappeared, and there was no one left... except for his father and the king, who were laughing the entire time.
  26.
  27. Anakis didn't know why, but he heard their words so clearly. That they switched the swords out, so they could teach that prideful brat a lesson. That he was too full of himself, and needed a lesson to carry out the family duty properly.
  28.
  29. But he realized why. It was because his head was no longer attached to his body, and that it had rolled towards where his father and the duke were talking a walk.
  30.
  31. Anakis did 3 more things that day. One, was to change his name to Libra. Two, was to steal as much string as possible from a local seamstress shop. Three, was to swear he'd kill his father and duke one day.
  32.
  33. That experience wedged the roots of deep-seated hatred into Anakis. He swore to climb up to the very top of the putrid society he lived in, and spit on all of the graves of the people who wronged him. The king who established this terrible practice in the first place, his foolish ancestor who decided to take the job and made it an obligation for all of the children in the family, his callous father, and the disgusting waste people called "the king of this country".
  34.
  35. 6 years later, Anakis, now called "Libra Superbia", has become the head of the Superbias, and the only living Superbia. That failure of an execution he made at the age of 14 had been wiped off his track record, for every single other execution was carried out perfectly with honor. In spite of being a Superbia, this garnered the respect of the population. Not only that, but he had fairly good looks, a seemingly good personality, and a hardworking earnest attitude. So, it's safe to say, out of every Superbia head, he was the one favored most by the population.
  36.
  37. Libra, in his youthful pursuit of vengeance and glory, radiated an aura of pride and mysteriousness that enamored the population. The current king was affected by the rumors himself, and began to think differently of Libra. If only, because one of his cousins had to be put on death row with the worst possible executiom method. The king wanted to soften his death. If he paid Libra, he could have that cousin pass away more peacefully.
  38.
  39. Libra had been waiting for this chance for 6 years. He purposefully made those who went against the king suffer, and those who didn't suffer less. He had also served as a body guard a short amount of time. He even pursued becoming a blood hunter and it's arts to further his own goals. It was a simple idea he carried out, that had fortunately paid off.
  40.
  41. Libra demanded his honor to be restored, for his family name to be declared cleared of the curse, and to be given a large sum of money. If the King would do that for him, Libra will have The King's cousin pass away via beheading while under the effects of alcohol. The king agreed to it.
  42.
  43. But.. that cousin was a tyrannical duke, who regularly killed a number of people in many brutal ways. He had always discarded the bodies through fire, causing many of his victims to be be deemed missing for months, and making their families suffer. Many people were excited to see him beaten on a spinning wheel, for good reason, at least.
  44.
  45. Yet, Libra, blinded by his pursuit of pride, his chance of gaining his honor, and the closest his blade's ever been to the King, paid no mind to this. With the cooperation of the monarchy, this Duke would die a painless death.
  46.
  47. Thus, the day had come. When the populace had arrived, expecting to see the Duke suffer, they only found him bent down on the floor, seemingly so out of it he can't stand up, and Libra with his sword at it's sharpest. No wheel. No metal tools to beat the duke with.
  48.
  49. This had angered the people.
  50.
  51. When Libra raised his sword, a stone was thrown right into his face. He bit his lip, steeled himself, and began to get into position again. And another stone hit him in the stomach.
  52.
  53. The crowd began yelling, demanding justice, demanding a better punishment, and that he was going easy on the duke. He was called the King's dog, scum, low life tiefling, bastard and more.
  54.
  55. By the 11th time Libra tried to position himself, a number of his bones had been shattered, and he was bleeding in a number of areas. But he was determined to lop the head of the duke off, and refused to back down. He reaffirmed himself, knowing that he can take at least 60 more of these stones before he goes down.
  56.
  57. But, by a stroke of luck, the alcohol wore off. The Duke began to wake up, and the crowd noticed. In a hurry to kill that man themselves with his senses intact, their attacks on Libra became stronger. Some of them outright started throwing knives, others climbed the stage. The weary Libra staggered, grabbed the waking duke and beat any climbing person off the stage.
  58.
  59. In a fit of desperation, he began to climb down, and look for a quieter place to kill the Duke. But, the scales had tipped to the end of the greater justice. A rock was thrown into his ankle, causing him to trip. Using this as a chance, the rest of the crowd began to restrain him, grab him and beat him.
  60.
  61. He flailed and howled, refusing to back down and lose this one chance. But his state of panic made him careless. Before he knew it, the stitches holding his neck and head together began to get undone. Libra met his end when his head detached itself from it's body, rolled away from the shocked crowd, and fell to the ground. The back of his head was crushed, causing instant death.
