  3. "Hey, hey! What are you losing hope for? What's with that look on your face!?"
  4. "I dunno, it's just that...we've been working so long and so hard, and for what? To repair all this damage that'll no doubt undo itself the next time a catastrophe unfolds? The ground shakes, the water pours from the heavens with a vengeance...my best friend's garden has been ridden with pestilence and plague. The legendaries, they've all gone mad! And it's all because our Jirachi has gone missing! At this rate, Johto will surely sink back into the sea that spawned it..."
  5. "Don't give up! Even if the Legendary Pocket Monsters hath turned against us, even if we're constantly hounded by haunts and misfortunes, we can always turn to....the Youkai Busters....!"
  6.
  7. In a time far before badges, gyms, leagues, or even technologies such as pokeballs, the regions of Johto and Kanto had all of a sudden been struck with various disasters. First the legendary Pokemon, Celebi and Jirachi, had gone missing out of nowhere, despite being known to frequently mingle with human settlements. Without their miracles, Johto began to quickly fall into ruin, as the remaining legendary pokemon began to turn against and fight one another with no rhyme or reason. This of course led to the increased proliferation of natural disasters, as well as "youkai", a class of pokemon merged with the spirit of a former human and with the common goal of making life harder for the still living, if not ending it entirely. Youkai Pokemon have far greater and much more terrifying capabilities than normal ones, and are completely untamable by humans while they remain a youkai, so this of course isn't a desireable outcome by any means.

  9. This is, of course, where the Youkai Busters come in. A crack team of specialists formed by the Shogunate's top Onmyoudou, the Youkai Busters are usually tasked with the job of purging or purifying these ghoulish beasts before they can cause any further harm.
  10. Your Youkai busting team is but one of many, but that doesn't mean your task is any less difficult; You've been sent to Wakaba Village in the disaster-ridden Johto to investigate a slew of legendary pokemon and Youkai attacks. Perhaps your journey will finally lead you to where Celebi and Jirachi have hidden themselves...

  14. Youkai busters takes place in a historical fantasy AU of Johto, and isn't quite meant to be accurate to how it's depicted in the video game. Mainly, the fact that there are loads of Pokemon, primarily legendaries, that just shouldn't be there. All Pokemon from Gen I-VI are available.
  15.
  16. In this AU, all legendary Pokemon, as well as some of the more intellegent types of Pokemon, and lastly Youkai Pokemon, are capable of taking on human form. Most Legendary Pokemon assume a humanoid form to integrate themselves into human society, where they're treated as local guardians as well as part time celebrities. Youkai Pokemon, however, usually take on human form to decieve and trick others.
  17.
  18. Pokemon Battles still exist, though there's no real organized league for it. Pokeballs don't exist, so to the common man, a Pokemon is treated as a pet would, and can only handle about one or two at a time before things get crowded. To specialists and royalty, however, Pokemon can be easily be contained in special "effigies", magic items that are bound to the spirit of a Pokemon and can summon them at any time. Instead of being captured, a human and a pokemon both consent to a ritual that binds a pokemon to an effigy, where the pokemon can go about its normal life, and occasionally be whisked away to battle on behalf of its human. Effigies are often small objects that represent or are important to the pokemon in some way, such as a scroll or statue depicting them, or their favorite berry. (Any perishable item that goes through the effigy ritual is immediately rendered petrified and inedible)
  19.
  20. Pokedexes don't exist, so you'll just have to get by reading scrolls like everyone else.

  25. Youkai Busters is based primarily around combat, namely a constant series of missions and boss fights broken up by RP sessions. It's much like any other game, just very streamlined. Each scene represents..well...a scene, where mostly everything important goes down. Less important filler moments can be suggested by a player, and are typically expected to fill in downtime.
  26.
  27. Injuries go away after every scene, or when it's most convenient; This isn't normal in this world, but you're Youkai Busters, a step above the rest.
  28. Injuries also dont induce stat losses either, except in particular dire situations.
  29.
  30. You start out at level 10 with 2 level 20 pokemon, the usual. You also each get 5,000 Ryo to start with.
