background: jinae was born in a small community in incheon, south korea in 1997. she lived with her grandparents and younger brother in the countryside of gyeonggi province. she lived with her grandparents since her parents lived overseas, and were too young to look after her and her brother at the time, however, jinae still videochats with them whenever she can. she also loved to rap, yezi being her inspiration, and usually performed covers in her community. she was eventually scouted by yg, and auditioned in 2012, and became a trainee shortly after.
