  1. "Due to not only her (arguably best) approach to the player, but also her importance in the story and expanded personality, Monika is arguably the best girl out of the 4 provided options in Doki Doki Literature Club, a 2017 title produced by Team Salvato for the Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems."

  3. "Compared to other characters in this game, Monika has the most pivotal, and realistic change in personality. Using Sayori as an example, she is shown to be carefree in the first “act” of the game, which quickly converts into a depressing personality in the span of less than an in-game day. While yes, this does play an important role in the story, as her suicide transitions into the 2nd act of the game, it’s mostly out of the blue. Monika however, does show remorse for her actions in act 3 after deleting the other girls. Anyone would have remorse after eliminating their friends."

  5. In this copypasta, we’ll be using Act 2 as reference to compare the characterization of Natsuki and Yuri. While they do have changes in personality that affect the story, it’s due to the influence of Monika, done to indirectly get rid of them, freeing space for herself and you, the protagonist. This immediately destroys any theory or argument that Natsuki and Yuri had any “real” characterization in Act 2, aside from their already established personalities from the beginning of the game.

  7. Now, onto why Monika is the star of DDLC. This is why you’re reading this. First, like previously stated, Monika has the most natural development for anyone in the story. She shows regret at the end of the story for her actions, which would be the natural feeling after committing an act like what Monika has done (although not exactly like what she did, of course”. Now while this was selfish and shows flaws in her character for deleting the other girls, her actions at the end of the game make up for this. Not only does she realize what she’s done, but she’s able to make this up to the player. She restores the other 3 girls, and saves you from Sayori, who is now evil. Finally, she is aware of the game she’s trapped in, and treats the protagonist (or rather, you), as a real person would treat another real person. In the end, while Monika’s selfish desires are what cause the game to drift into the hell that it becomes, her actions are also what set order at the very end of the game, restoring everyone else after being deleted.
