  3.
  4. Dear <name>,
  5.
  6. Now that the course is officially over, we wanted to tell you about several final items:
  7.
  8. · Our Farewell Video is now up on the Coursera web site.
  9.
  10. · We have a final survey that we would love for you to fill out so that we can improve the material for future offerings:
  11. https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/MOOCfeedback2
  12.
  13. · Coursera will send a Statement of Accomplishment to students who scored at least 1000 points (roughly 1/2 of the possible points) OR who scored at least half of the possible points on Quiz 3. We assume they will send it shortly.
  14.
  15. · SaaS TV now has a half-dozen interviews with people from Silicon Valley. Please check out:
  16. http://vimeo.com/channels/saastv
  17.
  18. · Since we weren’t able to bundle the ebook and the print book, we will temporarily make the print book available for $9.99 in case you want to buy it. This version will have all the reported errata fixed, plus two new chapters. (We’ll also make ebook upgrades available at the same time.) We will announce when it is available, but it should be within a week. The $9.99 price will be for a limited time.
  19.
  20. · We will offer (a revised rebroadcast of) this course again in May. It will start Friday May 18, 2012 and end with a final hard deadline of Sunday July 1, 2012. Please tell friends who might be interested! (We have scraped the forums for "bugs" in the homeworks and these will be fixed in the next offering.)
  21.
  22. · We will redo this course in late September as "SaaS part 1" with new lectures and quizzes. We will also offer a new course "SaaS part 2", covering advanced Rails, working in teams, legacy code, operations, performance, and SaaS security, in late October or early November. If you're interested, please include your email in the Surveymonkey survey, since we don't know what Coursera's plans will be and whether we will be able to offer the course through them.
  23.
  24. · An Op-Ed piece about the Berkeley version of the course (with a little about this MOOC) will appear in the May issue of the Communications of the ACM. A preprint of the article and an associated video can be found at http://beta.saasbook.info/. Your friends might be interested in these as well, as well as any instructors you might know who might want to participate in our Beta program in the Fall.
  25.
  26. Here are the stats of this MOOC:
  27. · ~ 20,000 students watched at least one video
  28. · ~ 10,000 students attempted at least one assignment or quiz
  29. · ~ 3,500 students will receive a Statement of Accomplishment
  30.
  31. Thanks for participating in this online experiment. Your testimonials have made all the effort worthwhile!
  32.
  33. The class was certainly was educational for us, and we hope it was for you as well.
  34.
  35. Armando & Dave
