- [credits.txt]
- This page is here to honor all of the people who have contributed to Crystal Clear in some form or fashion; be it play-testing, bug reporting, providing music/graphics, or helping to develop the game in some way. As Crystal Clear continues to grow, the number of people helping fortify it has also grown, increasing the difficulty of maintaining a complete list of credited accomplishments.
- As such, if your name is listed below, then you've made a notable impact on Crystal Clear, and on behalf of the community that is enjoying the fruits of our combined effort, I want to sincerely thank you for all that you've done. -ShockSlayer

- Preface:
- I tried to write down as much as I could to encompass the new features within this hack.
- There's a lot of minor stuff that was done that isn't going to be mentioned here.
- I would recommend skimming through at least once, as well as the HMs and the Wild data pages..
- 1. Opening Sequence:
- - New intro sequence, animation, and music
- New Game:

- 2. Open world:
- - Forced story elements/barriers have been removed
- - Certain areas have been reworked to be more navigable earlier
- * See: Map changes and additions
- - Many cut trees have been removed
- - Strength boulders are only in the Seafoam Islands and Slowpoke Well, which are optional
- * This means places like Ice Path can be navigated without Strength
- - A fast ferry service has been added for quick traveling
- * Can travel between Olivine, Cianwood, Cerulean, and New Cinnabar + Fuchsia
- * Can be ridden for free after 2 badges
- - Fishing Gurus now give you the different fishing rods in sequence
- * If you have the Old Rod, the next Guru you meet will give you the Good Rod, etc.
- - Lots of misc tweaks to help the experience be more open
- 3. Scaling Gyms, Trainers, and Gym Rechallenges:
- Scaling Gyms:
- - All 16 Gyms can be faced in any order and have scaled teams based on amount of earned badges
- * This goes from around ~Lv. 7 to ~Lv. 75, making the latter 8 Gyms more challenging than the original games
- * Gym Leaders have fully custom movesets
- * There are no sidequests to enable Gyms or leaders (Amphy is ok, Blue is not traveling, etc.)
- Trainers:
- - Trainers outside of Gyms scale up to ~Lv45
- * This is to keep world navigation at a minimum hassle
- - Certain event-based trainers do not directly scale (Eusine, Sprout Tower, Elite Four, etc.)
- - Some new special trainers reset once per day, or after beating the E4.
- Gym Rechallenges:
- - Unlocked at Gyms that you've defeated once
- - Rechallenge a Gym by talking to the statues at the door
- - All Gym Leaders and trainers are rebattleable
- - Levels are unlocked and correspond to badge count
- 4. New Features and Quality-of-life changes:
- New Features:
- - Running shoes added, can be turned on permanently in options menu

- - Johto and Kanto Game Corners have different prizes
- - Total amount of prizes have been increased

- - The new Event Tutor will try to teach any moves given out exclusively at events
- * This has also reflected on learnable TMs, any event moves that are also TMs can now be taught directly.
- - A Move Reminder NPC has been added in the Move Deleter's house in Blackthorn City
- - The Move Tutor now takes cash and is available from the start in front of both Game Corners

- - Overworld poison fades away at 1HP
- - Daycare man appears outside of the fence
- * Goldenrod NPCs have also been moved out of the main street
- - Odd Egg is now a perfect shiny or has decent DVs, instead of the original flat 0's
- * Probability has been reworked so Magby and Elekid are more likely than Cleffa and IgglyBuff
- - Traded obedience was rescaled to be 10x the current badge count
- * 2 badges is up to Lv 20, 3 badges is up to Lv 30 etc.
- * With the exception of 1 badge, which is up to Lv 15.

- [faq.txt]
- Read the documentation page first!
- - How are trade evolutions handled?
- * On the ground floor of each Department Store (Celadon/Goldenrod) is the Tradeback Guy.
- * Requirements are unchanged from the original game.
- - Are there any new species or moves?
- * No. Species and moves are unchanged from Gen 2.
- - What about the Physical/Special split?
- * Also no. Anything that would break compatibility with other Gen 2 games is intentionally not added.
- - Where can I get/catch X?
- * See the Wild Data page.
- * See the Legendaries and Stationaries page.
- * See the HMs page.
- * Check the item list.
- - I can FLY anywhere! Is this a bug?
- * This is by design. Only a few places are not available by default.
- - I went to X area and the levels are too high/low!
- * Wild data does not scale. This is intentional.
- - Move Reminder?
- * Johto - In the Move Deleter's house in Blackthorn City
- - Do the E4 scale with badges? Do they get a buff when you get all 16 badges?
- * No! They do get a buff after getting beat. They only have two sets just like in Vanilla Crystal.
- - Can this rom be randomized?
- * No, this isn't compatible with randomizers and there are no plans for making it so.
- [hms.txt]
- HM changes:
- - HM moves no longer require badges to be used outside of battle
- - HMs are available in both regions, with the exception of Whirlpool and Waterfall
- - NPCs will give you the HMs if you have enough badges
- - Badge requirements are different per region to encourage traveling between the two
- - Since most blocking cut trees have been removed, cut is only used for shortcuts and secrets
- - Fly can be used to fly between the two regions directly (press left/right on the fly map)
- - Having visited an area is no longer a requirement to fly to it
- * Indigo Plateau and New Cinnabar Island however must be visited at least once.
- Locations:
- Cut:
- - Johto: Charcoal Kiln (2 badges)
- - Kanto: Route 2 Gate (2 badges)

- [pigyournament.txt]
- CLICK THAT PIGThe event has ended. Thank you to all who participated.
- Feel free to check out the full recording below.
- The entry information is archived below.
- Preface:
- Please read the following documentation before entering the contest.
- Entry instructions are below.
- There is a limit of 8 participants.
- The first 8 submissions of legal teams, qualifying as detailed below, will be accepted. If any accepted participants fail or do not perform a connection test by the date listed under [Schedule], the next acceptable submission will take their place in the bracket.
- If declined, you may resubmit, with your new submission now prioritized below any other submissions before you.
- Team Format:
- Each Trainer will bring a party of 6 entrants into the event. During the preparation phase before battle, the species, nickname, gender, level, and held item of all entrants will be visible on-screen.
- If any nicknames are deemed offensive, insensitive, or in any way inappropriate, they will be temporarily changed for the duration of the event. This will not affect your save file.
- Both Trainers will select 3 out of their 6 entrants to use in each battle. By default, this selection, as well as the order selected, is not public knowledge to their opponent.
- WARNING: If you press/hold the R button while selecting your team of 3, the names of any currently selected entrants on your team will be highlighted on-screen for both players to see. Use of this feature is at your own discretion, but not advised for players who wish to keep their choices a mystery. At any time during selection, you may press L to deselect and start over.
- Level Limit:
- All entrants on the submitted save file will be have their levels dropped to Lv50 for the event.
- If any of your entrants are below Lv50 they will NOT be raised to Lv50, and will instead stay at whatever level they were submitted at.
- Ban list:
- - Snorlax
- - Blissey
- * This does not include Chansey
- - All Legendaries
- * Articuno
- * Zapdos
- * Moltres

- Stadium 2's Battle Rules:
- - Battles will be held in an emulated version of Stadium 2 with netplay support via the internet.
- - Trainers may not switch for free when their opponent's current battler is knocked out. (This is the SET option in CC, rather than SHIFT.)
- - Sleep Clause: Only 1 party member on a team may be Asleep at a time.
- - Freeze Clause: Only 1 party member on a team may be Frozen at a time.
- - Species Clause: No duplicate species on a team.
- - Item Clause: No duplicate Held Items on a team.
- - Self-KO Clause: If both Trainer's final party member are knocked out at the same time, the party member causing the damage is the loser.
- - Each battle is held under a 10 minute timer. If a winner has not been decided after 10 minutes, the Trainer with the most party members remaining wins. If it's a tie, remaining party members' remaining HP percentages will be compared.
- Event Progression:
- The required software will be available for download at Tournaments as of the posting of this announcement. Participants are required to download it in advance, don't wait for the event date. Connection tests will be required of participants before the event date. (Info below under Schedule)
- The default controls are illustrated at Tournaments: How to Play. Do NOT adjust your settings. Any issues during the event caused by customization or modification of settings will be the user's responsibility and may result in penalties for delaying or disrupting the event proceedings.
- Questions about how to play with the software that don't have to do with the event won't be answered. Google will be able to answer them for you, and if using the software in advance you may need to redownload the unmodified version from the site again before the event. It is crucial that all participants have an identical copy, down to almost all settings beyond control configuration.
- On the day of the event, a Stadium 2 save file will be sent to participants via Discord DM from @Robert Mato, shortly before their turn to compete. Instructions on how to properly install this save file are listed in full at Tournaments: How to Play. This save file is extremely important as it hosts the team you submitted, and is used to keep all participants' games in sync.
- Matches will be held in a best-of-3 format, single elimination. Each matchup will participate in up to 3 battles, where the first player to win 2 battles wins the match and moves on, while the loser is eliminated from the event. There will be 3 rounds of matches to determine a champion.
- Schedule:
- - Registration closes Thursday, July 18th @ midnight EDT.
- - Connection tests will be planned in #tournament-lounge
- - Tournament held on Saturday, July 21st @ 7:30pm-10:00pm EDT
- Spectators:
- The event will be livestreamed with commentators at twitch.tv/shockslayer.
- For people who won't be able to make the live event, it will also be uploaded in an edited format to youtube.com/shockslayer.
- How to Enter:
- Enter your team by submitting a compliant save file by DMing @Robert Mato in the CC discord
- Please see the [Level Limit], [Ban list], and [Stadium 2's Battle Rules] sections for information on legality.
- You must have your 6 chosen entrants in your in-game party, not in the PC or daycare.
- All entrants will have their data fully inspected to ensure fair play and tournament legality.
- If you need help please feel free to ask publicly in the #tournaments channel.
- Prizes:
- The tournament champion will receive the grand prize: the opportunity to craft their own custom starter/gift to be added into Crystal Clear.
- All participants will receive a code to redeem in-game for the following special gift. This code may be used on a new game to receive the gift as your starter, or redeemed at the Mahogany Bazaar on an existing save to pick it up.
- [speedrunning.txt]
- This is mostly meant as a record of runs made in Crystal Clear. Definitions for categories are here, if you are looking for a reference, too. There is a lot of information to help with routing in the docs. You may also discussing routing, other faster tricks, or an idea for another category in #speedrunning on the discord.
- any%
- This Category is about like any other any%, just get from start to finish (beating the E4) faster than anyone else.
- Silver%
- Beat the Mt. Silver battle and get all 16 badges.
- starter%
- Same criteria as Silver%, but with just your starter. Any other pokemon are used as HM slaves.
- Run Submissions
- Runs address to be done in video format. This is to verify validity and honest play, the game screen and a timer should both be in the video. Video submissions should be sent to nephitejnf to be verified and then they'll be posted on the site. Video submissions should prefferably be done with Youtube videos for ease of embeding.
- Submissions will be separated by versions. Submissions for the current version are cut off after a new version is pushed out.

- Table of Contents:
- 1. How to Connect
- 2. Keyboard Controls (Default)
- 3. Initial Set-Up
- 4. Pre-Battle
- 5. Battle Controls
- 6. Post-Battle
- 1. How to Connect
- Preface: Do NOT attempt to join until told to do so by @Robert Mato in the CC Discord #tournament-lounge channel. (Be sure to keep notifications on and/or the app open as it will be used to communicate if there are any issues.)
- @Robert Mato will be hosting the game server for this event.
- Step 1: Download POKEMON STADIUM 2.fla, which will be sent via DM to you from @Robert Mato just before your turn to connect and battle. Place it in the Save folder inside the PIGY July 18 [Emulator] folder. This is very important, and the multiplayer will not work properly without it.
- Step 2: Drag and drop Pokemon Stadium 2.z64 onto Project 64.exe.
- Step 3: In the text box at the bottom of the console window (AQZ NetPlay v40), type the command sent to you by @Robert Mato in #tournament-lounge to join.
- Step 4: Once both players have joined the server, the host will start the game. Player 1 must move on to section 3. Initial Set-Up.
- 2. Keyboard Controls (Default)
- Format: N64 Button = Keyboard Key
- A = L key
- B = K key
- Up = Up Arrow
- Left = Left Arrow
- Down = Down Arrow
- Right = Right Arrow
- C Up = W key
- C Left = A key
- C Down = S key
- C Right = D key
- L = I key
- R = O key
- Start = H key
- 3. Initial Set-Up
- Player 1 has control of the menus, so it's up to them to begin the battle and set it up properly. Follow these simple steps below to do so.
- If the battle is not set up according to these instructions, it will be invalid and the host will restart the game.
- Step 1: Press Start to skip the intro, then Start again at the title screen.
- Step 2: Press A as long as there are two controllers shown on screen.
- Step 3: Select the White City from the menu. It should be the default selection.
- Step 4: Select Free Battle in the upper right corner of the map.
- Step 5: Select P1 VS P2.
- Step 6: Select the Prime Cup ruleset.
- Step 7: Select whichever stadium you wish to battle in. This is purely aesthetic, so lucky Player 1 gets to decide.
- 4. Pre-Battle
- Step 1: Player 1 selects Registered, then selects their submitted party from the list. Do NOT select someone else's team.
- Step 2: Player 2 selects Registered, then selects their submitted party from the list. Do NOT select someone else's team.
- Step 3: A cinematic will play, then both players select their team of 3 from their party of 6 to take into the first battle.
- Step 4: Press the buttons shown next to your party members to add them to your team. Press L to restart your selection if you want to change it. Don't press R or it will highlight the members you've selected and your opponent can see that.
- Step 5: Once you've selected 3 party members to take into the battle, the game will ask "Is this OK?". Select Yes to begin, or Re-select to pick again. Once you select Yes, you can't go back.
- Step 6: Once both players have selected their team and confirmed it, the battle will begin.
- 5. Battle Controls
- Press A to select a move to attack with, then press the corresponding C-button according to your Battle Card. (If for some reason you don't have your Battle Card, contact @Robert Mato either in #tournament-lounge or via DM.)
- Press B to switch party members, then press the corresponding button according to your Battle Card for the member you wish to send out.
- After pressing either A or B, press L to cancel if you wish to select the other option.
- After pressing either A or B, press R to check your options. WARNING: This will also show your moves or team members to your opponent as well, so it's recommended to simply consult your Battle Card instead.
- Press Start to concede the battle. This does not concede the entire best 2-out-of-3 match, just the single battle you're in.
- 6. Post-Battle
- After a battle is over the game will declare the winner, then move to a screen to select what to do next. This is under Player 1's control.
- If it's the end of the first battle, select Try Again to return to the team selection screen.
- If either player has won 2 battles, select Cancel, and the host will end the game. The winner will move on to battle in the next bracket, and the loser is eliminated from the tournament.
- [updating.txt]
- Updating is fairly simple, but there are a few precautions you may want to take to protect your save file.
- Transferring your GBC save to 3DS
- Updating normally
- 1. Save in the Olivine Center
- 2. Replace the old .gbc file with the new one.
- You're done.
- Updating on 3DS
- 1. Back up your 3DS save data before installing the new .cia
- - Installing it over the old version will wipe the save data clean.
- - Updating from V1.0 to anything past V1.1 will change the TitleID
- * This means save data will need to be restored manually.
- - JKSM is recommended, but others will probably work fine too.
- 2. Don't delete your old .cia before updating
- - You may need it to fix your save file!
- - Many things can change or be relocated in an update; this can
- make warps/doors unusable and you can get permanently locked in a glitch room
- 3. The safest location to save at is the first floor of the Olivine Center
- - This is the first map in the list
- - The mapscript will likely never change
- - Lots of notation has been added around it in code to keep it from changing
- [wild_data.txt]
- Soon this page will be replaced by a direct link to a Google sheet with full tables, for easy searching.
- Johto is mostly the same, but a few species have been tucked away in certain places to offer a bit more variety.
- Kanto has some level reworks and a decent chunk of new/restored areas, which have new wild data.
- You may also be looking for: Legendaries and Stationaries
- A few things to note:
- - No required levels or evolution requirements have changed.
- - A Tradeback NPC has been added to help with trade based evolutions
- * Can be found on the first floor of Goldenrod/Celadon Department Stores
- - In each Dept. Store there's a floor that sells evolution items (stones/held items)
- Full data will be available in the future, but here are some notable changes:
- Johto changes:
- - Bulbasaur can be found in Ilex Forest
