Skeleton

The history of Ikana fills several volumes in Hyrule’s royal libraries. It is a nation with a troubled past, dark secrets and a tragic history. It is the nation that Imago du Ikana comes from.

Imago was one of the few generations born in Ikana before its fall to dark forces. In the far past, Ikana was settled by the same early peoples that most human nations – Hylians and Gerudo in particular – originate from. However, Ikana lacked the mild climate of Hyrule and the sheltering geography of the Gerudo people. Confined to a canyon with little in the way of farmable land and dependant on the flow of the river Keko, life was harsh here. Imago grew up amongst a people that were grim and bitter, and had turned to the Raven Queen and other “minor” deities that provided power and limited unlife.

Imago joined the military in service of King Igos Du Ikana, and rose through the ranks to soon become a palace guardsman. As part of his service, he was taught many magic skills and fighting skills that were useful in repelling monsters and those whom had tragically been resurrected without the Raven Queen’s blessing.

It is not known where his slayers come from. Some blame the Garo peoples that lived in the mountain caves. Others claim a cult – perhaps of the King That Crawls, or the Cult of Majora – unleashed demons to assault the palace. Imago himself remembers being felled by “the Great Enemy,” but Ikana’s trademark hatred and paranoia of goddess-worshipping races, along with the various battles against the forces of evil at the time, makes that category too broad to find a culprit. What is known is that he fell fighting to defend his king.

Imago was resurrected by the Raven Queen to a new world, a dead king and a new purpose – accompany the Heroes of the Storm in their quest to defeat Onox. Not much of his old personality remains. He is devoted to completing his quest, patriotic to a fault and refuses to retreat if he feels victory can still be grasped. Being on good terms with him earns you a stalwart ally and defender. He also has a slightly dry sense of humor, although this is a fairly rare occurrence and consists mostly of skeleton puns.

Sadly, Imago is not without fault. His devotion to Ikana and its gods means he dislikes followers of the Goddesses, and considers them deluded at best. He doesn’t get on well with time-wasters or inefficient people, and despises cowards. He is also blind to the folly of his own people. Although Imago works with the Heroes of the Storm, he does not currently consider them friends. His foes are the traditional enemies of Ikana – undead raised by evil forces, the cults of Majora and other dangerous demons, and, thankfully, Onox and his armies.

The Ikanian has two current goals – aid the Heroes in their struggle against evil, and ensure the glory of his people at any cost. With his King’s soul in limbo, he has vowed to destroy the King Who Crawls, Torag the god of the Underdark – a task he knows he will accomplish
