  1. “Day and night, man,” Robin said through his mouth full of bread. “You weren’t actually exercising out there, were you?”
  2.
  3. “I was,” said Mac. “I don’t mind it so much.”
  4.
  5. Robin looked at Mac.
  6.
  7. Bowser turned and looked at Mac.
  8.
  9. Sheik and Samus looked up from their game at Mac.
  10.
  11. He had a moment to look confused, and concerned, before Sheik’s dagger slammed hilt-deep into his forehead.
  12.
  13. ---
  14.
  15. Robin scrambled over Mac’s fallen body.
  16.
  17. “I- Wha- You-” Robin struggled to find words because he struggled to find emotions because he struggled to understand what even was happening before him.
  18.
  19. Black blood oozed from the wound on Mac’s forehead. The dagger still stuck from him like a sheathed sword. His eyes went blank.
  20.
  21. “I will spare no excuses for you,” said Sheik, as cool and confident as ever.
  22.
  23. “What the-” Tana started. “What the fuck? The fuck did you just do?”
  24.
  25. Robin’s mind was racing, so many thoughts filled his head that they clogged up the whole system and Robin was left sputtering, lost, confused, staring down at Mac’s limp body and trying to work out just what he was seeing.
  26.
  27. His eyes didn’t just go white, within the moment they disappeared. Followed by his nose, mouth, hair, cheek line, until Robin was looking at a blank mannequin of a person. Then, he exploded into black smoke and vanished.
  28.
  29. Slowly, slyly, Sheik crossed the room and retrieved her dagger. Knelt down, she looked Robin dead in the eye.
  30.
  31. “I should hope by now you understand what we’re dealing with,” she said.
