  1. 1. Plug a single computer directly into the router.
  2. 2. Open up the DOS command prompt only (Start -> Run -> "cmd", for Windows XP/2000.) 3. Type "ftp usage.request.com.au" at the prompt

  5. ~ Password = testspeed

  7. 4. At the ftp prompt type "bin"
  8. 5. At the ftp prompt type "get 50mb-filetest.bin" which will start downloading a 50MB file. Copy the speed from the results line.
  9. 6. It is also possible to test upload:

  12. ~ Password = testspeed

  14. 7. And use command 'put <file-name>.bin'. Copy the speed from the results line.
  15. 8. To end type "quit" at the ftp prompt.
