Have you ever moderated a chatroom before? If yes please describe your experience and role within the chat.

I have experience working as a community moderator for a fan game over the span of 4 years and continuing.  Along with the community forum we have to moderate, we also once had a chatroom that we watched over on constant exchanging shift basis.  Our warning system normally went as a 1. warning 2. kick 3.ban sort of deal.  We had disciplinary logs that I primarily organized to try and make keeping tabs on people easy for the team (the google drive table I used admittedly wasn't the most pleasing to look at but it saved a lot of headache for the team).  I understand that The Haven's enforcement system could be different and I would be more than happy to accommodate to the change in rules.

Have you ever volunteered for a mental health nonprofit? If yes please describe your experience and role.

I have not been involved with any mental health nonprofit.  However from my own experiences as a sort of mediator at a young age (ex: Middle School).  I was already put in a situation where I've had to stop a friend from committing suicide for several months.  The process was rather painful but I've learned a lot and from that experience. I have also stumbled across others, mostly online friends, troubles and sorta been there for them as any friend should be over the years.

Are you familiar with the platform called Discord? If yes explain the level of your experience.
I am very familiar with Discord.  I have been using it since 2015 and always kept myself up-to-date on things and receive the hypesquad newsletters.  I use both the PC and Mobile application for Discord.

Are you currently employed or in school or both? If yes please describe.
I am currently employed as part time for Starbucks.  I will also be attending college in the Fall semester as an undergraduate.

How many hours could you devote to moderating per week? Maximum is 60, minimum is 20.
Not sure if I could be online for a chunk at a time but I would definitely be available at nearly all times when I'm awake.  Again, I am very familiar and active on discord on a daily basis.
If need be I would not mind sharing my work schedule if necessary and make accommodations in my schedule if I see fit.
Why are you a good candidate for this position? Please include specific skill sets.
I have always enjoyed being someone who can talk seriously with another about things.  I have been exposed to a lot of scenarios where it would require my immediate attention and ability to connect with another person, mostly by online means.  I have admittedly gotten into some drama in the past but I have since learned from my experience and am constantly trying to self improve myself.

As well as this, I have a lot of interest as well pertaining to the subject of mental illnesses.  I rather enjoy learning more about it and would consider it one of my passions to understand and continuously gain knowledge about.

I also feel that being able to work closely with people would better my ability to speak verbally with others.  I have often felt awkward or under-prepared when speaking and would enjoy just understanding people on a more serious level so I can work on my communication skills further when such times require it.

Overall, I'm rather passionate about The Haven because of my own disorder and my interest to connect with other people also dealing with disorders and would want to have an active role in helping out anyone in need.
Is there anything else you feel we should know about you?
I work well with others in a team setting and always seem to make friends easily.  I also always enjoy learning about things and would not mind at all if i need to be taught certain things to help The Haven community more.
 Haha, I also like cats and enjoy writing and drawing.  Hopefully I can get into vet tech for my career and be able to soon have my foot in the door for the medical field.

Not so much as a question, but as a request I would very much appreciate any feedback on my application and just personality that you've seen me around in the discord. Describe your leadership style
Connection and friendly mostly however, serious if I need to be and straight to the point if it's a very serious matter.  However I want to be seen as a friend to everyone and only really resorting to a serious manner if something like insubordination were to occur.

What does supporting others mean to you?
It means that I can be someone that others can rely on in times of need.  I would feel overwhelmed with joy to even have someone trust me enough to allow me to listen to their problems.  Being able to help someone get out of a bad spot in their head would be beyond gratifying and I would be extremely honored by them.  It means that I can be a good person to have people listen to,  I can be someone who can also handle situations that would be linked to crisis.
How would you describe your way of supporting?
I try to stick to the LQV standards, however my own experience may speak up and my natural lets-try-to-solve-it attitude may come through.  I'm not pushy though and normally I can sense the wavelength of which someone is trying to express through emotions in their words and would thus do my best to mold to their tone.  If need be I will do research on their situation if I am having trouble connecting to them and understanding.  Compliments and positive reinforcements are very important though and I recognize that validating someone is oftentimes best enforced through you saying you're on the person's side.  That way they don't feel alone with thoughts and can relax further.
What qualities do you think are most important in a peer support session?
The ability to listen without distractions and overall giving them your full attention.  You don't necessarily need to know the ins and outs of their problems.  But being able to just somehow connect yourself as a supporter to the person and being able to relate would be very powerful in a session.


How would you handle a crisis situation? (suicidal/homicidal intent)
Using the three questions I have learned of recently.  Why do you want to kill yourself, How would you kill yourself, and finally When would you do it.  Being able to listen to their story with minimal interruptions would be the best way.  Trying to guide them away from their harms and stressors.  If need be I will use the @team command for back-up or the .crisis command.
