  1. Welcome to this week's ASCII art competition results! We have some great contenders, including a surprisingly good rendition of a cat and a freeze frame of an explosion.
  2. As always, all submissions are confirmed to be human made. No ASCII generators allowed!
  3. Let's get right to it with 5th place: |
  4.
  5.
  6. I can only imagine the confusion this person felt when they put the DVD into their computer and all they got was this. That's so unexpected, it had to be human made.
  7. I like how they titled this as E:D-1. Also, judging by the exclamation point it looks like this person is losing their s#it.
  8.
  9.
  10. 4th place is:
  11.
  12.
  13. That little round character represents absolutely nothing I can think of. I love it.
  14.
  15.
  16. 3rd place goes to:
  17.
  18.
  19. If you squint, this does kind of look like Link. The off centered head, unibrow, and the shield are a nice touch. Also, please appreciate the OCD-level spacing throughout the entirety of the text.
  20.
  21.
  22. And now for second place:
  23.
  24.
  25. We have a shirtless man with a remarkable bottom holding what I can only assume to be a thong. What I love the most is the second line of the text, "I am shy, so he is holding it for me." I'm glad you're finally comfortable with your bottom man.
  26.
  27.
  28. And finally, we have our winner, the immortal Jeff's ASCII-based likeness:
  29.
  30.
  31. Just the other day I was walking through my house singing, "Jeffffffffffffffffff is my fiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnndddddddddd…"
  32.
  33. Thanks for the amazing submissions and keep an eye out for next week!

  53. I could stare at this all day. Also, for the uninitiated, what I just did there was make an X-Wing out of asterisks.
  54.
  55. 3rd place:
  56.
  57.
  58. Yup, that's a block of ice. Nothing is going to survive that frozen death.
  59.

  62.
  63. For a bit of the extra details, this one wins the fun facts:
  64.
  65. I don't know what OS that is, but I love it. All of the systems represented here are dead or will die soon. That's not true for the Mac, but it's close.
  66.
  67. For a bit of backstory, here is the runner-up:
  68.
  69. This was submitted by a high school student from KSA. It is an impressive effort for a high school student to try their hand at the coveted ASCII-art prize. He did a fantastic job at recreating the letter from the original post, but unfortunately he forgot the apostrophe. A really good effort by a student from KSA, good luck at your future endeavors!
  70.
  71.
  72. Finally, the winner:
  73.
  74.
  75. Your browser does not support HTML5 video tag.

  84. Kitty!
  85. This entry is a bit of a hidden gem. I missed it the first time around, but thanks to you guys I rediscovered it!
  86.
  87. A lot of care has been put into this one, with the shading and details. Looks like a legitimate drawing, doesn't it?
  88.
  89. 2nd place is:
  90.
  91.
  92. There is a lot to love here, but the biggest reason this made it to 2nd place is the impeccable timing. All the pixels line up perfectly so that the explosion fits within the box. Like a small explosion contained within a larger explosion, like the flower petals on the ground.
  93.
  94. First place is:
  95.
  96. There it is.
  97.
  98. T his ASCII of a crying face is striking in its realism. You can almost hear the sadness in the artist's voice.

  101.
