NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST YOU SHALL PROSPER (Part 1)



Today our Scripture reading will be taken from the Book of Isaiah where God says:



“No WEAPON formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the SERVANTS OF THE LORD and their RIGHTEOUSNESS is from ME,” says the LORD” (Isaiah 54:17).



In our recent study about “THE WEAPONS OF OUR WARFARE (Part 4 & 5),” we were able to study in detail “the whole ARMOR of God” which are all based on the Word of God and the SALVATION work of JESUS CHRIST.



Before we look at our Scripture reading for today, one important thing I want to stress on is that fact that “the whole ARMOR of God” can NEVER be obtained through PRAYERS. Because many Christians have not yet been SAVED from their SINS due to their lack of knowledge and faith in the SALVATION of JESUS CHRIST, they make a mistake by thinking that they can PRAY to God for Him to put on them “the whole ARMOR of God.” But it doesn’t work that way.



For example, if a Christian prays and say, “God give me the SWORD of the SPIRIT,” it is a WRONG PRAYER which will NEVER be ANSWERED. This is because the “SWORD” is the “Word of God” which is already given to us. Also if someone prays, “Lord put on my head HELMET of SALVATION,” it is also a WRONG PRAYER because none of “ARMORS of God” can be obtained this way.



When God through Paul was teaching the Ephesians about “the whole ARMOR of God.” He did not say, “Pray to God to give you the whole ARMOR of God.” Is that what he said? Not at all! But rather he said, “Put on the whole ARMOR of God.” This shows that the ARMORS have already been provided to those who BELIEVE in THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD, and they put them on by FAITH.



The BELT for our waist  is based on the TRUTH in CHRIST, the BREASBPLATE for our chest is based on God’s RIGHTEOUSNESS fulfilled by the JESUS BAPTISM, the  FOOTWEAR for our feet is based on our preparedness to share the true gospel with others, the SHIELD is based on our FAITH, the HELMET for our head is based on our SALVATION, and our PRAYER as a WEAPON is based on our RIGHT-STANDING before God as His children which enable us to communicate with Him as our Father.



Therefore when God says to you that, “No WEAPON formed against you shall prosper,” it is because you have already put on “the whole ARMOR of God” according to His principles of SALVATION. Many Christians are very familiar with this passage in Isaiah, and they are fond of saying, “No WEAPON formed against me shall prosper.” Meanwhile they claim this promise without BELIEVING in the RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD.



God gave the reason why He says that “No WEAPON formed against you shall prosper.” And He said it is because “their RIGHTEOUSNESS is from ME,” says the LORD.” Therefore if somebody does not BELIEVE that JESUS fulfilled “all RIGHTEOUSNESS” in His BAPTISM as recorded in the Bible in Matthew 3:15, then the promise in Isaiah 54:17 is not for him.



How can a Christian say “I BELIEVE in what GOD says in Isaiah 54:17, but I don’t BELIEVE in what JESUS says in Matthew 3:15.” Any Christian who is like that is a FALSE BELIEVER. Such a Christian cannot enter the Kingdom of God. This is because JESUS tells us, “For I say to you, that UNLESS your RIGHTEOUSNESS exceeds the RIGHTEOUSNESS of the Scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the Kingdom of God” (Matthew 5:20).



Dear reader, if the Pharisees who were born in the Law and brought up in the Law to the extent that they were so SELF-RIGHTEOUS to bring a woman of adultery in front of JESUS, and yet upon all this JESUS says that their RIGHTEOUSNESS is not enough for them to enter the Kingdom of God, then it is confirming what God says in Isaiah that “all our RIGHTEOUSNESS are like filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6).



The LORD told us, “UNLESS your RIGHTEOUSNESS exceeds the RIGHTEOUSNESS of the Scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the Kingdom of God.” So my beloved Brothers and Sisters, what is the “RIGHTEOUSNESS” which exceeds that of the Scribes and Pharisees? It is none other than THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD fulfilled by JESUS CHRIST in His BAPTISM at the Jordan River (Matthew 3:13-17).



So my dearly beloved Brothers and Sisters, and Readers of this pure article, if God says that “No WEAPON formed against you shall prosper,” it is because He Himself has already ARMED you with all the WEAPONS for our SPIRITUAL WARFARE, and it’s because He said that your “RIGHTEOUSNESS” is from Him.



We just have to PRAISE God for His “RIGHTEOUSNESS.”

We are continuing our final study of Isaiah 54:17. So let’sl take the verse again. It says:



“No WEAPON formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the SERVANTS OF THE LORD and their RIGHTEOUSNESS is from ME,” says the LORD.”



In the Part 1 of this topic, we learnt that first of all, the reason why any “WEAPON” that is formed against us shall not prosper is because God has ARMED us with His whole ARMOR. And secondly, we learnt that it is because God said our “RIGHTEOUSNESS” is from Him.



This “RIGHTEOUSNESS” which God spoke of in Isaiah is what gives SINFUL human beings LIFE. The Scriptures tells us that, “For the wages of SIN is DEATH, but the GIFT of God is ETERNAL LIFE in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23). So what is the “GIFT of God” in this passage which gives us “ETERNAL LIFE?”



This “GIFT” is described as, “...much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the GIFT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS will reign in LIFE through the One, Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:17). This shows that when the Scripture says, “but the GIFT of God is ETERNAL LIFE,” it means it is the “GIFT OF RIGHTEOUSNES” which gives us “ETERNAL LIFE.” And this “GIFT” is what God tells us in Isaiah that we got it from Him.



In the same book of Isaiah, God told us to do something which we must do it right now. So let’s see what God is telling us to do. He said, “SEARCH from the BOOK of the LORD, and READ; Not one of these shall fail; Not one shall lack her MATE. For My mouth has commanded it, and His Spirit has gathered them” (Isaiah 34:16). When God says “the BOOK of the LORD” He is referring to the Written Word, and we know that the Word is JESUS CHRIST.



When God says that nothing in His Word “shall fail,” it means whatever He has spoken will surely be fulfilled. He also said we should “SEARCH” from His Word and “READ” it, and we shall see that “Not one shall lack her MATE”  because His  “mouth has commanded it, and His Spirit has gathered them.” So we need to “SEARCH” and find the “MATE” of what God is telling us in Isaiah 54:17 about His “RIGHTEOUSNES” which we got from Him.



OK Brothers and Sisters, so what is the “MATE” of the “RIGHTEOUSNESS” which  God mentions in Isaiah 54:17? This is something that God wants us to know. He said we should “SEARCH” from His “BOOK” and “READ” it ourselves, and we shall see that His Word which we read in Isaiah actually has a “MATE.”



Now let’s begin our “SEARCH” to find the “MATE” of Isaiah 54:17. We all know that it is the New Testament which fulfills the Old. So let’s begin our search from the Gospel of Matthew which is the first book of the New Testament. So we have arrived at Matthew 3:15 where JESUS told John the Baptist, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill ALL RIGHTEOUSNESS.”



Dearly beloved, God told us in Isaiah that it is “His Spirit” who has “gathered” the Scriptures from Genesis to Revelation. And whiles we were doing our “SEARCH,” the “Spirit” of God who is our Teacher (John 14:26), showed us that the “RIGHTEOUSNESS” which God mentioned Isaiah 54:17 and the “RIGHTEOUSNESS” which JESUS mentioned in Matthew 3:15 are “MATES,” and they cannot be SEPARATED.

JESUS Himself is the Word, and He said that, “Therefore what God has joined together, let no one SEPARATE” (Mark 10:9). Therefore God’s “RIGHTEOUSNESS” being spoken in Isaiah 54:17 is what JESUS fulfilled for us in Matthew 3:15. Nobody should attempt to “SEPERATE” these two “MATES” which “God has joined together.” Anybody who does so will suffer a disastrous and a catastrophic judgment from God.



God’s Word is Holy, and so when He says that His Words has its “MATE,” then we must know that the “MATES” of His Word do not separate like the way human Husbands and Wives separate when there is misunderstanding and conflict of interest. As for God’s Words, they understand themselves. That’s why Isaiah 54:17 understands Matthew 3:15. These two “MATES” are INSEPARABLE (cannot be separated).



Christians who replace “GOD’S RIGHTEOUSNESS” mentioned in Isaiah 54:17, Matthew 3:15, and Matthew 5:20 with  HUMAN RIGHTEOUSNESS are in danger of facing severe consequence in hell-fire. If somebody attempt to replace “GOD’S RIGHTEOUSNESS” with HUMAN RIGHTEOUSNESS, it is like putting square pegs in round holes which will never work.



In the same way, our entrance into the Kingdom of God will never work unless we BELIEVE in His RIGHTEOUSNESS alone which JESUS fulfilled in His WATER BAPTISM before shedding His BLOOD on the Cross to pay for the judgment of the SINS which we commit throughout our entire lifespan.



It is written that “In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with GOD, and the WORD was GOD” (John 1:1). Therefore the WORD in Isaiah 54:17 is the Word of JESUS CHRIST because He is the “WORD.” And He is the one who told John the Baptist in Matthew 3:15 that His BAPTISM fulfils “all RIGHTEOUSNESS.”



Therefore when JESUS says that, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for RIGHTEOUSNESS, for they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6), it means that His WATER BAPTISM which fulfilled “all righteousness” will quench the hunger and thirst of those who BELIEVE in His WATER, and they shall be “filled” with His “RIGHTEOUSNESS” which God spoke about in Isaiah 54:17.



Sometimes I wonder why some Christians allows the Devil to deceived them to take the words of JESUS in Matthew 3:15 for granted. My beloved, JESUS is GOD ooo!!! So don’t take His words for granted. The secret to SALVATION is based on your understanding of what JESUS says in Matthew 3:15. But if you fail to understand what JESUS says in Matthew 3:15, then you cannot also understand Isaiah 54:17.



Many Christians are only interested in Isaiah 54:17, but they are not interested in what JESUS says in Matthew 3:15. They will always say, “No WEAPON formed against me shall prosper,” but they don’t read further to see the reason why God is saying “No WEAPON formed against” them shall not “prosper.”



Satan is very smart, and he makes blind believers remove the wealthier matters of God’s Word, and he makes people BELIEVE in the Word of God any way they like. That’s why Christianity has been reduced to divisions of doctrines, and it is the handiwork of that Serpent of Old who deceives the whole world.

If you believe wholeheartedly in the BAPTISM, the BLOOD, and the RESURRECTION of CHRIST, you will understand what JESUS means when He says, “Therefore if the Son makes you FREE, you shall be FREE indeed” (John 8:36).
