  1. A bit of advice on my link building idea please.
  2. Yesterday when I was researching expired domains with Ahref, I think I stumbled upon a link building idea, but I am not 100% sure. I was hoping the BHW folk would be able to tell me if this has legs.

  14. Assume I have a pets website mypetswebsite.com
  15. I find a bunch of expired domains that previously mainly comprised of lists of results from dog shows. The results for these dog shows generated backlinks from all kinds of legitimate places. As checked with Ahrefs.
  16. So if I decided to buy dogshowresults.com, I then thought of three possible options.
  17. 1. Re-create the results on mypetwebsite.com and redirect the pages from dogshowresults.com directly. I assume this is asking for a penalty from Google?
  18. 2. Start a new site dogshowresultsarchive.com and list results from a array of similar expired domains. Re-direct the expired domains to there and then have links to mypetwebsite.com
  19. 3. Restore the expired domains dogshowresults.com individually and then have links to mypetwebsite.com.
  20. Or forget it as it is a terrible idea?
  21. Any advice would be great!

  28. Click to expand...1. no reason why you would get a penalty. Could be the original owner recreating the site again.
  29. 2. you could do that, but then you would need to link build to that new domain
  30. 3. Yep, good idea, do that

  35. It’s fine if you recreate a site and use it or simply redirect it but note 301 looses link juice so think twice before you do it
  36. ?
  37.
  38. It sounds like you have found a good site which would help. If it was me personally, once I have got the juice back by ageing the domain, I would create the pages on your pets website, then 301 individual pages from the expired domain to the new pages on the pets website. Lastly build internal links from these new pages to your money pages.
  39. Should give you a nice bump.
  40. ?

  42. 3. Restore the expired domains dogshowresults.com individually and then have links to mypetwebsite.com.
  43. As simple as this.
