BACKGROUND ;
	even as a kid, nayeon had never really felt like she belonged somewhere. she moved to the u.s when she was 7 and just never got along with the kids at her school. being in a predominantly white community, other students would often make fun of her for looking different and for not being able to properly communicate with them since she was only starting to learn english. this lead to the cold, closed-off nature she's kept up to this day. she wasn't one to back down to a little bullying, however, and was often found fighting back with her steely words. sometimes, if her bullies were really feeling like it, the verbal abuse would escalate to physical violence. it never got to the point of a fist fight, or something that would obviously catch the attention of teachers, though. they were more like things such as "accidentally" tripping her in the middle of the hallway so others could trample her, or slamming her against a locker several times when the hall monitors weren't looking. slowly, as the days dragged on and the bullying continued, life started feeling more and more like hell on earth.

	it didn't help that her home life wasn't much better either. she was from a rich family, sure, but it came with a price. her parents never paid much mind to her, always too busy working on a new business project or whatever the hell they were up to so they could earn more money. her parents never found out about the bullying either, though she doubted they'd care anyway. she just wished she had someone she could confide in. she had approximately half a friend and even that felt more like they were just acquaintances than anything. often times, nayeon would turn to music to help her get through the days when nothing felt right and would express her countless emotions through the intense, complex melodies she created while playing the piano.

	she was beyond relieved when her parents suggested she move back to korea for high school and live with her aunt. her aunt was someone much tolerable than her parents or the kids back in america. in fact, her aunt even made an effort to actually get nayeon to open up. though it never worked completely, nayeon is much more comfortable in her presence. high school in korea was also better. there was no more bullying and some students even tried to befriend her. MIRROR was one of the few who attempted and actually succeeded somewhat. nayeon got used to her quickly since MIRROR pretty much refused to leave her side until she agreed to become friends with her. eventually, nayeon was introduced to her group of friends. it was awkward, to say the least. she still wasn't used to making friends and might have come off as a little stony, but they didn't back down. they took her into their friend group and nayeon has never been more thankful for anything in her life. she's closest to MIRROR since she's known her the longest but she's slowly found herself warming up to everyone else. it's quite a nice change from the lonely life she'd always lived, though sometimes she still felt out of place. after all, they were already friends before she came along. somewhere deep inside of her, she feels as if she's intruding but she pushes it off every single day.

PERSONALITY ;
	probably nayeon's most prevalent trait is that she's pessimistic beyond belief. lots of people have criticized her for being way too negative, but it's not as if she's purposely doing it. she's a realist and knows first hand how disgusting and painful the world can get. she can't tolerate people who can smile so brightly and casually as if they can just easily ignore everything wrong with the world. it was unnerving, in her opinion. how can someone pretend to be so blind?
	she's aloof and standoffish and hates herself for it. she's terrible at expressing herself beyond pressing piano keys and would never in a million years admit that the one thing she truly craves is a place to belong in. to be surrounded by people who genuinely cared about her and accepted her despite all of her flaws. to be able to let go of all the negativity that's constantly clouded her life and just live for once. she's tired of feeling alone but in her heart, she know it's unrealistic for her to crave a world where she was anything but.

LOVE INTEREST PERSONALITY ; hyunjin, though he was a little taken aback by her coldness to begin with, tries his very best to befriend nayeon. he always sees her around all alone and he can't help but want to keep her company. he accidentally invades her personal space sometimes, but he knows to immediately back down when it happens. generally, he's lively and loud and she surprisingly finds him extremely amusing. though she was a little put off by how optimistic he seemed to be, she eventually warmed up to him. something about him just makes her want to be near him, and his presence momentarily makes all the loneliness she feels disappear.
FIRST IMPRESSION ; hyunjin's out taking pictures of god knows what and he accidentally takes a picture of nayeon. nayeon notices this, panics, and immediately runs for it. hyunjin finds her somewhat captivating and wants to meet her again to either apologize or just to introduce himself. nayeon thinks he's just some creepy, yet unbelievably attractive guy and prays to whoever god might be listening that he isn't some sort of perv that'll post her picture online or something.
