- Pokemon Platinum Any% Glitchless FAQ
- Q: What do you play this game on?
- A: I play on a Nintendo DS with a capture board installed into it.
- Q: What are you trying to do?
- A: Beat Pokemon Platinum as fast as possible without the use of glitches.
- Q: Why do you keep resetting and changing the time and date?
- A: I probably didn't hit the proper trainer ID I was looking for (49741). I also need to set a specific time and date in order to use RNG manipulation, so I set things up properly each time I reset.
- Q: What's with this really weird movement you're doing?
- A: The movement I'm doing is RNG manipulation. If you've seen me do Soul Silver glitchless, it's similar to that where I follow a set path to get certain occurrences.
- Q: Why do you choose Piplup?
- A: You might be thinking that Chimchar is a better fit for this run with how Game Freak places gyms in this run, but the Piplup evolutionary line does a much better job clearing the game in the longrun.
- Q: What are Piplup's stats?
- A: 24/27/28/29/23/29 with a Mild nature.
- Q: Do you manipulate anything else?
- A: You better believe it!
- 1. Kriketot with a 5% chance to hold the item "Metronome".
- 2. Starley and Bidoof for HM Fly, Cut, and Rock Smash.
- 3. No encounters
- 4. POKERUS
- Q: HOW IN THE WORLD IS THIS POSSIBLE?!
- A: Generation 4 is one of the most exploitable generations of Pokemon. With proper knowledge on how to exploit this game and lots of trial and error, the perfect path has been mapped out for this to be humanly possible.
- Q: So why don't you just make a path to make the entire game easy to play?
- A: This would have the opposite effect having to be perfect the entire game. It's just not humanly possible and wouldn't be worth investing the time into.
- Q: Are the spinners manipulatable like in Gen 3
- A: Bag manipulation does not have the same effect. The only way to manipulate spinners is through extended manipulation the last from the starter all the way to Hearthome City. This method makes spinners and trainers move the exact same way everytime, but is very hard to pull off consistently. Here's a video on the entire process. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCsjPGcSPy4
- Q: What does the item Metronome do?
- A: Metronome increases the damage output of a move by 10% each time you use that move. So 1.1x, 1.2x, 1.3x, until it caps at 2x! Every now and then this will save a turn or 2, but can be extremely valuable for the early game fights like Rival 2/3, Roark, Gardenia, and a very small amount of fights in the late game.
- Q: Why do you play as the girl?
- A: The boy talks less in the Pokemon catching tutorial, so we pick the girl to get less text. The text from the girl also screws up RNG manipulation so it's just not worth it.
