  1. >Adopting a neglected Yuri from an Doki orphanage, with the intent of taking good care of her for the rest of your life.
  2. >Driving her home, she sits in the back, not speaking to you.
  3. >You can understand why, you've heard of the stories on the news, you've seen the footage of Dokis being abused, it makes sense for her to be a bit untrusting.
  4. >You reach your destination, walking out into drizzling rain, you open Yuri's door for her, with her stepping out, whispering "thank you" under her breath.
  5. >You walk up to the front door, unlocking it while she stands a fair distance away from you.
  6. >You gently open the door, and hold it for Yuri.
  7. >She walks in ahead of you, you follow her, closing the door behind you.
  8. >You politely ask her to follow you, so you can show her the room you prepared for her.
  9. >It's not anything special, but it has the necessities, a mini-fridge filled up with food and drinks, a comfy bed with several pillows and a big soft blanket, as well as a few books for her to read.
  10. >She gives a small smile, thanking you for your kindness, you promise to keep her safe, letting her know that she's always welcome in your home.
  11. >You let her have some space, walking away to sit down, thinking of ways to help her.
  12. >After all, due to her past, she really doesn't want to be around other people, after previous experiences.
  13. >Maybe you could slowly get her to come out of her shell, you don't want to force it, though.
  14. >It's been nearly a week since you brought Yuri home, your interactions have mostly been meaningless greetings in the morning.
  15. >You have been delivering new books to her door almost every other day, she's a quick reader, and she really has nothing else to do while couped up in her room.
  16. >One day, you slip in a letter, offering to read with her, setting a specific time where you'd be sitting in the living room, waiting for her.
  17. >To your surprise, she actually shows up, politely saying "Hello, Anon." you greet her back.
  18. >She sits down on the couch, next to you, opening the book, positioning it in a way where both of you can read.
  19. >You both start reading, enjoying the relaxing atmosphere.
  20. >A few minutes in, Yuri starts reading out loud to herself, completely forgetting that you're there.
  21. >You giggle to yourself, bringing her back to her senses.
  22. >"O-oh! I'm sorry, Anon... sometimes I get a bit carried away, after all... reading was really the only comfort I had in life for a while..." She says, a slight frown forming on her face, you let her know that it's alright, and that she doesn't have to apologize.
  23. >She smiles, and you both return back to reading.
  24. >It's been nearly an hour now, you and Yuri have sped through nearly 10 chapters of the book you were reading.
  25. >Yuri yawns, getting up off of the couch, thanking you for reading with her.
  26. >She starts walking back to her room, but stops mid-way.
  27. >"..."
  28. >"Good night, Anon." she says.
  29. >You and Yuri now have a routine of reading at 7 PM every day, always discussing the book afterwards for a good hour or two, before going your seperate ways.
  30. >She's actually been a lot more out-going recently, coming out of her room to say hello to you, asking how your day went.
  31. >After a specifically rough day of work, you come home to wallow in self-pity on the couch.
  32. >Yuri walks out to welcome you home, you try to force a smile and talk to her, but she notices the sadness in your voice.
  33. >"Anon, are you alright?" she asks, you try to lie to her about your day, but she keeps pushing you and pushing you, until you finally break down.
  34. >You explain things to her, how much of a cunt your boss is, how useless your co-workers are, and how you feel like you can't take it anymore.
  35. >She tells you that everything will be alright, giving you a cheerful smile, telling you not to worry about things, it'll turn out alright in the end.
  36. >She reaches her hand up to your head, patting it gently, before she yanks it away.
  37. >"I'm... I'm sorry!" she shouts, running into her room, slamming the door behind her and locking it.
  38. >You get up and knock on her door, telling her that it's alright, she didn't do anything wrong.
  39. >After a few minutes of talking to each other through the door, she finally unlocks it.
  40. >You wait a minute before entering.
  41. >Walking in, you see her lying on the bed, hiding her face with the blanket.
  42. >"Yuri..." you say, concerned about her.
  43. >"I... shouldn't have touched you, I'm sorry... I just got carried away..." she whimpers.
  44. >You tell her that it's alright, she doesn't have to be upset about it.
  45. >"I promised myself I'd never get attached to anyone ever again, and I broke that promise." she says, sniffling into the blanket.
  46. >You ask her if she could move the blanket for a bit, she obliges.
  47. >Seeing her tearful eyes, you can't help but feel bad for her.
  48. >You tell her that it's alright to get attached to people, she shouldn't feel bad about it, after all, it's only human nature.
  49. >She smiles, wiping the tears off her face.
  50. >"Well..."
  51. >"If you really mean that, I want to confess to something..."
  52. >"I really like you, Anon... you're kind to me, sweet, and... you care for me a lot, I can tell..." she says.
  53. >"D-do... you like me too, Anon?" she asks.
  54. >You reply yes, reaching your arm out to her, she grabs onto it, snuggling up to it.
  55. >"I'm sorry for being so... distant." she says.
  56. >Once again, you tell her it's fine, and tell her to follow you.
  57. >She gets up, still holding onto your arm, not wanting to let go.
  58. >You bring out a chair, and tell her to sit on it, she looks confused, but does it anyway.
  59. >You leave the room for a second, and come back wielding a hairbrush.
  60. >"A-anon? What do you plan on doin-" she gets cut off, as you start to gently brush her hair, promising that you'll always be there for her, telling her that you love her, with every stroke.
  61. >She stops talking, her muffled moaning being the only vocalization from her.
  62. >By the time you're done, she's nearly asleep, allowing herself to be carried back into her room.
  63. >You kiss her on the forehead, walking out of the room, before you're interrupted.
  64. >"Anon, wait."
  65. >"Can you... sleep with me tonight?" she asks.
  66. >And so, you climbed into bed with her, giving her everything she asks, spooning with her, covering yourselves up with the blanket.
  67. >You both fall asleep, Yuri cradled in your arms, smiling.
