  12. | This audio file is an audio commentary track that is meant to |
  13. | be played alongside your own copy of the movie. Once it's |
  14. | synced with the movie, you will hear us making jokes and |
  15. | adding lines to the movie just like Mystery Science Theater |
  16. | 3000 used to, back in the day. |
  17. | |
  18. | In order to set this up... |
  19. | |
  20. | * Make sure you have A) something to play the mp3 with (ie. |
  21. | your computer, a laptop, an mp3 player) that is within |
  22. | earshot of B) something to view the movie with (such as a TV |
  23. | or your computer). We recommend playing the track and movie |
  24. | on the same computer since you'll have all the controls at |
  25. | your fingertips, but it's not necessary. |
  26. | |
  27. | * Next, play the QuipTrack. You hear us say some (ideally) |
  28. | funny things and then we'll give you a "Sync Point" and tell |
  29. | you to pause the track. This sync point will be an easily |
  30. | identifiable landmark in the movie we're riffing and, as we |
  31. | explain in the track intros, you'll be unpausing the |
  32. | QuipTrack in the next step when you see this come up in the |
  33. | movie. |
  34. | |
  35. | * Now you should have your QuipTrack paused at the exact (or |
  36. | nearly exact) moment after we finish saying the word "pause" |
  37. | (don't sweat this too much; we'll count you in and if you're |
  38. | a little bit off, you probably won't even notice). Start your |
  39. | movie playing via the mechanism of your choice. Be ready to |
  40. | unpause the QuipTrack at the predetermined point. |
  41. | |
  42. | After you unpause and the QuipTrack officially begins, you'll |
  43. | have several chances throughout the course of the movie to |
  44. | course correct if it gets out of sync. This is done with the |
  45. | help of Beeper, a robot who will, every so often signal a |
  46. | scene change in the movie. When this happens, Beeper will |
  47. | give one beep to let you know to pay attention, then, exactly |
  48. | one second later, he will play another, higher-toned beep |
  49. | that should occur exactly on a major cut in the movie. If the |
  50. | beep occurs before the cut, pause the QuipTrack for the |
  51. | approximate amount it was off by. If it sounds late, pause |
  52. | the movie. These adjustments are usually very small if they |
  53. | even come up at all. |
