  1. I am Orio Palmer’s son and I'm commenting to tell you that, as politicians with an agenda never fail to do, former Congressman Curt Weldon is warping the final words of a man who died on September 11th, my father, to support their narrative and political agenda. So the following are the facts, whether they support or deny any beliefs you might hold about the events of September 11th:
  2.
  3. They cut out my dad's mention of "breached walls" (aka cracked/broken) in the stairwells during his ascent. They swapped the chronological order of the transmissions. They also didn't include the transmissions where he reports what he saw on the 78th floor upon reaching it, which Weldon references. At no point does my dad say "we can handle it". He communicates a plan for the firefighters of Ladder 15, coming up behind him, to combat the fires that were still burning. And he was communicating the need for "two engines" (more firemen) to come help because of the number of "10-45, code ones" - aka casualties. I know all of this because these were my dad's dying words, so I've heard them many times.
  4.
  5. My dad was doing his job. Not making commentary on the severity of the damage to the building and whether or not it was in danger of collapsing.
  6.
  7. A member of Senator Weldon's team contacted me a few months back about signing on to lend credibility to his call for an independent investigation into the events of 9/11. I voiced my concerns about the fact that my father's story has been held up as "evidence" for years that there was a larger conspiracy at play behind the collapse of the towers. I asked to see the petition they were asking me to sign, and it was never sent to me, nor have I heard from Congressman Weldon or any of his team since.

  9. I would ask for you, Americans of YouTube, to see the angry theatrics for what they are - theatrics - and realize that this is politics. Not a man on a quest for justice out of the goodness of his heart. This is a moment in which questioning facts and sowing distrust in the institutions of our country plays favorably with the current administration, and that's exactly what Weldon is seeking by using my father's story - political favor. And my father - a very real person whose actions on September 11th hold deep meaning for us as a family - being used to garner political favor is not something I will tolerate.
