  1. StanleyVR 0.1.0 readme:
  2. It's finally here! The first release of the VR mod for The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe. This one is still quite unfinished, and you will find bugs! The nature of the game makes it hard to test everything and find all possible scenarios that cause issues in VR. That's why I'm counting on you guys to give me good bug reports in the bug tracker. Also, don't skip the readme on this one!
  3.
  4. Before installing
  5. Disable the Steam Game Theatre to prevent it from starting up when you're trying to play StanleyVR:
  6.
  7. Right click Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe on Steam.
  8. Select Properties.
  9. Under "General", disable "Use Desktop Game Theatre".
  10. Installing
  11. To install this mod, extract the contents of this zip to your Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe game folder.
  12.
  13. Usually that would be something like:
  14. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe
  15.
  16. After extracting, the file "winhttp.dll" should be on the same folder as "The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe.exe".
  17.
  18. Controller Inputs
  19. I have included input bindings for Oculus, Index, Vive, and WMR. If they aren't comfortable for you, please let me know and send me suggestions of better bindings.
  20.
  21. The game will show you XBox controller input prompts, which won't match your VR controller bindings. Check the SteamVR input bindings window to learn the VR controls.
  22.
  23. Most of the controls should be easy enough to guess, except for the recenter button.
  24.
  25. In most controllers, you can recenter by holding L3 or R3 (clicking and holding either analog stick).
  26.
  27. For Vive controllers, recenter by holding either menu button.
  28.
  29. Recentering
  30. There are some issues with the player position not matching the camera position.
  31.
  32. You should probably play sitting down and avoid moving too much to keep it stable until these issues are fixed.
  33.
  34. When you look down at the floor, you should see a shadow. If the shadow isn't underneath you, hold the recenter button.
  35.
  36. Bugs
  37. This is an early development version of StanleyVR. There are many bugs.
  38.
  39. Report any bugs you find here: https://rai.canny.io/stanley-vr
  40.
  41. Make sure to include a full description of the bugs, including steps to reproduce it (and how to reach that point).
  42.
  43. Upload save files and logs somewhere and share them within the bug reports if possible.
  44.
  45. Logs and save files can be found in:
  46. %UserProfile%\AppData\LocalLow\Crows Crows Crows\The Stanley Parable_ Ultra Deluxe
  47.
  48. If possible, include all files in there when you make a bug report.
  49.
  50.
  51.
  52. StanleyVR 0.2.0 readme:
  53. This mod only supports The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe.
  54.
  55. Read the install instructions in the README.txt file included in the relase zip.
  56.
  57. I try not to include any spoilers in my changelogs. There are some keywords related to available endings, but without context they don't mean much.
  58.
  59. Please report any bugs you find in the bug tracker. Even minor bugs. It's very likely that I don't find or notice many of the existing bugs due to the many routes the game has.
  60.
  61. Changelog:
  62.
  63. Fixed camera moving down (and eventually clipping through the floor) every time you crouch, or when walking on slopes.
  64. Fixed black screens flashing in a nightmare epileptic spectacle. This includes some ending scenes, right after skipping the intro video, and a few other instances.
  65. Fixed camera flipping upside down momentarily in some scenes.
  66. Fixed fade-in/out overlays being just a rectanble in front of the player. This should fix most if not all fades (black, white, red). Let me know if you find other things that should cover the whole screen but show up as just a rectangle.
  67. Forced "simplified inputs" mode. This is an easy workaround for the issue where the game would some times ask you to "press X" or some other Xbox button. It will now ask you to "Press any button", but for now you can only press the button you use to interact.
  68. Fixed "figleys" being hidden behind the background.
  69. Fixed camera being rotated in "escape" ending.
  70. Fixed camera being scaled incorrectly and tilted in a specific scene. There are still likely many scenes where the camera is scaled incorrectly (as in, the world will look way too big or way too small). If you find any of these, please report it!
  71. I think I've fixed the black screens in some scenes. Including the red / blue door, and the escape route. Or at least it doesn't happen to me after all these fixes. Please let me know if they work for you!
  72.
  73. StanleyVR 0.3.0 readme:
  74. Content
  75. Prevent camera clipping through walls. This might be a bit jittery, especially if you play standing and move around a lot. But it will avoid most situations where the player could just put their head through a wall and see stuff on the other side.
  76. Keep player body under camera, reduce portal blinking. It should now be less likely that the player body becomes offset from the camera. So you shouldn't need to recenter so often to keep it stable. This also means that going through portals will be less glitchy. Portals still aren't perfect due to the stereo cameras though.
  77. Made the cutscene camera static, fixed scale. In some cutscenes, the world scale would be incorrect (everything is tiny), and it would often have the wrong rotation. For now I'm just gonna use a static camera for these cutscenes (no rotation or position tracking). Allowing the player to look around would reveal a bunch of "wholes" in the world, since that part wasn't meant to be seen. These cutscenes should be quite rare though, so I don't think they'll be too problematic. Whenever possible, I'm still allowing at least rotation tracking during cutscenes.
  78. Fix blinking / eye lid animation that happens in some sections of the game.
  79. Made some UI adjustments.
  80. Fixed a specific ending cutscene.
