  1. Born on the Death world of Gargan, Varon was originally named "UggThalmk Grrlvrrl" and the son of a great chieftain of his people. Long had the metal men used his world to bring more of the Sky-Father's chosen into their fold, to fight the Dark Ones who descended periodically upon their world, killing and ravaging the people as they went. Lithe like a corpse, with the same complexion, these monsters only sought to kill and capture slaves for their twisted games, and served as a very useful villain in stories for small children as to why they shouldn't wander from camp. But these paled in comparison to the true monsters of his world, of the "Grralbrak Vgthoh" The cursed ones. These beings were truly, unrepentant evil, having betrayed the Sky-Father in his war in Heaven many moons ago, and for their treachery they were turned into hideous monsters. Such monsters stalk the jungles of Gargan, and it is said that when any of the men of the world turn from the Sky-Father's light, they themselves would turn into Cursed Ones as well.

  3. It was a dark night when Varon's life would change forever. He was a young boy of 16, and his father's tribe was one of the strongest of the sparse plains where humans could live on Gargan, the jungles being far too dangerous. The sky above was wracked in a dark purple light, and from the sky came a great many flashes. After several hours, the flashes stopped, and a great ball of fire appeared in the sky. Growing and growing it descended upon Gargan, until its true form was revealed. A great metal thing was falling from the sky, no doubt smote from the Sky-Father's domain for its transgressions. The giant red metal thing crashed into gargan several hundred kilometers from the camp of Varon's people. A feast was held in the Sky-Father's honor and parties were sent out to see what exactly the Sky-Father had defeated... They never returned. Soon hunting and foraging parties began to be attacked by a great number of cursed ones, and the attacks were occurring closer and closer to camp, until it got to the point that even stepping outside of the walls was a death sentence, and few slept. Not content to let his people starve, Varon's father took his best warriors and set out to kill the cursed ones, and whatever was creating more of them. Several days later, only Varon's father returned. He was missing and arm, and bleeding severely everywhere else. He told his son to run, to run far away, for the creatures that came from the great red "shieeep" cannot be defeated by mere men. Taking the remaining tribesmen and the women and children, he left for the lands of their allies, the Spear Strokers. The jungle claimed many along the way with its deadly plants and deadlier creatures, but after 5 moons of journeying, they arrived. They told tale of what had happened to their people, and of the danger coming their way. Despite the pleas of the women, the chieftain of the Spear Strokers was resolute on gathering his host, and the host of his allies, and marching off to war. For the death of his father, and a chance to avenge him, the chieftain allowed Varon a place in the vanguard, to strike first against the unseen enemy. A harrowing march through the jungle followed, as the strength of 13 tribes gathered to assault that which poisoned their world. By day they were assailed by heat and disease, and by night the cursed ones came to harass the army. Losses were horrendous, and one by one, almost as if tactically targeting them, the chieftains of the tribes fell, until only Varon remained to lead the tattered remains of the army against the hordes of the cursed ones. After 58 moons of marching, loosing over a fifth of the army, and another fifth to desertion or the "changing", they finally arrived at the edge of the crater, wherein its center was the giant red "ship" that crashed into their world. In-between the odd 13,000 tribesmen and the ship was a land befraught with all manner of chaos. What appeared to be metal men, but twisted and wrong, stood amongst throngs of ravenous humans who tore into each other with ravenous fervor, and abounding among them also were all manner of cursed ones. Coming to far to turn back now, Varon lead the assembled host in a furious charge into the crater, and slammed ferociously into the right flank of one of the bands of the cursed metal men. The battle was joined, though it would seem to all that the bands of the cursed seemed to be fighting each other as fiercely as they fought the tribesmen. The battle proceeded for hours, with humans on all sides falling in great numbers, with a scant few of the cursed ones falling as well, but none of the twisted metal men seemingly even injured by any attacks. Cornered himself by a metal man, Varon was looking death in the eye when a miracle occurred. From the sky came the fireballs of the metal men, cast by the Sky-Father himself as deliverance for the world of Gargan. From their holy vessels the angels stepped forth, casting holy bolts of fury into the ranks of the cursed enemies. As the massive twisted metal man screams something to his compatriots, it was all the distraction Varon needed, as he took his father's spear and thrust it under the softer, degraded armor of the metal men. Joined by the Sky-Father's Angels, the tide was turned and the tribesmen and metal men pushed the invaders back into their ship, where the battle grew bloodier. Eventually the day was one, and with the aid of the metal men, the cursed ones and the chariot of the twisted metal men was destroyed. The loss of life was great, and many friends had fallen. The metal men turned to depart from the world, but not before asking the young boys present, all around Varon's age, and including him, if they wished to join the sky father and protect not only Gargan, but the entire domain of the Sky-Father. His father dead, his tribe all but destroyed, Varon had little difficulty deciding what to do next. the next few years had Varon gain his current name, and learn the truth of his world and of the universe around him. He became a scout, as is tradition, earning many kills and having a penchant for melee combat. Eventually he was elevated to the position of space marine, in the 6th company. After spending 5 years as a tactical marine, he was further promoted to a position in the 8th company as a Assault marine, spending the next 3 decades as a Assault Marine, eventually promoted to captain of the 8th, and earning himself a power sword he still uses to this day, "Sun Sunderer". Eventually he was promoted further, into the 1st company veterans, and from there into the sanguinary guard. After many years there, he was finally elevated to the rank of chapter master after the previous master succumbed to the Black Rage, ceding his post and joining the death company.
