  2. ⓘ Original Sin, what is it? Why is it important to good people who live life the best they can? Why is it important to Christ to not be born from Joseph's seed?

  7. Keep in mind, we are humans and cannot really make an absolute claim
  8. But we can know God exists

  11. There are some problems that would require all the computers on Earth the age of the universe to solve.
  12. That is, there are many problems which the human brain cannot solve with estimation/error.
  13. +mind_spirit
  14. maybe you should look to the absolute for answers?
  15. +GoldrainMoonbreeze
  16. Worldview beliefs are probably examples of such problems.
  17. The human mind has finite computational ability and finite storage -- it can only approximate 'the absolute'.
  18. There are classes of problems for which you must be able to see the entire structure of the problem, i.e the entire graph, to use a deterministic algorithm.
  19. More likely, here is the situation in which we find ourselves:
  20. +mind_spirit
  21. Absolute is defined as, "Free from restrictions, unlimited, unconditioned." "The Unlimited and Perfect Being, God."
  22. +GoldrainMoonbreeze
  23. Worldviews or idea-systems, like Christianity, Buddhism, materialism are more or less useful for the problem landscape the mind currently finds itself in.
  24. For example, in the AI future, communism and Buddhism may become far more relevant than they currently are.

  28. Some systems which might be extremely useful in some problem landscapes could, conceivably, become mostly useless in another problem landscape.

  30. The Absolute, being Unconditioned, is Infinite and All; It is that Which Is, or the Truth. It is axiomatic that the Truth, being All, cannot be separated, limited nor divided; It must be Changeless, Complete, Perfect and Uncreated.
  31. +GoldrainMoonbreeze
  32. The clever agent must be willing to abandon any and all beliefs, up to whole idea-systems (aka religions or 'philosophies')
  33. Notably, some idea-systems, such as Hinduism or Buddhism or science, encourage this behavior.
  34. Some idea-systems are built around disallowing this meta-criticism.
  35. mind_spirit: I believe your pointer points to a null object.

  39. There is too much variation in humanity for their to be a universal system.

  42. The dream of a universal system, which the Abrahamic faiths have, is ultimately for ruin.
  43. Empirically, never in recorded history has a single idea-system managed to achieve total dominance.
  44. So, it's an axiom to assert that there is a possible universal idea-system for the neuro-variation in Homo sapiens.
  45. (Unless you provide some kind of proof, which is beyond human thought in 2017, it appears)

  52. In Buddhism, there is the concept of The Four Virtues.
  53. +mind_spirit
  54. The Absolute is Cause, the relative is effect; the Absolute depends upon Itself, being Self-Existent; the relative must depend upon the Absolute.
  55. +GoldrainMoonbreeze
  56. The fourth of these is equanimity, or a mind which is undisturbed by events, both external and internal.
  57. Is it truly possible to have such a mind?
  58. I don't know.
  59. But, is it possible to move the nature of our mind in that direction?
  60. Yes.

  62. +GoldrainMoonbreeze
  63. So, I recommend not worrying about whether is it possible to have a mind which features 'absolute' equanimity.
  64. Just pick a useful goal and then move in that direction.
  65. You can iterate this process, which would allow reaching the ultimate goal, if it exists.
  66. I believe I can tell you the mental function of the 'absolute', mind_spirit.
  67. +mind_spirit
  68. We should be careful not to deny the relative, simply because it is not absolute. To suppose that there could be an Absolute without a relative, would be to suppose that there could be an unexpressed God or First Cause; this is unthinkable and impossible.

  70. 1 - The universe is much bigger than the human mind
  71. 2 - The human mind cannot process the universe, even the sliver of the universe it can perceive based off its senses/physiology

  76. +mind_spirit
  77. There is only one mind and we are one with it.
