- Hey guys, I'm facing a veery weird issue. Basically, every 30-60 seconds, my game FPS drops to unplayable levels, from 110+ FPS to 10-20 FPS. The attached video demonstrates it (compression kinda messed up the end, but it's about 100-130 fps at the ending)
- This is most noticable in Fortnite, but also happens in other games and Minecraft, although in MC 1.8.9 the game drops to 40-50 FPS there and I didn't really test it that much other than noticing it while playing.
- My specs:
- -ASUS ROG Flow X13, had it since January, before that my father used it for about 8 months but not for gaming or too power intensive usage.
- -Ryzen 7 5800HS
- -RTX 3050 Laptop GPU
- -16 GB LPDDR4 SDRAM
- -1080p 144hz HP x24ih Display with FreeSync Premium
- My in game settings in FN:
- -DirectX 11
- -Low preset
- -Nvidia DLSS Performance mode
- What I've tried so far:
- -Disabling DLSS
- -FN performance mode (made the game playable but still has the drop)
- -FN DirectX 12
- -Uninstalling NVIDIA Broadcast
- -Uninstalling Geforce Experience
- -Disabling FreeSync
- -Disabling Radeon Boost and similar radeon options (integrated graphics)
- -Disabling Logitech G HUB, Discord, Whatsapp
- -Disabling recording in Xbox Game Bar
- -DDU + Reinstall (for both iGPU and dGPU)
- What I've found out during testing:
- -As you can see in the attached images, the CPU usage DROPS, from about 50% to 8%. The GPU usage starts spiking inconsistently, stays around 60%. The time where the FPS drops in game is marked with red, green is after I returned to the main menu in game
- -I know 50% CPU and 60% GPU is quite low and the laptop is most likely thermal throttling, but I think that's normal since the laptop is a thin and light.
- I provided as much information as I could. I hope someone can help me! This issue has been killing me for the last 2 days.
