  1. [F4A] Perfect Playlist [Friends to Lovers] [Old bandmates] [Reminiscing] a bit of [nerdy music talk] [Confession] a couple of [kisses] [L-bombs]
  2.
  3. [square brackets] for tone/actions, SFX where noted (optional)
  4. *asterisks* for emphasis
  5. double spaces for longer pauses
  6. /slashes/ used for explanations of sounds or actions or any contextual events
  7.
  8. Background: You (speaker) and the listener were in a band together in the past and were very close, with mutual feelings but nothing romantic came of it. The band split up due to the members' different life situations and the speaker and listener fell out of contact.
  9.
  10. The pair recently reconnected and have been meeting up together with friends frequently. The script starts after one such get-together as they are getting ready to leave.
  11.
  12. If you fill this script, feel free to adjust or improvise as necessary.
  13. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
  14.
  15. It's getting pretty dark. Think its time to leave?
  16.
  17. Yeah we've been here for a while. Don't want to overstay our welcome or anything.
  18.
  19. Can you help me with this? Just grab those edges there.
  20.
  21. [SFX: blankets rustle]
  22.
  23. Thanks. So what are your plans for the rest of the night?
  24.
  25. Oh, same here. I'll probably call an Uber or something.
  26.
  27. It's not that close, are you sure?
  28.
  29. Ok, then a lift would be great! Just let me grab my things and we can head out.
  30.
  31.
  32. [muffled] Yeah it's been great! Thanks for inviting me! I'll talk to you soon.
  33.
  34. [SFX: car door opens] [SFX: car door closes]
  35.
  36. Ohhhh-kay that took a lot longer than I thought. [chuckle]
  37.
  38. We've been hanging out so much recently you'd think we'd get tired of each other. Who knew goodbyes could take so long?
  39.
  40. [satisfied sigh] I am so ready to be at home right now.
  41.
  42. Oh right, you don't know where my new place is. You can go the usual route and I'll tell you where to go when we get a bit closer.
  43.
  44. You're going to put on some music? Cool.
  45.
  46. Hey, I remember this song! It's been a while since I've heard it. I still remember how strict you were with our timing when we practiced it [laughs]
  47.
  48. You were such a perfectionist. I've always liked that part of you.
  49.
  50.
  51. Oh oh oh, this next bit is great. When we played it we did all these breaks and drum fills. And we even changed up the progression to make it sound more jazzy.
  52.
  53. Do you remember how Ellie always complained about the songs you chose?
  54.
  55. She was all "This key is awful, why would you do this to me?!"
  56.
  57. [laughs]
  58.
  59. It did make my harmonies a bit more annoying to work out, too.
  60.
  61. You never worried much, though, did you? Always working out the kinks for us.
  62.
  63. [teasing] That was pretty great of you, band leader.
  64.
  65. Yeah it was a lot of fun.
  66.
  67. It was a pity we had to end it back then, though.
  68.
  69. Do you ever miss it? Playing with the old band, I mean.
  70.
  71. Same here. We just meshed really well, and not just as a band.
  72.
  73. We used to hang out all the time before, even outside of our rehearsals.
  74.
  75. [longingly] You don't find those relationships often, you know?
  76.
  77. But I guess people at different stages of their lives won't always be on the same page. [sighs]
  78.
  79.
  80. Go to the next song? Ok.
  81.
  82. [gasps] Oh my god you still have this? Wow, it's good to know your taste in music is still what it used to be [laughs]
  83.
  84. I really like the quick time changes for this. Kind of makes it difficult to follow sometimes but its really cool.
  85.
  86.
  87. [kind of excited] Ahh the way the bass locks in with the drums for the chorus is always so great.
  88.
  89. Did you ever learn this yourself?
  90.
  91. No? Ohh, a 5-string. Yeah I get ya.
  92.
  93. Ah, take a left after this stop.
  94.
  95.
  96. [embarrassed] H-hey, eyes up, on the road!
  97.
  98. [nervous] What? No. Blushing? What are you talking about?
  99.
  100. [changing the subject] I was just noticing that you still do that thing you always used to do.
  101.
  102. You know, how you only sing the bassline, even if isn't the catchy part of the song. You used to say that it helped you figure out the chords.
  103.
  104. Old habits die hard, huh? Not that its a bad one, its unique.
  105.
  106. Its actually pretty cute, in a nerdy way.
  107.
  108. No no no no, nerdy is good. It's been a while since I had the chance to talk music like this with someone. I've missed it.
  109.
  110. These days any conversations about music I have are pretty shallow. People tend to stay in their comfort zone and listen to a lot of mainstream stuff.
  111.
  112. But with you I can talk for hours about all the weird songs we find.
  113.
  114. I guess that type of talk is more common when you're actually friends with musicians.
  115.
  116. You can just go a bit further down this road then turn into the cul-de-sac on the right.
  117.
  118.
  119. This is me. Thanks for driving me home.
  120.
  121.
  122. /the two sit in silence for a while/
  123.
  124.
  125. Ok, so...I know we've only recently started hanging out together again, but it's been great, right? I mean, it has been, for me, at least. I'm pretty sure you've also been having fun?
  126.
  127. It really reminded me of the past.
  128.
  129. Yeah, our time as a band.
  130.
  131. After we split up, everybody just kind of went their separate ways. And we all just lost contact.
  132.
  133. I don't think anybody *meant* for it to happen, but life can just get in the way of things.
  134.
  135. But it was really difficult for me.
  136.
  137. Not being able to see everybody anymore.
  138.
  139. [softer] Not being able to see...you...anymore.
  140.
  141. But hanging out with you, and everybody else, it made it feel like those months we lost didn't actually happen.
  142.
  143. [deep breath] And so...um...I feel like I need to say this now, because I don't want us to drift apart again.
  144.
  145. I can't *not* say this again.
  146.
  147. [deep breath] I...I like you. Like really, really like you. I *have* liked you. *Loved* you. Since our whole band era.
  148.
  149. But...that was the past. And like I said, we were all at different stages of our lives.
  150.
  151. But now, with seeing you again, and being together so often, and now all this reminiscing, it's like all those feeling just came flooding back, and I...I just-
  152.
  153. /listener interrupts you with a kiss/
  154.
  155. [flustered, out of breath] Oh my god what? Wait, what?
  156.
  157. Also what do you mean you figured as much?
  158.
  159. Wait, you set up this playlist just for this? To hit me with all these nostalgia bombs so I'd confess?
  160.
  161. [puzzled] Not so that *I'd* confess? What are you saying?
  162.
  163. Does that mean that you were...
  164.
  165. Oh my god, do you...do you feel the same way?
  166.
  167. [happy, relieved sigh] [laughing] Just kiss me again you band geek.
  168.
  169. [kisses]
  170.
  171. [softly] Love you too.
  172.
