  3. Wonder what would happen if a resonance cascade style event occurred, but rather than aliens from Xen teleportation to Earth, it was sinners from hell (and later overlords)

  5. I think the g-man already knows about that.

  11. How dangerous would someone like Angel Dust be to the average US Marine from the 1990's (when the resonance cascade occurred in HL)
  12. From what we've seen from the prequel comic he practically packs the firepower of a whole rifle squad and has the ability to jump incredible high into the air, making him a vastly more lethal version of the black ops assassins from HL: Opposing Force. It probably would also do a number on marines moral if the 8 foot tall demonic mobster gunman is cracking sx jokes as he's bouncing around 20 feet in the air and gunning down your comrades.

  14. A lot of it comes from the element of surprise. You can expect a lot as a soldier, but not a fking 8-foot-tall spider demon with human intellect, and a small arsenal of early 20th century firearms.
  15. -
  16. Of course the moment that element of surprise wears off, I could easily see a marine rifle squad being able to dispatch most demons pretty easily, save for overlords, that honor is reserved for the USAF. Flash and style is good and all, but nothing can really trump infantry tactics unless you yourself are versed in them. Also marines generally carry far heavier firepower in a 9 man squad than any demon could hope to carry, but the engagements would mostly depend on environment. Per say if its a freight yard or warehouse, squad tactics, flanking and various strategies could be used to full effect. But if you're dealing with an office space or enclosed maintenance corridor, most of that will break down and a lot of it will depend on who gets the drop on each other first.

  18. A lot Hell's armies (provided they're made out of Sinners) would be just cannon fodder. Any line charge (or "human wave" tactic) can be put to an end with a machine gun, provided you got the bullets.
  19. However, once actual demons come into play, you got shit like dark magic to deal with. It's like having an engineer corps and special weapons at their disposal, with a ZERO DELAY chain of logistics. A human soldier may need a firethrower and special uniforms, while a demon can be made fire and bulletproof, and summon fire or a hail of piercing stones in return.
  20. Best you can do is thin out the fodder, and keep the heavy hitters at bay, and wait for angelic support (after all, if you're seeing demons on Earth, chances are that Judgement Day had kicked off early, and unless God has decided that this is humanity's last challenge, you can expect the Heavens to back you up - if not, you're free to go out in blaze of glory).
  21. If you've made your way into Hell, chances are your superiors have jumped the gun, some scientist or nutty cultist had made a portal to Hell, or you have some megacorp cocking up and needing Uncle Sam to plug the whole they've made in time and space.
  22. If the latter is the case, clear anyone who tries to get through the portal, and if you're already inside Hell, don't be far from it, and protect it like a bridgehead until the bean counters on the other side are ready to close it.
  23.
  24. Attacking Hell before Judgement Day is basically suicide, with the only benefit that you'll be able to continue the fight in the afterlife, since trying to take on demons as a mortal (unless you're a priest) is a pretty heavy hubris.
  25.
  26. ...I wonder if a company made exclusively of chaplains would work?
  27. -
  28. The idea would basically boil down to that hell is a well known place within the US Gov. higher echelons of military, gov and intelligence. Although their are no plans on invading hell (recognizing the suicidal and pointless nature of a such an operation as well as the financial and manpower costs,) various plans have been drafted in the event that something like Judgement Day occurs. Unfortunately it mostly boils down to hoping that heaven as well as hell is real and they also come to help. On the fateful day in question, much like in the events that lead to Half Life, during a routine experiment involving, lets say, "negative-mass spatial fabric turgidity testing," a horrible accident occurs and the fabric between hell and earth is ripped to shreds and millions of demons begin pouring into Earth, starting with Black Mesa, NM.
  29. Honestly if I had the writing skills or the time i'd try and crank out a quick greentext story, but as of current im too pressed for time. Maybe some day soon if the interest is still there

  31. Considering the nature of Hazbin's Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if Sinners would be the only ones to jump the gun the moment they have an opportunity to return to the mortal realm (demons and other Hell-borne in general wanting nothing to do with humans to begin with), forcing Hell's royalty to actually get off their asses and prevent sinners from escaping (trying to avoid triggering an early Judgement Day).
  32.
  33. I'm guessing that besides a few stragglers (opportune Sinners and curious imps and Hellhounds) that got out, Luci and the others would try to lock down the portal from their end ASAP, since it's practically an uncontrollable exit from their domain that upsets the preexisting status quo, and undermines their authority over Hell.

  35. >Portal to hell gets opened up from a fucked experiment
  36. You gave me an idea
  37. >The gates to hell are opened to the mortal world once more
  38. >After some of what could loosely be called diplomacy, the government recognized most of the sinners as former us citizens
  39. >Immigration between worlds is opened but with the strictest regulations
  40. >Only so many sinners can come per day and mostly highly skilled ones at that, along side other rules
  41. >A housing program got started that allows for humans to host sinners in exchange for financial aid
  42. >Basically its monster musume but hell.
  43. -
  44. Considering this is Hell we're talking about, I'd say either it's a very hush-hush project, or all of Earth's governments pitch in, hoping to keep the religious at bay in exchange for Helltech.
  45. In either case, the Judgement Day counter has officially started ticking.

  47. >Oh we cant just let you in here!
  48. >You have a gun that can melt a tank a mile away?
  49. >Well in that case... Whoops! Oh no my back is turned! I sure hope no one sneaks past me!
