- <theDM> ===Start===
- <theDM> As you launch the file you just downloaded, a small window pops up on your screen
- <theDM> The background is black, with a glitchy, light blue spirograph, a button that says START, and the word "Sburb" in big, friendly letters
- <Eric_Stevens> You drag your mouse over to the start button, and click.
- <theDM> As you do, the screen glitches
- <theDM> Sburb is replaced with the word "Showtime" for a split second before your screen goes black
- <theDM> Soon, white letters begin to type themselves across the pitch black screen
- <theDM> >Hello!
- <theDM> >Welcome to Sh------
- <theDM> The rest of the word is too glitched for you to read it
- <theDM> >Normally, players of a Sburb instance would have what is known as a "server player" connect to them and walk them through the beginning of the game, but that won't be needed here!
- <Eric_Stevens> You nod, and press space
- <theDM> >Instead, you have me!!
- <theDM> >A state of the art AI who will fill that roll for you
- <theDM> >The game you're about to play is highly individualized, so being at the mercy of another player is no good
- <theDM> >Now let us begin!
- <theDM> >Initializing machine placement...
- <theDM> >. . .
- <theDM> You hear a loud thud just behind you, followed by two more in what you believe is your living room
- <theDM> >Done!
- <theDM> >Have a nice day!!
- <Eric_Stevens> You walk off to investigate
- <theDM> Right behind you is a large, square machine with a tube in the center, a wheel on the tube, and a timer counting down
- <theDM> 5:35
- <Eric_Stevens> You turn the wheel
- <theDM> Roll STR
- <Eric_Stevens> !roll 1d20
- <Kaiserbot[Dice]> rolled 1d20 --> [ 1d20=8 ] | {8}
- <theDM> The wheel turns a tiny bit, but not by much
- <Eric_Stevens> You leave toward your living room, it's clear that you aren't supposed to use this one yet
- <theDM> There are two other machines in your living room
- <theDM> A long, thinner one with a slot and a place to put some kind of cylinder-shaped object, and another large, square one, but this one has a tall pole on the side, a small platform for a cylinder, and a large, flat platform instead of a thick tube
- <theDM> You also notice a captchalogue card on the ground
- <Eric_Stevens> You captchalogue the card
- <theDM> You gain a punched card!
- <theDM> It looks like it could fit in the slot on the thin machine
- <Eric_Stevens> You put the card in the slot
- <theDM> It snaps in just right.
- <theDM> Pointed carvers come out of the section above where the cylinder would go, waiting to activate.
- <theDM> Now you just need something to carve
- <theDM> 4:11
- <Eric_Stevens> You go to the bathroom next to your room, and captchalogue the shower curtain rod
- <theDM> You achieve a shower rod!
- <theDM> So what do you plan to do with it?
- <Eric_Stevens> You try to lever the wheel with the rod you found, that should make it a bit easier
- <theDM> Roll STR with advantage
- <Eric_Stevens> !roll 1d20
- <Kaiserbot[Dice]> rolled 1d20 --> [ 1d20=6 ] | {6}
- <Eric_Stevens> !roll 1d20
- <Kaiserbot[Dice]> rolled 1d20 --> [ 1d20=7 ] | {7}
- <theDM> It still refuses to budge as the time ticks down
- <theDM> One more shot?
- <Eric_Stevens> Yes
- <theDM> Roll it again!
- <Eric_Stevens> !roll 1d20
- <Kaiserbot[Dice]> rolled 1d20 --> [ 1d20=19 ] | {19}
- <theDM> The wheel gives, launching a flashing orb and several light peach cruxite dowels into the air around you
- <theDM> The flashing orb immediately begins glitching around, refusing to stay in one spot for a single moment
- <Eric_Stevens> You captchalogue one of the dowels, go back to the living room, and place the dowel in the carvers
- <theDM> 3:23
- <theDM> It accepts, carving the dowel into a strange, curvy shape.
- <theDM> The Kernelsprite blinks in and out of reality, demanding your attention
- <Eric_Stevens> You look at the weird glitchy ball thing
- <theDM> It's the same color as the cruxite, and it seems to want something, but the relentless glitching is making it hard to tell what
- <theDM> Either way, it's annoying, and you have something you need to do
- <theDM> The final machine awaits
- <Eric_Stevens> You open your front door and head outside for a bit
- <theDM> You see something very, very wrong
- <theDM> Meteors rain down, setting the trees around you on fire
- <theDM> Your mother sees you open the door, and shouts at you to hold it open for her
- <theDM> 2:13
- * Eric_Stevens has quit (Quit: http://www.kiwiirc.com/ - A hand crafted IRC client)
- * Eric_Stevens ([email protected]) has joined
- <Eric_Stevens> You hold the door open, and wait to go inside
- <theDM> She runs past you, back inside, obviously scared of the hellfire raining down outside
- <Eric_Stevens> You slip inside and slam the door
- <theDM> It slams shut behind you, and suddenly you're being accosted by the kernelsprite again
- <theDM> Your mother is extremely confused about what is going on in here, seeing the machinery
- <Eric_Stevens> You examine the kernelsprite, and try to figure out its motivations
- <theDM> roll Insight
- <Eric_Stevens> !roll 1d20+2
- <Kaiserbot[Dice]> rolled 1d20+2 --> [ 1d20=2 ] | {4}
- <theDM> You have no idea what it wants
- <theDM> 1:20
- <theDM> :54
- <theDM> :53
- <theDM> :52
- <theDM> :51
- <theDM> :50
- <theDM> Maybe it wants the dowel?
- <Eric_Stevens> You grab the dowel and reach over to it.
- <theDM> :45
- <theDM> Are you giving the carved dowel to the kernelsprite?
- <theDM> :44
- <theDM> :43
- <theDM> :42
- <theDM> :41
- <Eric_Stevens> Yes
- <theDM> It absorbs the carved dowel, now displaying a similar shape on it instead of the spirograph from before
- <theDM> You realize you might have needed that
- <theDM> :38
- <theDM> :37
- <theDM> :36
- <theDM> :35
- <theDM> :34
- <Eric_Stevens> You run to grab another dowel and carve it
- <theDM> It carves just like the first
- <theDM> :20
- <theDM> :19
- <theDM> :18
- <theDM> :17
- <theDM> :16
- <theDM> :15
- <theDM> :14
- <theDM> :13
- <theDM> :12
- <theDM> :11
- <Eric_Stevens> You put the carved dowel on the smaller platform on the platforms
- <Eric_Stevens> *platform thingy
- <theDM> :06
- <theDM> As the timer ticks down, the Alchemiter begins scanning
- <theDM> :05
- <theDM> :04
- <theDM> :03
- <theDM> :02
- <theDM> :01
- <theDM> Just as it finishes and summons an object, the world goes white
- <theDM> The flash does not come from the item, however
- <theDM> It comes from the kernel sprite
- <theDM> Everything goes white
- <theDM> :00
- <theDM> ===End===
