- Recommended races (not exhaustive)
- Slime: for slime division (double turn) (mega slime skill)
- Sea-dweller (seadragon dancer): for timewarp dance, access to sing/dance
- Minor Chaos: status immunities, access to dark + time + machine skills
- Angels: for holy skills
- Minotaur: axe skills ignore def
- Harpy: for sky dance
- General notes:
- - Holy martyr/endure are useful abilities to have for all members
- - Carbuncle/Phoenix (Summoner) are useful skills to have on all members; Spiritualist gives 'skill use: summoning' ability
- - Keep vicarious clara (necromancer)/electromagnetic armor (machine master) refreshed on all members
- - Deal damage with whatever works (holy/dark/machina/axe/demon arts/black magic etc.)
- - Clear status effects with saints recovery (holy skill) or other skill; Hild is good for this since she has access to holy skills while being immune to status effects with Minor Chaos race
- - If you have trouble with status effects, farm ribbons or use Minor Chaos monsters
- - Holy/dark skills cannot be dodged or reflected (this works both ways)
- - Time magic is effective on most bosses
- - Song/Dance skills are useful to buff the team
- - Stage time (special)(double turn for 4 turns, sing/dance only) is strong but risky; good to use in conjunction with time warp dance (seadragon dancer)
- - All bosses can clear your teams buffs, including deflectors such as clara
- - Usually you want at least one member refreshing clara every turn
- - Unless noted, most bosses are vulnerable to 'stop' effect
- You will need lockpick II (or relevant accessory) to open the green chest behind the boss.
- The bosses:
- Adramalech (debuffs effective)
- - easiest boss
- - debuff her agility, and your team is faster
- - debuff her defense and you can deal 50k+ damage per turn with regular skills (eg. multiweapon)
- note: Alice is great here since she learns weakening (debuff) dance (from Snake Miko race?)
- Morrigan (carbuncle effective) (silence effective)
- - most of her attacks can be reflected/dodged, except for aero
- - is vulnerable to silence
- - stop/clara etc etc
- - drops a weaker version of the scroll in the green chest
- Astaroth
- - stop/clara etc etc
- Alice XVI (kiratsu stun effective) (carbuncle effective) (evasion effective)
- - basically the same as the normal Alice XVI, most skills can be reflected/dodged with carbuncle and harpy dance
- - monster lord's cruelty has extra hits, but a fresh clara should block it
- - she is vulnerable to the stun from sparkle/kiratsu (song skill)
- - stop/clara etc etc
- - drops the same thing as the normal Alice XVI
- Sphinx (slow/stop resistant) (multi-hit spells) (carbuncle effective)
- - from my experience, slow/stop does not work
- - most of her spells can be reflected with carbuncle for good dmg
- - clara for the rest
- - note: you will need carbuncle or the spells will break clara
- - drops the same thing as normal sphinx
- Soniamazuda (holy)
- - uses holy skills
- - carbuncle/harpy dance are not very useful
- - according to wiki can be affected by paralysis and temptation
- - stop/clara etc etc
- Michaela (physical reflect) (physical nullification)
- - will reflect physical attacks (note: machine skills cannot be reflected but deal 0 damage)
- - carbuncle/harpy dance are not very useful
- - stop/clara etc etc
- - drops a sword
- Lucifina (magic reflect) (uses daystar, death sword chaos star) (evasion effective)
- - will reflect magic attacks, including time magic
- - vulnerable to time warp dance (seadragon dancer) still
- - uses daystar (nullifies and counters everything for 1 turn)
- - uses death sword chaos star (multi hit physical), harpy dance recommended to dodge or it may break clara
- - according to wiki is vulnerable to silence
- - stop/clara etc etc
- - drops venus shield (magic reflect +50%), a sword
- Soniaman'yu (dark) (physical nullification) (multi hit darkness)
- - nullifies physical attacks
- - uses dark skills
- - multi-hit darkness skill may break clara on some members
- - according to wiki can be stunned by sparkle/kiratsu
- - according to wiki can be stunned by opening surprise box
- - stop/clara etc etc
- Reaper (stop resistant) (can be slowed) (carbuncle effective) (evasion effective) (multi hit darkness) (chaos drive)
- - hardest boss, hopefully you got some decent items from beating other bosses
- - immune to stop
- - vulnerable to slow, if you have 500+ agility you will outspeed her after slow
- - has normal reaper skills + more darkness skills + chaos drive
- - chaos drive (nero's 3 turn timestop) is a pain, if used with buff clear your team is likely dead
- - multihit darkness attack can break clara on some members
- - old skills can still be dodged/blocked
- - carbuncle/harpy dance is recommended to preserve clara
- - a strategy that has worked for me is to drain her mp
- - she has 9999 mp, properly equipped members can steal ~90+ with a dance
- - slime division or stage time may be used to get extra turns in (they don't stack, sadly)
- - chaos drive and buff cleanse cost mp, without these reaper is much more manageable
- - drops same thing as normal reaper
