Halley's Comet returns to the solar system and the English/American team aboard the shuttle "Churchill", making a close-up survey of the comet, discovers an alien spacecraft in the head of the comet. Inside the spacecraft are some large bat-like creatures and in three cocoons are three "dead" humans - two men and a woman. The "Churchill" takes the humans and a creature back to Earth. There the bosses of the project are amazed to find the shuttle burnt out and all but one of the crew - Carlsen - dead. The humans from the spacecraft suddenly awake and all those who come into contact with them are drained of their "lifeforce" and in time all the victims - including most of the population of London - are turned into zombies all preying on the horrified survivors for their "lifeforce". It's up to Carlsen and Major Caine of the SAS to stop them before the whole world turns into a big blood-hunt...

The screenplay is very confusing all the way through. The backgrounds are quite unconvincing and hard to decipher what you are seeing inside the space ship and elsewhere. And frankly it was pretty darn boring. I forced myself to watch it to the end and wish I hadn't bothered. If I were Henry Mancini and/or Patrick Stewart, I would be embarrassed to have my name connected to this dog.The only good thing in this movie was the vampire girl, who was very pretty. She didn't make it worth watching though, and I give it 2 stars instead of one only because of her and her nude scenes.
Lifeforce is one of those movies that you really, really want to like, but it just isn't quite good enough to let you. It's a shame too, 'cause this flick had a lot of potential, and could've been an outstanding movie if the writing had been a little better and the acting not so lame. But in all fairness I have to say that the first 30 or 40 minutes were actually quite good. At first I really thought this was gonna turn out to be a cool movie, what with the voluptuous space vampiress and exploding zombies and such; but, sadly, after Space Girl escaped from the SRC building, everything slowed down to a snail's pace. There were a couple times during the middle of the movie where I kinda felt like turning it off and doing something else. The special effects were excellent, though... They get a 10. The first half hour of the movie gets an 8, and the rest gets a 4 or so.

2 real possibilities, firstly that they're both dead and their energy released as with the rest of the victims. Secondly that they are still alive and preserved on the ship and will return with Halley's comet in the mid 21st centuary Open to interpretation, either the energy of the human souls has been used to revive the vampires in their crystal coffins or the humans have actually become the new vampires and are preserved until the ship returns to Earth with Halley's comet. The only released version in Germany e.g. is the Theatrical Version. In the UK and US on the other hand, the only available DVD Version is the longer Original Version, referred to as Director's Cut. Lots of footage got cut out but most of the cuts were probably made for pace. Lots of scenes refering to vampires have been removed. Apart from that, the investigations of incidents with vampires, which have been cut out from the Theatrical Version, are much shorter as well. Some scenes really benefit from this because the timing is better but in most cases, the Director's Cut is the better and more convincing version. In total there are more than 100 hundred differences between both versions resulting in a difference of more than 14 minutes.  a5c7b9f00b
