- Hey 'n welcome. Today we're going to talk about car hacking..
- Before we talk about what we can do, lets talk about what we cant do.
- Its tricky to know what is possible and not until you learn how the key radio frequent works.
- Already in the late 80's mostly of the wireless car key systems used techniques like TKIP,
- It was made for preventing the same 'key' used twice. So every time you click on your car key knob you are getting a different key every time.
- But the key knob most be in range of the car to register the 'key' as used. So if you record the frequent that has been transmitted
- out of range, than you can use it anytime you want and unlock the car(1 time ofc).
- So witch that in knowledge, we know now that we cant get access to a car without the key, it's simple impossible to bruteforce it..
- There's some different techniques that we can use to unlock a car though..
- As described earlier we can
- Save the transmitted key signal when the signal is out of range of the car.
- Or we can jam the signal and save all of the lock/unlocking signals,
- (you can often modify the signal and turn a locking signal into a unlock signal)
- Hope that I've cleared the basics with you know, this topic is very misunderstood and we ain't living in Hollywoods movies.
- Last words:
- For transmitting and receiving radio frequents you haft to get a SDR(software defined radio)
- One good full duplex SDR is 'Blade rf' and half duplex 'Hackrf'
- i would go with the Blade rf.
