- I hope this is the right spot!
- So I wanted to get an estimate on how much regaining Elliot's abilities would cost! I covered some of it in his app, but I'll try to do my best to give a "quick" overview of what stuff I'd be looking to actually purchase (since I'm not gonna bother with Combat Link stuff unless I get castmates). Elliot is basically a mage character in a JRPG, so of course that means 2343243 abilities/items. I'M SO SORRY.
- One note is that in canon there's a distinction between Orbal Arts and Magic - basically Orbal Arts is magic that's channeled through using materia quartz and a special device like Elliot's ARCUS. Orbal Arts can be learned by almost anyone with enough training, though some people are better at it than others. Meanwhile Magic is more "rare special abilities" that are harder to explain. Both of them count as magic though when it comes to Elliot, and would be pinged as such by characters with sensing abilities. It's just more a case of the devil in the details.
- Anyhow, the shopping list!
- ARCUS UNIT: It's literally a magic flip-phone. Much like a Persona 3 evoker, it's used to channel Orbal Arts but doesn't have any actual power by itself (besides combat linking which will be disabled and doesn't matter unless I get castmates). Elliot's would be the older model, so it has nine slots for quartz: 1 Master Quartz Slot and 8 regular quartz slots. However like when he first gets his ARCUS in canon, I'd like for 7 of the regular quartz slots to be sealed off when he first gets his ARCUS - so his only open slots are the Master quartz and one regular slot.
- ARCUS SLOTS: 7 of the ARCUS slots can be sealed up when he first gets his ARCUS, only to activated with more regains. And after that - if he wants to use more powerful quartz, he'll need to buy more regains to power up the slots (otherwise the quartzs aren't said to work properly). So please let me know how much this should cost per slot.
- MASTER QUARTZ: Elliot's master Quartz is a water-element quartz called Canon- and it comes with a bunch of spells as well as a couple of neat healing tricks. Since they somewhat change what spells Canon can do from CS1 to CS2, I'll just be combining both. Abilities are as followed:
- - Tear: Heals single target a small amount.
- - Aqua Bleed: Strikes a single enemy with a heavy mass of water.
- - Teara: Heals a single target a moderate amount.
- - Hydro Cannon: Shoots a huge blast of water, hitting anything in its path.
- - Breath: Heals anyone in a medium area a small amount.
- - Tearal: Heals a single target a large amount.
- - Recuria: Cures anyone in a large area of ailments. (poison, seal, temporary mute, temporary blindness, sleep, burns, being frozen, petrification, faint, confusion)
- - Athelas: Revives an ally that's been knocked out and heals them a large amount (Note: does not work on dead people)
- - Holy Breath: Heals anyone in a large area a moderate amount.
- - Gives Elliot short term regeneration powers (for RP sake, it'd last from 1 to 5 minutes depending on the Master Quartz's power level). Cannot regrow limbs or come back from the dead.
- - Arts range gets wider depending on Master Quartz's power level.
- - Increases overall potency of healing arts (potency grows over time)
- When Elliot first receives Canon, it already comes with Tear and Aqua Bleed - so if possible I'd like to start off with those spells. The rest of the abilities are gained over time- so those upgrades can be purchased separately.
- REGULAR QUARTZ: Regular quartz work quite a lot like Materia in FFVII - they are special stones that when equipped in a quartz slot, give the user 1-3 spells to cast. Quartz come in 4 common elements (Fire, Water, Earth, Wind) and 3 rarer elements (Time, Space, Mirage-- yeah basically Dark, Light and ???). Elliot's ARCUS unit can equip up to 8 regular quartz, though these slots have to be unlocked, and two of the quartz must Space element and one must be Water.
- For RP sake, I'll be ignoring any quartz that are purely stat buffs, and I'll break down the other tiers based on power level, all of which have to be bought in numerial order (I have to buy tier 1 before tier 2). It's to you guys if I can buy these tiers in bulk or have to buy each quartz individually:
- A more detailed list of what each Art does can be found here
- TIER 1: Weak spells that hit a single target by basically flinging a bunch an element at them:
- Needle Shot (Earth), Fire Bolt (Fire), Air Strike (Wind), Aqua Bleed (Water)
- TIER 2: Slightly stronger spells that can hit anything in a small area or in a small straight line, depending on the spell:
- Earth Lance (Earth), Frost Edge (Water), Heat Wave (Fire), Spark Arrow (Wind), Soul Blur (Time), Golden Spheres (Space), Luminous Ray (Mirage)
- TIER 3: Stronger in power, and can now hit anything in a medium sized area or in a medium sized line, depending on the spell:
- Grand Press (Earth), Hydro Cannon (Water), Flame Tongue (Fire), Aerial (Wind), Demonic Scythe (Time), Dark Matter (Space), Silver Thorn (Mirage)
- TIER 4: Even Stronger, and can hit anything in a large area or in a large line, depending on spell:
- Yggdrasil (Earth), Crystal Flood (Water), Volcanic Rain (Fire), Judgement Bolt (Wind), Grim Butterfly (Time), Cross Crusade (Space), Phantom Phobia (Mirage)
- TIER 5: Massively powerful spells. Probably questionable if you let me have these at all.
- Ancient Glyph (Earth), Maelstorm (Water), Flare Bomb (Fire), Purgatorial Flame (Fire), Ragna Vortex (Wind), Shadow Blade (Time), Altair Cannon (Space), Claiomh Solarion (Mirage)
- TIER 6: Lost Arts. Ridiculously powerful quartz you have to beat giant monster to get. Casting one of these would make Elliot pass out. If you're a responsible mod team, you should not let me have these.
- Sol Eruption, Lost Eden, Artemis' Tear, Grail Burst
- ORBAL STAFF: It's a staff that shoots magic bubbles at enemies. It's not super powerful, but it can do some damage thanks to the fact that it ignores any physical defenses (because magic). It's a collapsable rod that can be used as a violin in a pinch- but that's not its recommended use.
- CRAFTS: Magic spells that Elliot doesn't need his ARCUS to use. All the crafts are listed on his app, and he learns them one-by-one so I'm fine with purchasing them that way too. Just let me know how much each one would cost please!
- S-CRAFTS: Basically his Limit Breaks, he has two of them that were listed on his app. I'd be fine purchasing them separately, and I'd imagine they should probably cost more than his regular Crafts.
- And I think that's it? Please let me know any price estimates or power restraints on him! I'M SORRY THIS GOT SO LONG - what was I thinking apping a JRPG mage sob. If I ever get a castmate (laughs alone with salad), I'll probably be back to talk about that-- but for now this should be the extent of the lsit.
- Thank you!
