  3. Experiment #1: Buizel and Shuckle VS Reuniclus
  4.
  5. “Wha-!?” Shuckled looked over to the round figure and saw that it was holding a cluster of rocks with one hand. He withdrew into his shell and rolled over towards its direction as fast as he could to get a closer look. As he rolled along, the cracking of rocks became louder until he was able to confirm that the figure he saw from afar was fighting someone with those rocks, but who?
  6.
  7. *BOING*
  8.
  9. Shuckle let out a gasp as his momentum was interrupted by a strange soft substance, making him bounce slightly into the air before falling back onto the ground just as fast. Shuckle peeked out of his shell to see a green jelly-like pokemon floating in front of him with its back turned away. Part of the gel was rippling and wiggling like the actual dessert food. “That must be the area I bumped into…” thought Shuckle. Its form was spherical in shape and was partially see-through, with the pokemon confined and protected inside of the gel. Several spheres connected away from the round center to make its arms, with the last orb being red in color. In the center contained what appeared to be the controller of the gel, a figure with a large head but a tiny body.
  10.
  11. “Wait … this pokemon matches the description of the bounty back in Treasure Town … ” Shuckle thought to himself. “Floating green jelly, small body inside, arms made of spheres … it’s Reuniclus! Why didn’t I remember this earlier back in town?!”
  12.
  13. The mastermind eventually turned around to the source of the disturbance to see Shuckle peeking at him from below. It gave the cautious pokemon a great big smile as it tossed the boulder up and down in with ease on its arm. “How can a psychic type even have that much physical strength?” Shuckle said to himself.
  14.
  15. “Oh hi Shuckle!” The blob greeted the brown-shelled pokemon with a wave of its open hand, filled with energy and spirit. Scattered around the field were uprooted trees, rock fragments, and craters that could fit an entire boulder, a scene that contrasted with the bubbling tone the Reuniclus was emitting. Some of the craters contained the imprint of a pokemon that Shuckle recognized, which made his eyes open wide.
  16.
  17. He looked behind the gelatin psychic type to see his water-type partner, Buizel, covered in scratches, dirt, and bruises. A rather large dark blue-and -purple marking can be seen on his stomach, resembling that of a punch mark. Panting as heavy as an Arcanine after overusing its Extremespeed, it was easy to tell that the sea weasel pokemon was exhausted and injured. In spite of his condition, his tail was still spinning with vigor and his feet continued to shuffle about, preparing for more evasive maneuvers.
  18.
  19. “Nice to see you again, my odd-colored friend. Don’t mind the mess, I’m just…killing some time with Buizel over here, hee hee!” it giggled out like a madman and threw another boulder towards the water type pokemon.
  20.
  21. “Bueh!?” Buizel shouted and jumped out of the boulder’s way. It smashed into the ground where Buizel once stood with an audible crack. Shortly after, it crumbled into nothing more than pebbles, just like the fragments around the field. Although the green pokemon was no longer armed, Buizel still had his guard up and locked his eye on towards his attacker, not even giving himself a moment to breathe.
  22.
  23. “Leave him be, Reuniclus; he has done nothing to harm you!” Shuckle demanded, his head and limbs now stretched out of the safety of his shell and ready to confront Buizel’s assaulter.
  24.
  25. “But why would I? I’m having so much fun playing with Buizel!” Reuniclus shouted, its bubbling voice filled with glee and delight. “You should’ve seen him move around dodging all of those rocks I threw at him, it was amazing! It’s like watching lightning jump from rod to rod, or spinning around without getting dizzy! No, it’s like receiving a present for a first time from someone you like. ”
  26.
  27. Reuniclus continued on with its obscene rambling, unaware of Buizel charging towards it on all fours, enveloped by a veil of water. Buizel collided with the squishy pokemon, whose gelatinous form easily absorbed the impact and deflected the struggling water type into the air. Disoriented, Buizel crashed back onto the ground with a loud thud, landing right onto his bruised stomach.
  28.
  29. “Auuugh!” he groaned. He shook his head and looked at his former friend, only to see that he didn’t even flinch from the attack. As he struggled to balance himself on his two feet, he looked over to see his brown-shelled friend staring at the gooey pokemon with grudge-filled eyes.
  30.
  31. “Shuckle…you were right,” he panted out, ignoring Reuniclus’s blabbering to talk directly to his friend. “It was one of those…outlaws all along.”
  32.
  33. “He’s the most fun I had since coming here, and I’m not stopping until I had my fill!” Reuniclus finished his speech with a heightened squeak, interrupting Buizel. “Oh that’s right, your weird brown color reminded me of something I forgot to do…” Reunicus said, a hint of mischief in its voice. It then raised its right arm into the air and emitted a small psychic wave that coated the ground around the field. The small pieces of debris scattered on the floor became coated in a mysterious purple glow of light and began to vibrate rapidly and violently, crackling like the tremors caused by groups of Dugtrio.
  34.
  35. Not wanting to figure out what was going to happen, Buizel charged towards Reuniclus again, this time running on two feet and brandishing his tail for his own attack. Before he could get in range, Reuniclus snapped its fingers and turned to Buizel with a grin on its face.
  36.
  37. “Think fast!”
  38.
  39. Dozens of purple fragments rushed towards the struggling water type. Buizel didn’t even get a chance to blink when they all crashed into his head, the impact so powerful that purple dust was emitted and concealed the pokemon and the true violence of the collision. Each individual stone felt alive, doing its best to dig into his head and through his skin to maximize damage. No voice could be heard from the dust as it was overshadowed by the intense crumbling and grinding of manipulated rock.
  40.
  41. “Buizel!” Shuckle cried out for his partner as Reuniclus did nothing more than smile at his work. When the smoke finally cleared up, Buizel was lying on the floor, his body completely battered by the barrage of rocks. Some of the fragments were even embedded onto his torso and paws. Reuniclus did a quick scan on his “playmate” and noticed that he was still conscious. Slowly, the poor pokemon forced himself back on his feet, groaning in agony with every second passing. Before he could properly reorient himself, he collapsed onto one of his knees in exhaustion.
  42.
  43. “Oh wow! I never expected you to have enough energy to withstand that one!” Reuniclus happily shouted out. “Y’know, I kinda came up with that attack on a whim, so maybe I’ll give it a name. Ancient Power? Nah, already taken and too overused. How about Barrage? No that doesn’t work either, not cool enough. Ooooh, I know, Psyshock! Because uh, it leaves you feeling like you were zapped by lighting, but instead, it’s actually rocks!” Reuniclus continued on and on. “-may be fast, but your reaction speed could use more work,”
  44. “Enough!” Reuniclus’s speech was interrupted by the bug pokemon’s voice behind it. Shuckle ducked into his shell and rammed into Reuniclus to stop its onslaught of attacks on his ally. However, like before, his attack bounced off of the Reuniclus and did nothing more than making his gel wobble about.
  45.
  46. Reuniclus looked at the attacking pokemon for a second before smiling and picking it up with its gelatinous arm. It peeped into one of the holes and whistled out, “Aw Shuckle, don’t be shy! You shouldn’t just go back into your shell like that and miss out on all the fun we’re having.” As he chattered, he shook the shell about like a baby rattle. "If you wanted to play along, you just had to ask!”
  47.
  48. “So let’s,”--Reuniclus took aim at a nearby tree, ignorant of the mess around it. --“play,”-- it spun the arm that held Shuckle’s shell like the speed of a Lickitung’s tongue licking its target. --“Ball!” Reuniclus let go of the brown-shelled pokemon and it was launched towards the tree.

  52. Interaction/Experiment #1: Kalvin, Lance and Dragonite
  53.
  54. “I can’t wait any longer,” Kalvin shouted towards Lance and increased the speed of his pace. “My number one fan needs my help!”
  55.
  56. Lance, dumbfounded by Kalvin’s sudden change in behavior, ran after him followed by his Dragonite. “Wait a moment, Kalvin. You don’t have any pokemon to fight against Team Rocket! How do you expect to rescue that Ledian without any way to fend them off?” he reasoned with him.
  57.
  58. Kalvin cracked his knuckles together, one finger at a time. “Then I’ll just smack them down before they send out their forces. Even if they do, I’ll just bash right through!”
  59.
  60. “You can’t be serious, Kalvin! Think about what you’re doing!” Lance yelled out, angry at Kalvin’s stubbornness. “If you go in there, I’m certain you’ll-”
  61.
  62. “I don’t want to hear it!” Kalvin shoved his hand into Lance’s direction, still keeping his momentum. “If you are just going to hold me back like what you are doing now, then you go back! I do not want her to go through the same fate as the others caught by those thieves.”
  63.
  64. Kalvin’s pace shifted into a dash as the argument began to echo throughout the metal corridor.
  65.
  66. “No! Get back here and wait for reinforcements!” Lance ordered.
  67.
  68. Kalvin ignored him and stormed on ahead. Lance cursed underneath his breath.
  69.
  70. “Tch, there’s no getting to him. At this rate, he really will kill himself going in there! I don’t want to do this, but …” He looked over to his Dragonite, who nodded his head to the silent agreement between the two.
  71.
  72. There was no other choice.
  73.
  74. “Dragonite, Hyper Beam!” He commanded.
  75.
  76. Dragonite opened its mouth and breathed in, gathering energy deep within its body. The air around the pokemon crackled and swirled like the storms that ravaged the Lake of Rage. The lighting in the corridor flickered about, unable to withstand the tension the Dragonite was creating. Lance squinted his eyes in anticipation of the all-out attack. The dragon type’s eyes took aim at the faraway shrinking target and let out a fierce roar, rattling the entire hallway with its echo.
  77.
  78. A devastating red and violet colored beam of pure energy came out of the pokemon’s mouth and raced towards Kalvin at incredible speed. The dragon tamer flinched at the intensity of light and shut his eyes completely. Halfway through its destination, the beam split into two and swirled around each other, crossing each other in perfect synch and rhythm like dancers. As the Hyper Beam flies away from the dragon duo, Lance carefully opened his eyes and waited for the move to hit the rebellious, lean male.
  79.
  80. The last thing Lance saw before impact was Kalvin staring at him, his eyes shooting out malice at his direction.
  81.
  82. *Hyper Beam noises intensify*
  83.
  84. The attack collided head-on to Kalvin and created an immense shockwave, sending tremors and dust clouds throughout the metal hallway. Lance fliped his cape over as a shield and stood his ground as the cloud came rushing towards him. It was not until the ground stopped shaking when he threw the cape back onto his back. However, the entire area was now covered with dust, making it difficult to find the entrance the two came from.
  85.
  86. “At this rate, Team Rocket will find us before we can get out,” he said to Dragonite. “Since you can see better through the dust, retrieve Kalvin and bring him to me. Try to use your wings to clear up some of this dust.”
  87.
  88. The dragon pokemon nodded and flew deep into the dust-generated fog. As it flew, it flapped its wings with rhythmic strength, moving the dust to the corners and clearing it up a bit. Lance followed the partially cleared path up to the last dust cloud and looked down on the ground. Based on the lack of footsteps any further, it seemed likely that it was here the Hyper Beam tagged its target. The dragon tamer shook his head and started speaking.
  89.
  90. “… Sorry Kalvin, but this is for your own good. I can’t let you throw away your life like tha-”
  91.
  92. Without warning, Dragonite was shoved back from the smoke and collided with the other side of the wall next to Lance, interrupting his self-reassurance. Lanced looked over his pokemon for a moment before rushing to its aid.
  93.
  94. “D-Dragonite! Are you alright?” he asked as he examined it for damage. Dragonite made an unusual bleating sound and covered its right eye with its hands. Lance carefully pried them away to see something quite unusual: A fist imprint, the size of a human’s hand and placed right on the powerful creature’s face.
  95.
  96. The discovery was met with sudden heavy breathing coming out of the dust cloud nearby as it finally dissipated. Lance turned around and braced himself to see whatever pokemon did this to his ally…
  97.
  98. …only to see Kalvin kneeling on the floor, one of his hands in the shape of a fist and the other a simple palm. Although his clothes were somewhat torn and damaged from the surprise attack, he was still conscious and active, almost like he completely ignored the impact of the Hyper Beam.
  99.
  100. Lance looked at Kalvin, dumbstruck that another person could actually push back his Dragonite with such force.
  101.
  102. “K…Kalvin? You endured Dragonite’s Hyper Beam? How did you-”
  103.
  104. And then he saw it. A steel-like material was creeping up through Kalvin’s hand and his arm, taking on the same texture and pattern as the metal on the floor. Lance took a step back at the sight in front of him in shock and awe.
  105.
  106. “Y-your arms, what is happening to your arms?!” he shouted out. “There’s no way they can do such a thing. Not even a pokemon could do such an illusion!” Kalvin said nothing and only calmed down his breath as the metal enveloped his arms.
  107.
  108. As Lance watched, his mind became a complete wreck at what he was seeing with his own eyes until he started seeing visions of the past. Memories of news about various fights between his fights against trainers and their pokemon flew within him. His first fight, his ascension to the rank he was now, his first loss, all of them came crashing down on him as his mind tried to make sense of what he has witnessed. Somehow, in some way, this average everyday guy was able to knock back Dragonite with his own two hands. It just doesn't make sense! Unless…
  109.
  110. One recent event came to his mind about a certain Red Gyrados being subdued by a lone person. Lance quivered in anticipation as he began inquiring.
  111.
  112. “Kalvin…in the Lake of Rage, the rampaging Gyarados was subdued by a person who knocked it out with some sort of lightning weapon. Was…was it you all-?”
  113.
  114. “Boy.” A voice boomed out of Kalvin’s mouth, almost as loud as the sound of Dragonite’s Hyper Beam and stopping Lance’s question. Kalvin lifted himself back up on his feet, still looking down on the ground. His steel-coated arms shifted into a fighting stance along with his legs, his left side sticking in front and using his other side as support.
  115.
  116. Kalvin looked back up at Lance grudgingly. A bone-chilling hatred seethed out from within him and made his red-caped target cringe.
  117.
  118. “You picked the wrong day to get in my way,” he snarled out before zooming towards Lance at speeds that would make a charging Tauros jealous.
