- Tips:
- * When the back starts, grab the chaingun and quickly backtrack into the office. Waste the shotgunner if you're playing on UV. Not only is the room full of ammo, med packs and powerups, it's also a much more easily defensible position than the open mansion grounds. Once you've picked a good amount of them off, you'll be able to get the extra shotgun and rocket launcher on the east and west wings of the balcony!
- * In many Doom maps, enemies can open doors. This really isn't one of those maps. If a room has too many foes for you to deal with effectively, just lure a few to another room and let the entrance close behind them.
- * There's a ton of resources in some rooms, but very few in others. Backtracking to earlier sections when you're running low on health and ammo is a very good idea.
- * Be careful not to stand in one place for too long. The monsters you alerted will all converge on it. Changing positions and falling back to where you know its safer will keep you from getting overwhelmed.
- * If all else fails, there's absolutely no shame in playing on an easier Skill level. I specifically designed this map so Ultra Violence was dickish and the lower difficulties were less of a pain. Getting to know the layout and where all the good items are will make you much better at the map.
- Secrets:
- 1) When you start the map, there's an office room behind you. Inside it there's a Backpack hidden behind the bookshelf on the left side of the room. Walk on the exact square its on to tick the secret.
- 2) Most of the doors with Outlaws textures are just cosmetic. But the one directly to the right of the office works. Activating it will open up a Bathroom, where you'll get a ton of goodies, but also find the aftermath of a particularly grisly deal gone wrong.
- 3) Super secret: Inside the bathroom, there's a touch-wall right next to the toilet, on its right side. Open it up and you'll find a BFG and tons of ammo. I made this secret extra hard to find because of how powerful having a BFG this early is. But I also wanted to keep it because unloading a BFG into a crowd of hitscanners and watching them all explode is SO satisfying that I couldn't deny it.
- 4) There's a dead end on the left side of the hedge maze. But luckily, there's a megasphere at the end of it.
- Scarface References:
- * Let's get the obvious ones out of the way: the main room is directly inspired by the one from the film, with the little pillars, the balcony with two sets of stairs and a pool below, the office room with the big camera system, and of course, the giant pile of cocaine that, fittingly enough, has a berserk pack on it.
- * Your first weapon is a Chaingun, to mimic the assault rifle Tony gunned down all those goons with.
- * On Ultra-Violence, there's a shotgunner behind you. Just like the assassin who killed Tony.
- * There's a Hot Tub room on the east side of the mansion. It's also taken directly from the film.
- * The annoying hedge maze is loosely based on the one from the film, and also Vice City.
- * In a special secret area, there's a bathtub with a mutilated corpse hanging over it, and lots of blood, gore, and a chainsaw. This is a reference to Angel's death from the original film.
- * The massive dining room is actually based on the Restaurant where the painful dinner scene happened.
- * The map is named after Giorgio Moroder, who did much of the iconic music for Scarface.
