- After watching this video, https://youtu.be/X9otDixAtFw (What Is Something?), I just realized that the reactions of the forces and elements (of the periodic table) only exist at a superficial level. An example is how hydrogen and helium atoms are both made of protons and electrons, but hydrogen only contains 1 electron and proton while helium contains 2 electrons and protons (while having 1 or 2 neutrons). The same concept can be applied to any atom and the only thing that makes these elements different from each other is just the arrangement of more basic particles (which even have more basic stuff beneath it).
- For those who are programmers like me, you can think of this as how in a computer, you have hardware, the system (kernel), and then userspace. The hardware is the most basic and elementary part of the computer that makes up the universe that is the computer. By itself, the hardware can do stuff, but it isn't going to do something like play a game. You can then add another layer on top of it called the system. The system can do things like initialize the hardware. The system cannot work without the hardware though. The system is more like atoms while the hardware is more like protons, neutrons, and other elementary particles. In the end, you will have the userspace where your programs such as your web browser, a game, a note taking app exist. These are more like having atoms combine into molecules and then having those molecules combine into complex objects and organisms. This can be viewed like writing libraries and then combining them into the programs that people use. I know this analogy isn't perfect by any means. I just came up with it now. Hopefully it gives a general idea about how the processes of the universe we see with our eyes only exist at a superficial level and that they only exist because of layers of building blocks that go below what we can perceive at this superficial level.
- As for a similar topic that you can consider to be homework if you want, you can ask yourself questions such as... What determines when something is alive or dead (if not both or neither)? Do our thoughts and emotions only exist at a superficial level or do they make up who we are? What is consciousness (made of)? What is the subconscious? Can AI be considered alive if it "thinks" according to our code we wrote or is it just merely a program with no thoughts or feelings? Check out this video https://youtu.be/QOCaacO8wus (What Is Life? Is Death Real?).
- I watched "What Is Life? Is Death Real?" first and then immediately watched "What Is Something?" afterwards before I came up with this realization.
