Luthor took a step closer to the robot, which stood at least a foot taller than him. He looked up into its red eyes. “Metallo, finish him.” He pointed at Murphy, who looked alarmed.
“Um…boss?” Murphy asked.
Metallo walked slowly toward the bodyguard, still down on the floor surrounded by broken equipment. Murphy raised his hands to protect himself. Metallo stared at Murphy, then stopped. He stood straight upright, not moving.
“Metallo senses no threat,” Moore explained. “He’s in Vigilant mode, waiting for his next opponent.”
“But he hasn’t finished off this opponent,” Luthor objected. He shook his head. “Lacks the killer instinct. That’s a problem.”
